POWERLESS
The villain noticed that, for whatever reason, the hero was completely off their game. As they fought, their blows had no weight to them, their movements were sloppy, and their blocks could practically be broken by a short gust of wind. And then, in a bizarrely uncharacteristic display of behavior - the hero stole the villain’s usual move when a fight wasn’t going their way - they attempted to flee.
They didn’t get far before the villain tackled them down, straddling the hero’s thighs and pressing their wrists against the ground by their head. They sneered as the hero feebly struggled in their grip.
“So, my supposed ‘nemesis’ is this easy to take down?” The villain scoffed, leaning down close to the hero’s face. “How pathetic.”
It didn’t feel earned. The hero wasn’t usually this weak - they could normally bat the villain yards away like they were merely swatting a fly... but now, in their current state, even a fly could probably best them.
Something was wrong.
“Ugh! LET GO OF ME, ASSHOLE!“ The hero shrieked, squirming desperately underneath the weight of the villain. “Get the FUCK OFF!”
The villain narrowed their eyes, peering down at them, and then paused. Staring at their neck, they noticed an odd mark... a small puncture wound, like the hero’s skin was pierced by something... Oh, shit. They blinked, peering closer. It was some kind of injection... but of what? They removed a hand pinning one of the hero’s arms, because it’s not like they could do anything with it anyway, and held it in front of the hero’s face.
“How many fingers am I holding up?”
“Huh?” The hero blinked up at them, pausing their thrashing at the sound of the villain’s concerned tone. Then, they huffed, rolling their eyes. “Very funny.”
“What?”
“Wait...” The hero’s brow furrowed. “You mean you don’t know? But it was practically broadcast to all of my-“
The hero was cut off by the sound of a super-weapon charging up, and when they both looked to the side they were greeted by a comically large barrel of a gun.
“Step aside, villain.” Another one of the hero’s enemies called out, a wide smirk spreading on their face as they eased their finger on the trigger of the super-weapon. They aligned their eye with the scope, aiming directly at the hero. “They’re mine.”
The hero cursed under their breath.
Then, yet another enemy flew in, landing in their immediate vicinity with a ready fighting stance. “Ladies first.”
And another. “I call dibs.”
“Well, this is the worst day of my life,” the hero croaked, trembling as they tried to swallow down their panic. “...and probably the last.”
The villain threw up a temporary force field around them, and then pointedly turned their gaze back to the hero.
“I’m going to need an explanation.”
The hero’s eyes had a hopeless glaze in them, but then - out of all things - they laughed. “Haven’t you noticed? I lost my powers! I’m completely fucking powerless!”
The villain’s eyebrows flew up. Oh. The injection... it was some kind of serum that took away their powers... and now they were the easy target of all of their worst enemies, which are currently pounding at the weakening force field.
The hero was throughly doomed. Unless...
“If you don’t want to die today, you’re going to do everything I say.” The villain ground out through their clenched teeth. “Got it?”
“What? You mean that you’re going to help me?” The hero blurted out, then they eyed the villain skeptically. “Why?”
“Now’s not the time for questions.” The villain stated before they rose to their feet. They held their hand out to the hero expectantly. “Now, grab my hand, quick. This force field isn’t going to last much longer.”
The hero brought themselves up to their elbows and bit their lip, brows furrowing as they considered taking the villain’s hand.
The force field shook, destabilizing from the force of the imminent threats awaiting the hero outside.
“Now or never, hero.” The villain said, extending their hand out further.
The hero closed their eyes, exhaling out of their nose as they grit their teeth. A short, contemplative moment passed, as the hero weighed the risks - coming to the conclusion that they were screwed no matter what - and their eyes popped open decisively.
“Fuck it.”
They clasped the villain’s hand, effectively placing their trust - and their life - in the hands of their sworn enemy.
The force field encompassing them fell, leaving them unguarded. Their enemies were on them in seconds, before the villain hastily threw down a smoke bomb from their belt.
Then, with their hands still clasped together, the villain bolted, dragging hero along in tow.

Wow, how did you all manage to create one of the most adorable things I've ever read?!
the dumbest fucking thought I had while half-asleep this morning:
villain: I shall now use this machine to pinpoint the location of every person you love so you can WATCH AS I FREEZE THEM WITH MY EVIL MEGA ICE RAY
hero: wait no-
machine: dings immediately, showing the location of the villain
villain: um
This is so cute omg <3
If you were a book you'd sit on my bed, right next to my pillow. You'd be my favourite story, the one that never fails to cheer me up when I'm feeling down.
