Found throughout the Eastern US, especially in western North Carolina and the Appalachian Mountains, these adorable big salamanders rely on large, flat rocks in streams for shelter and breeding. Hikers removing or stacking rocks from the streams pose a big problem for these guys, so if you see a man-made rock stack always take it down!

Saddest thing ever is reading an academic paper about a threatened or declining species where you can tell the author is really trying to come up with ways the animal could hypothetically be useful to humans in a desperate attempt to get someone to care. Nobody gives a shit about the animals that “don’t affect” us and it seriously breaks my heart
Not quite halfway through art school and my to go lunches now consist of 4 raw eggs in my lunch box that I use to make scrambled eggs in the school microwave and then pour half a jar of salsa over to make it edible. Terrified to see what my diet will look like when I graduate
