How to add percentages to numbers Word Problems (Alberta Grade 7 curriculum)
Example
Janis goes to a restaurant and spends $32.45 dollars. There is a 5% GST tax and she leaves a 15% percent tip. How much is the total bill?
Steps
1.) Add both percentages together. 15 + 5 = 20. Therefore, treat this as adding 20% to the bill.
2.) Convert the percentage into a decimal. Percent means out of a hundred, which means we can convert to a fraction as well. This turns into 20/100. If still stuck on how to get a decimal, divide the fraction. The answer will be 0.20.
3.) Multiply aforementioned decimal by original number. This will be 6.49.
4.) Add the product and original number together. That is your final answer. ($38.94.)
happy late trans visibility day,.. have an apology bird
just found this picture from an assignment i did last year
public service announcement for all skk and skk-adjacent writers out there:
it may be very tempting to go from Dazai calling Chuuya "petit mafia" (like some translations I can't find right now do) to an endearing pet name like using the French possessive form and get "mon petit mafia". HOWEVER, that string of words makes absolutely no sense in French:
The word "mafia" is feminine, so it should be "ma petite mafia" (my little mafia [organization])
"mafia" only refers to the group/organization, so unless you want Dazai to refer to Chuuya as his own mafia (which you could), the French translation of "mafioso" is "mafieux" (masc) or "mafieuse" (fem), for "mon petit mafieux" (my little mafioso), but you could also use mafioso as-is as the original Italian word.
Thank you for coming to my ted talk 👍
