I just powered through your fic and it’s probably up there with my favorites right now. I’m extremely impressed by just how much you’ve written in such a short time. I’m very excited to see more, and also enjoy your take on Cassandra. Probably my favorites right now part tbh.
It means so much to me that you love it so much and that you even took the time to come on here to say this. That is so nice of you 💜💜 you all have just been the best and so supportive!
Normally I wouldn't delete a comment on one of my fics, even if they say they don't like it, unless it's someone harassing me, but I am *this* close to doing so to the person who just asked why Vi, a minor, flirts with Jayce. Like, wtf? Have you ever actually talked to another human in real life? If you think that Vi flirts with Jayce at any point in my fic, you seriously need to go outside and experience flirting in real life. And if you know that you're someone who doesn't understand what is and isn't flirting, then don't comment on it.
Sometimes, I hate the internet.
It's uuuuupppp :D :D :D lol
I’m going to try to get the next chapter of “Heart Made of Glass, My Mind of Stone” today, but it’ll most likely happen tomorrow. Fingers crossed I don’t have too much to edit.
Caitlyn continued to ask Vi questions about the wildlife in Zaun as they walked, which led to Caitlyn needing to stop walking because she was laughing so hard at Vi’s recount of a time she once got stuck in a sewer drain after being chased by a massive, deformed gutter rat that chased her from a scrapyard when she was thirteen, fighting it off with nothing more than a dented ladle she had managed to grab from the scrap heap. “Glad you find my extremely traumatic villain origin story so amusing, Cupcake,” Vi sarcastically stated. “I’ll have you know that gutter rats haunt me every waking moment. I jump every time I hear a squeak from a darkened alley.” That just made Caitlyn double over more as she cackled. Vi couldn’t help but think how beautiful she looked at that moment as she felt something shift inside of her again.

Vi and Caitlyn spend the day cleaning up a river in Zaun and make a discovery.

Caitlyn didn’t notice, was unbothered, or ignored Vi tensing at their proximity. “When is Powder and Ekko’s match?” Vi swallowed and looked straight ahead as she used the match as a reason to not look at Caitlyn. “I’m, uh—I’m not sure,” she replied. “They are the reigning champions so they may be the last ones to play.” Caitlyn hummed and went back to watching robots rip each other to shreds. Vi sat and tried her best to not breathe through her nose. Or notice every time Caitlyn shifted to clap, cheer, or laugh and brush their shoulders together. But Vi couldn’t help but allow herself to indulge a look (just one look, she told herself) when Caitlyn turned to the woman next to her, who was the aunt of one of the kids in the match, to strike up a conversation.

Vi and Powder have a conversation. Caitlyn experiences a night of fun in Zaun.
I have 4500 words of the next chapter written, but the Vikings are currently losing and I'm annoyed lol. We'll see how much I'm able to focus if we lose the game :( maybe writing will help get my mind off of it
Cassandra hummed. “You mentioned before that you are not trusting a Kiramman, you are trusting me as Cassandra. Would my last name have anything to do with why Caitlyn was upset after the Remembering?” Vi felt her heart squeeze painfully. “What does that have to do with anything?” “Because I am her mother who loves her dearly,” Cassandra stated very simply. Vi looked away from her, the pain of her and Caitlyn’s conversation on the bridge that night clawed at her throat. “It wouldn’t be fair to her for me to hate her name and be with her,” she confessed quietly. “She’s an honest person, who loves people deeply. I don’t know if I could return that kind of love after everything I’ve been through because of people like you, or how you used to be.”

Okay, so I decided to go with it. It'll make for a better story. Essentially, if anyone wants a sneak peak, I changed it so that Vander and Cassandra have never met. If you remember, he escorted her with Grayson when Vi met her for the first time and she says something about talking with Vander about Vi's community service. And then Cassandra mentions meeting him briefly it in the most recent chapter, but I've never actually written a scene with them.
Hmmm. I'm kind of thinking of doing something I haven't done yet and going back to change up something super, super minor about Heart Made of Glass in the very beginning. It wouldn't effect the plot that's already happened at all (or if it does it would be so minor I think some people might not even notice), but it would help amp up the drama ever so slightly for future plans.
Not sure how I feel about changing something I've already posted beyond grammar/spelling errors. If any one who reads "Heart Made of Glass, My Mind of Stone" would care, let me know. Still pretty on the fence about it.
This is what happens when you start a story and post before knowing where it'll go. So far I've been able to avoid this pitfall, but I'm honestly surprised it hasn't been an issue yet given how quickly and casually I've been throwing the plot together. Besides, I've liked the creative challenge of molding the plot to what I've already written in my "canon" of the fic.