I'd reread you dozens of times, with an unceasing enthusiasm. And when I can already recite you by heart, I'd still never tire of skimming through your pages.
Lovingly, I'd caress the creases left in your paper over the years we've spend together, run my fingers along the now smooth edges.
Even when my hands are wrinkled by old age and your once chalk-white pages have yellowed, my love for you would be as young and undying as it had been the day I read from you for the very first time.
Hellooo *waves frantically*
Hey buddy!!
*waves with the same enthusiasm ^^*
This is just perfect
You guys seem to absolutely love this snippet, so enjoy the continuation! Another one is also on it’s way! See masterlist for the first 5 parts *Please note, I decided that because this snippet has gone on so long, I think it’s time the hero/villain need to be actual characters, so the villains name is revealed in this chapter. The hero’s will be next chapter. In my head, they are both boys, so you’ll notice the use of those pronouns from now on, however, feel free to imagine them however you like!!* —————————————————————————————————
The following week was strange. The hero hadn’t seen the villain since he ‘broke out’ of jail. They had been texting, occasionally, but that wasn’t why the week had been strange.
The week had been strange because the hero hadn’t been called in for a single crime! There were still the occasional small things, but nothing worth calling the hero in for. It was as if all the other villains had up and left the city!
The hero turned the corner down an alley, deep in their thoughts. Were the villains planning something big? Were they working together? Why had there been almost no sightings of any of them!?
Suddenly, without warning, something hard and metallic connected with the back of the hero’s head, and everything went black.
When he finally came to an hour later, his head was still spinning, a faint ringing in his ears as he tried to blink the world around them into focus. He went to try and move, but found he couldn’t. Finally, his eyes seemed to focus enough to see the rope that was tying him to their chair.
“Rissseeee and shiiinneeee!!!” A voice chirped behind them, too loudly. The hero winced.
He recognized the voice, though. It was Fallout, one of the higher-up villains in town.
“Well, look who finally decided to join us back in the land of the living!"
"What do you want, Fallout?” the hero asked, though his voice came out slightly strained.
“Oh, don’t worry, darling, for once, I’m not actually all that interested in you! You’re just the bait today!"
"Bait for who?” the hero asked in confusion. This was new; he’d never been bait before. Who would come for them?
“Bait to lure your new boyfriend, obviously,” the villain replied as they finally walked into the hero’s view. He sat down onto an office chair, pushing off the ground and rolling directly in front of the hero, a manic grin on his face.
“I don’t know who you’re talking about,” the hero replied, narrowing his eyes.
“I’m going to assume he’s talking about me,” came a new voice. Both the hero and Fallout’s head snapped to look at the newcomer.
“Yes, he would be the one! The one you somehow managed to befriend while they were in prison,” Fallout drawled as he stood up, “Welcome welcome Silver,"
Silver, right. That was the villain’s new name on the street recently.
The villain sighed. The hero noticed his eyes dart over to him, looking him up and down, scanning for injuries, before looking back to the other villain in the room, "I don’t know if you’re brave or stupid,"
"I’m irritated is what I am!” Fallout snapped angrily,
“Everyone slow down,” the hero interrupted, “someone mind filling me in on what the hell is going on here?"
"ever since your boyfriend got out of jail, most villains have been too scared to try anything ever since we found out this one’s got a soft spot for you!"
The hero’s eyes widened, glancing between the two villains in front of them.
"So… you kidnapped them? That seems smart,” he commented, lazily adjusting the cuffs of his suit.
“I did so to prove a point,” Fallout drawled, “I wanted to prove that they made you weak. You don’t need a soft spot for this pathetic piece of meat; he will only slow you down,"
The villain simply raised an eyebrow.
"I mean, think about it, you wasted your time, coming here, to save him, when you could have been doing other things! Imagine the things you could be doing! Instead, you’re here, all because of him,"
The villain yawned, rolling their eyes, "Oh yes, the things I could be doing. You interrupted my bubble bath I’ll have you know, quite an important thing, that,"
The hero couldn’t help himself. He snorted. He really shouldn’t have, but when he saw the smile that crept onto Silver’s face, he decided it was worth it.
"Also, I would like to say, I made no such declaration for other villains not to touch him,” Silver continued, gesturing to the hero who was still tied to their chair, “I’m plenty certain he’s more than capable of handling themselves,"
"If you really believed that, then why would you come to rescue him?"
