hi all, this is oddly specific but a friendly reminder to check up on your queer/trans friends with catholic backgrounds today!
the pope is dead. there are varying feelings going around this, but many of us are scared because pope franics was honestly relatively considerate of the lgbtq+ community (for a pope), and the next pope is not super likely to be, which affects way more than you'd think in some religious communities and households.

I'm coming here from Pinterest where I've been posting these for months, so I thought I should dump them here. That being said I refuse to post them one at a time, there are way too many. Seriously I have an ungodly amount of these. So here's part 1.
That's awesome đ It really is so perfect!
Rings of Power meme dump part 2!
Wanted to share this edit I made a while ago for Elendil and MĂriel. I'm not one for romantic subplots but I liked the writing for them. The song is The Diving Bell by my beloved The Crane Wives.
It is the first edit I've made, so any thoughts are welcome :)
I think some of the audio clips are spaced out too much, I'd do it a little differently now.
I've also got a few more thoughts on tRoP Crane Wives edits I may get to at some point.
Reminds me of when I went to a Renaissance festival with a big wooden staff and I was so excited because I didn't have to worry about my balance so much. And then it still took me months to start using a cane even just at home
A reminder that if you didnât need a mobility aid you wouldnât be day dreaming and fantasizing about how they would help you navigate the world and that no matter how much internalized ableism you hold it wonât change your reality about your conditions and you SHOULD do what is best for you because no one will punish you more than yourself if you keep ignoring your needs
Part: 133/?
Character Thoughts - Elwing
I donât think that Elwing throwing herself into the ocean had anything to do with possessiveness about the Silmaril. For me, it recalls two other scenes in Tolkienâs work.
One is Frodoâs defiance at the Ford of Bruinen: âBy Elbereth and LĂșthien the Fair, you shall have neither the Ring nor me!â A desperate defiance against evil when youâre at the end of your rope and the end of your strength (and retreat to water, and unexpected rescue).
And the other, even more strongly, is the Fall of Fingolfin. Sheâs just lost a desperate battle; she sees everything she knows and loves and has built falling into ruin and fire; she canât stop any of it. But she can fight the people who did this to her, and she can hurt them, even if it kills her. She canât outright duel Maedhros (heâs been probably the greatest swordsman in Beleriand for ten times longer than sheâs been alive; that would quite possibly be a more unequal fight than the Duel of Fingolfin and Morgoth), but she still has a way to hurt him. You donât get the Silmaril, and you donât get to kill me. You donât get to win.
The central thought underlying it is not âmineâ; it is âfuck youâ.
It is not about her keeping the Silmaril; it is about the Fëanorians not getting it.
I donât think she knows just how well sheâs succeeding at hurting them - everything in her life tells her the FĂ«anorians are monsters as bad as or worse than anything from Angband, not beings capable of remorse - but she knows sheâs denying them the one thing they want. And Maedhros and Maglor are left knowing that the worst thing theyâve ever done was, as far as their goals are concerned, completely pointless.
Sheâs not âabandoning her childrenâ. Sheâs already lost her children. She has no way to save them. She has no reason to believe they would be spared, whatever she did. The twins are of no use to the FĂ«anorians. The FĂ«anorians have already shown themselves willing to murder children, her brothers, that actually did have value as hostages. If Elwing handed over the Silmaril thereâs no reason for her to believe they wouldnât just kill her and her children for spite.
It canât be emphasized enough that the FĂ«anorians are the monsters of Elwingâs life. Angband is a distant name and a threat. The murderers of Elwingâs father, her mother, her brothers, the twice-destroyers of her home, are the FĂ«anorians. They are her Morgoth.
Elrond: Hostage or not, sometimes it's nice being held.
Gil-galad: Are you okay?
My experience with being oriented aroace is basically just not sexual or romantic attraction but a secret third thing but idk what the secret third thing is and tbh I don't care what it is, I just know that Women