Just got a text saying the party I was going tomorrow is cancelled. So guess who has a completely free day to write the next chapter 🙌🏻
“I must say, Cassandra, I had my doubts when you brought Violet along, but she has proven incredibly effective,” Grayson stated the Monday after the Kiramman Gala. “And Caitlyn seems to be quite…taken with her.” “I wasn’t aware you were so interested in the love lives of two teenagers,” Cassandra teased her friend. “These are no mere teenagers,” Grayson reminded them. “It’s a starcrossed romance for the ages, if they don’t break each other’s hearts.” “I fear that discouraging Caitlyn’s pursuit of Violet would only make her want to do it more. She has never once listened to me regarding my opinion on the girls she dates,” Cassandra confessed. “I will say, I think this is different. Caitlyn seems to be more serious about this one. Perhaps it is the fact that Violet is so different from anyone Caitlyn knows, but…”
Vi learns what Cassandra has been up to for the last seven years.
Extra thanks to everyone reading this. We're now over 100,000 words. Everyone who has commented, followed, left kudos, shared the fic, or just a lurking reader: thank you, truly!
Now that a dumb work emergency is over with, I can tackle this beast. This fucking bad boy is 12,300 words long. I got my emotional support Panda Express on the way and I'm going to try to get this beast edited before I leave for work in a few hours.
So, I said in the last chapter notes that this next one might take me a while because it's going to be beefy. I'm 6000 words in and I don't even think I'm halfway 😭😬🤣 thank god I'm a fast typer lol
9000 words and counting 😭😬🤣

hi!! i just want to say how much i love Heart Made of Glass, My Mind of Stone!!! it’s literally the perfect fic and i’m not even exaggerating! i was just wondering how old cait and vi are? i’m assuming it’s the ages they were in ep1 but i always find myself imagining their present self LOL anyways great work as always, im so excited for what’s next :)
Aw you’re so sweet 💜 thank you. They are 17, so slightly older than the first episode. I imagine them a little in between. Vi’s adult hair but not as muscular from beating people up in jail and Caitlyn not as much lean muscle since she’s not an Enforcer. Hope to get the next one out soon. I’m really excited to see what you guys think about this next chapter in particular!
Oh. My. God! It’s gorgeous 😍😍😍😍😍 my heart is full. Thank you so much!! Aaaaahhhh
IT IS DONEEEEEEE here is my little Caitvi fanart based on the outfits worn at the Kiramman Gala in "Heart Made of Glass, My Mind of Stone" by Phoenix314 ( @caitlynkirammansrifle here on tumbr). This may not be an actual scene from that chapter, my little caitvi heart is going to pretend it is. I hope you guys like it and go read this AMAZING fic ❤️❤️
Writing is such a weird hobby. You have these characters in your head that talk to each other and you write down what they say while waiting in the drive thru at McDonald’s because if you don’t you’ll go crazy.
“Thank you, Violet,” she said with more sincerity than Vi had ever heard from her. “You don’t get to thank me,” Vi replied. “She should never have been there. Caitlyn could have been hurt, really hurt, and all because you ordered me to bring her.” Cassandra looked at Vi and with the utmost seriousness said, “I understand that.” Vi glared at her. “I don’t think you do. I am done, Cassandra,” Vi spat. “I am done with these dangerous tasks without you telling me what they’re for. I won’t risk my skin again, and certainly not Caitlyn’s, unless you tell me what is going on here. My life–Caitlyn’s life–is worth more than being some councilor’s bitch while you just sit back and play your gods damned chess match with us. I am not a pawn and I refuse for you to act like my life is some kind of game for you to play with. Either you talk or we are through.”
Vi confronts Cassandra about what she wants with her. Cassandra gives Vi an unexpected and powerful gift.
Here's a little treat for those who followed me because of my "Heart Made of Glass, My Mind of Stone" fic since I might not get this out for a few more days.
“You are right, Violet. You are not a pawn,” Cassandra stated with such an intensity it almost made Vi take a step back she was so intimidated by it. The councilor held out her hand and Vi, after only hesitating for a moment, took what she had been holding. “You are a knight.”
It was a gorgeous, solid emerald knight chess piece laced with copper colored marbling. It sat heavy in Vi’s hand and as she held it up to get a better look at it, the reflection of the fire danced across it, almost making it look alive.
“What does that mean? What is this?” Vi demanded angrily.
“Before you get your answers, and I promise you that you will, answer me this first: why do you think the knight is my favorite piece in the game?” she asked, her tone curious and expectant.
*Subject to change*
“Vi. What are you doing here?” Caitlyn asked. Her voice was not unkind, but it wasn’t that familiar warm or teasing or stubborn tone she was used to hearing. Just emotionless. Vi hated it. “I’m, uh—I wanted to see if—only if you’re okay with it and it’s totally fine if you’re not—” Vi stopped herself. Now was not the time to ramble. Caitlyn’s only reaction was the slightest furrowing in her brow, but she did not throw Vi a single bone. Vi didn’t blame her. Vi looked down, trying to think of what to say. A familiar iron bracelet on Caitlyn’s wrist caught her eye and made her stomach swoop, but her heart twist. She consciously ran her hands over her pocket where her watch was. Just then, a thought came to the Zaunite, one she realized was the easiest answer given that it was the truth, but also something that would potentially have some good come out of this situation.
Cassandra has another strange assignment for Vi, with orders to bring Caitlyn with her. Vi has a proposal for Caitlyn.
So I do have a lot of the next chapter written, there’s just once scene that’s given me trouble. I’ve been going over it my head at work so I think I’ll be able to get the next one out tomorrow before I leave for out of town. No promises, but I’ll my best
I'll do my best to get one more chapter out this weekend, but I really want to make sure I get this next one in particular right. I work weekends and I have an overnight trip planned Sunday-Monday, so there might not be another update until next week. Trust me everyone, it'll be worth it!
I figure posting over 75,000 words in two weeks has earned me a little leeway and good will 😅🤣 maybe I'll post a snippet to keep you guys fed until it's finished, but no promises
“So, er—I don’t know if you know,” Vi started, “but Zaun celebrates The Remembering instead of Progress Day.” “Yes, I’m aware,” Cassandra replied, curiously glancing up at Vi from her letters. “Well, since you’ve been okay with me taking Caitlyn to Zaun—for whatever reason—would it be okay if I took her to experience The Remembering?” Vi asked, then started talking quickly, as if Cassandra would say yes if she could justify it fast enough. “I know it’s the night of the Progress Day Ball, but she’s been to a million of those already and I think it’d be good for her to see what The Remembering is. It’s a really safe day, we actually jokingly call it a vacation from crime. Even the Chembarons won’t break that tradition.” “Violet, breathe,” Cassandra instructed with a laugh. “Yes, you may bring Caitlyn with you. I agree, it’d be good for her to experience it.”