"I’m here because you called me,” the villain deadpanned, “He isn’t my significant other, but you implied he was. It’s the principle of trying to take something you assumed was mine, regardless of your correctness,"
Suddenly the villain pulled something out of his pocket and whipped it. Fallout didn’t have time to react before the dagged pierced their thigh.
"And as I said earlier, I don’t know if you’re brave or stupid. Though, I’m fairly certain with my conclusion that you are neither. Your simply insane,"
"Don’t kill him!” they hero called urgently, “there’s no need to kill him, just get me out of here,"
The villain sighed, "Very well. That’s much less entertaining, though,"
He walked over, cutting the hero free in one, swift motion.
"Though I’d be lying if I said I didn’t anticipate you wouldn’t want them killed. Thus my decision to aim for their leg. Should make arresting them much simpler, given they can’t run away. Merry Christmas?” He added with a sly, yet chillingly charming smirk.
The hero’s eyes widened, looking at the other in shock.
“Uhm, yeah, right,” He shook his head as he pulled the handcuffs out of his pocket and made his way over to Fallout, who was crippled on the ground.
“This was so much easier when heroes and villains weren’t on the same side!” He growled from his position on the floor, trying to scoot away from the advancing hero.
“Ah, how times change,” The villain drawled. He raised his hand, and the dagger that was embedded in the other’s leg shot out. Fallout let out a screech of pain, blood splattering over them. The villain caught the dagger effortlessly, spinning it through his fingers.
The hero yelped in surprise, “Remember how I said don't kill him?!"
"I didn’t hit an artery; he’ll be fine,” the villain replied, rolling his eyes.
Lucky the villain was right, and the hero was able to stop the bleeding and arrest them without too much issue.
“Well,” the villain mused once it was all said and done, “I got you kidnapped today; I think the least I can do is offer you a cup of tea?” He smirked.
Okay, I've been staring at this for five minutes already and I still can't believe that I was tagged alongside all of these wonderful people and beyond amazing writers. WHAT SORCERY IS THIS?! 🥺❤
The older villain placed a comforting arm around their mentee. “There, there, it does get better.”
“I thought villains got all the heroes, but no one has responded to my flirting!” Tears rose in the younger villain’s eyes. “They just keep arresting me. Whatever happened to the irresistible attraction of the outlaw?”
“Want some advice?” The older villain looked around furtively before dropping their voice to a whisper. “Tilt your head and call them ‘darling.’”
“What-”
“Trust me on this.”
"Hey, shall I call you starlight now and then?"
Hero asks casually like they're asking their lover what's for dinner, not even batting an eyelash at the cheesiness.
But their lover seems to do enough of that for them, and hero watches as villain’s nose scrunches up adorably at that statement, the moonlight from the tiny window overlooking the busy streets illuminating their face just right.
"Um, I don't know, but that sounds way too cheesy." Villain says politely, not wanting to sound rude or anything.
Hero laughs like they've heard the funniest joke, eyes shut and head bobbing slightly, so they miss the way villain’s entire face lights up at the sound of their laughter, maybe even brighter than the moon for that one moment.
"Hmm yeah, you're right. Part of me thought that as well. " Hero says easily, snaking their arm around villain’s neck to bring them closer. They're dancing to some old record that's always there in villain’s apartment, a familiar tune. Villain doesn't even bother to resist, moving their hand from where it rested on hero’s shoulder around their hip, to pull them closer.
Hero chuckles at that and the words fall out from villain’s lips before they can stop them-
"Do that again."
Hero quirks their head shyly, as if thinking.
"Do what?"
"Laugh."
And hero does just that, not because they're trained to laugh on command or anything, they're no actor- it's just who they are. Hero always had a habit of laughing at almost anything, even if it's not even that funny and it's one of the things villain loves about their lover so much- their laughter.
Hero gasps a little, all that laughing making them tremble in villain's arms. The tempo of their dance is all off but the couple doesn't care one bit as they hold each other in the comfort of the darkness, a pair of matching smiles on their faces- hero’s is bright and shy, and villain’s is raw but sweet all the same, just like their personalities; they're opposites one second and the same person the next. There's no middle ground.
Hero looks up at villain’s face after their little laughing spree with so much love in their eyes, their face and their whole body, the way hero’s fingers gently brush villain’s cheek and they move just a little bit more closer, as if even the tiniest molecule of space somehow doesn't sit well with them and villain swoons with this bubbly and warm feeling in their chest-
"I love you."
They don't know who said it, and that really doesn't matter. All that matters is that they both said it.
Villain wants to run and hide away but they have nowhere to go, their heart pinning them in place. Defeated, they bend down and rest their forehead on hero’s shoulders and they can immediately feel a hand, hero’s hand, caressing their head. Villain just smiles into hero’s sweater.
"Just what are you doing to me?" Villain whines.
"Hmm?" Hero hums, trying to move in circles with villain leaning on them.
"I never knew I could be this cheesy." , Villain lazily mumbles and hero chuckles again.
Villain feels their cheeks heating up at the sound and they can't decide whether to be embarrassed or just drown in it.
"Well if it makes you feel better," Hero begins, "my heart goes crazy when you do cute things too."
Villain peeks up their head a little to catch a glimpse of hero’s face, the soft smile on their lips makes them weak. Hero was just too powerful.
"Let's just... dance." Villain manages with a shuddering breath, afraid that they'll melt into some cheesy goo if they keep this talk up any longer.
"Anything you want baby." Hero says in that cute voice like it's the most natural thing in the world.
Villain groans, smiling and looks like the happiest person on the planet.
Soft soft soft-
hi! I love your work! I'm not sure if this is where I can request stuff, but would you be willing to write a scene of a teen villain (who had always thought the hero was well cared for and worshipped at home) finding out the teen hero is being abused? and something inside them just snaps and they confront hero about it, wanting to help them? if not that's okay haha. hope you're having a good day!
The fight between Hero and Villain started off just as any old fight.
Villain smiled triumphantly as their fist connected with Hero’s jaw, sending them sprawling into the brick wall behind them.
“C’mon now,” Villain said, thrusting a hand out and catching Hero’s throat, pinning them down as they squeezed. “Surely the wonderfully cared for and worshipped Hero can’t be losing to me after a ten minute battle. Are mommy and daddy spoiling you with luxurious food and making you sluggish?”
Hero glared at them, clawing weakly at their hold. “Shut up,” they choked out.
Villain snorted, dangling them for a moment more before dropping them and kicking them hard in the stomach. “Are you getting all the love you ever wanted? Is everyone in the household happy that you’re saving the world over and over and over again?” They slammed their boot into their side. “You’ve gotten cocky, Hero.”
They waited for Hero to get up, to spit nasty retorts in their face, to pounce on them and prove them wrong.
But Hero didn’t even look up.
“What, feeling a little blue?” Villain sneered. “You—,”
“Stop.” Hero’s voice was quiet, low.
Villain barked a laugh. “Stop? If you want me to stop, you have to actually beat me, Hero.”
Hero winced. Actually winced. “Please,” they rasped. “Please stop. Please.”
Villain blinked, reached down to grab the back of Hero’s shirt and yank them up, noticed how when their fingers brushed their skin they flinched back with a sharp inhale.
“What happened to you?” Villain snarked, pulling their hand back. “This better not be a fucking trap or something.”
Hero shifted uncomfortably, and Villain saw the tips of thick, red lines poking out from the top of their shirt.
What the hell?
“Take off your shirt.”
“W-what?”
“Take it off.”
Hero hesitated, then pulled the tattered fabric over their head to reveal angry whip marks etched across their back, some of them reopened no doubt from their fight. Their ribs were clearly visible through their skin, and Villain now noticed just how pale they were.
“Who did it?”
“Like you care.”
When Villain didn’t say anything, Hero sighed, clenching their fists. “...My dad. But I’m fine,” they added.
Villain couldn’t hide their surprise. “No, no you’re not. You look like shit.” Hero opened their mouth to retort, but Villain cut them off. “You’re coming with me.”
“Hell no. You don’t give a fuck about me,” Hero spat harshly. “All you ever talk about is the fact that I have the most perfect life ever and—,”
Villain grabbed their arm and yanked them up with a little too much force, eliciting a yelp of pain.
“I don’t know what you want to hear from me, but I’m still taking you with me, whether you like it or not. I’m not letting you go back to your house.”
“Y-you can’t just do that!” Hero struggled, but eventually tapered off as the injuries on their back got the best of them.
“I can. And I will.” Villain hoisted them into a bridal carry, careful not the rouse their whip wounds. “Just rest. You can be all angry and shit later.”
Hero glowered at them for as long as they were awake, which wasn’t more than five minutes, but Villain still found it amusing.
“I’m sorry,” Villain whispered in Hero’s ear before they finally drifted off.