Caitlyn hummed. “I’m not sure if you’re aware, Powder, but I have quite a strong connection to the Artificers Guild,” she said. “If you’d like, and when you’re ready, I could see if they’ll be willing to hear a presentation of your hoverboard from you and Ekko.” Powder looked like she was going to pass out. “You’d—you’d do that?” she whispered. Caitlyn smiled. “Of course. It sounds like an incredible invention.” Powder looked at her in awe. “You are officially the coolest person I know.” Vi scoffed in offense. “What about me?” Powder completely ignored her and grabbed Caitlyn’s hand to pull her down the street. “Come with me! Vi said you’re a really good dancer. You've got to check out this place down the street. One of the innovators created a band of instruments that play by themselves!”
Caitlyn finally gets her tour of The Lanes.
Update. I figured it out. It did, indeed, make my brain go brrrrr 😂
"Write a political intrigue in-universe CaitVi fic," my brain says. "Write and post 60,000 words in less than two weeks," my brain says.
"Have a huge gala scene with lots of characters and advance the intrigue and have Caitlyn and Vi be each other's date to it, so there's gotta be some tension, but also don't forget the plot, oh and make it opulent and majestic, but be sure that Vi has conflicted feelings about being at such a party because she's from Zaun, but also make sure her and Cassandra have some great moments, too. BUT DON'T FORGET THE PLOT!"
Sometimes I hate my brain.
Despite all that, it's still so fun :D makes my brain go brrrrr when I figure it all out
“Does this have something to do with why you wanted Caitlyn to escort me to this?” Vi asked with a raised eyebrow. Cassandra smiled and gave Vi a look that told her she was right. “Let’s see if, by the end of the night, you can guess why, specifically, I wanted that spotlight on you and Caitlyn, and by extension, myself.” Vi thought back, again, to Caitlyn wondering why her mom was playing chess with her and changing the rules. Vi felt like this was one of those moments, but she just couldn’t figure out why Cassandra was playing it with her, as well. “Ah, here comes Councilor Bolbok,” Cassandra said, plastering on a bright smile. Game time, Vi thought to herself. She took a sip of her drink and braced herself for the onslaught.
Vi attends the Kiramman Gala as Caitlyn's date, officially being introduced to Piltover high society. If that weren't nerve wracking enough, Cassandra has another strange task for Vi to complete during the party.

When Caitlyn reached the bottom of the staircase, she approached Vi with a smirk. “I know I said you have a thick head, but I don’t believe it is so thick that I have to remind you to breathe.” Vi, who had started to feel a little lightheaded, realized she had, indeed, stopped breathing. She inhaled sharply, feeling her heart protesting the lack of oxygen in her chest—that was the only reason it was pounding, Vi told herself. The Zaunite cleared her throat and said. “You look good, Cupcake.” Vi mentally cringed at how awkward she sounded. Caitlyn let out a light laugh. “Thank you, Vi. You clean up rather handsomely yourself,” she said, not even bothering to hide the way she slowly looked down and back up Vi’s suit. More than Vi’s ears turned hot.
Vi finds something strange at Jayce's laboratory. The evening of the Kiramman Gala has arrived.
