Exploring Different Concepts For Onyx’s Backstory

remembering what past versions of Onyx looked and acted like… so I wrote them down

I literally created Onyx right after Sonic 3 came out, and she’s already on her sixth version.

(Also, typing out “sixth” felt so wrong. It doesn’t even look like a real word.)

Anyway…

Ok, so, I start with a planning document, writing down whatever vague idea I have in my head.

And then, I add to it.

And then (once I have enough of an idea), I create several more documents over whatever amount of time it takes for me to get a semi-clear outline done.

And then, I continue to modify my outline while writing my main story.

…and that’s as far as I’ve gotten.

The only difference is that the one on the right is at 175% zoom instead of only 100% zoom.

these are just…too pretty not to share

this was just me trying to see what shade my mixture of paint was (I was using gouache)

and these were the halves of paper towels I put under my paper while painting

drew some more mushrooms with alcohol markers and outlined it with paint pens

The mushrooms with the pink outline and the mushrooms with the orange outline were already there. I just drew the mushroom with the blue outline.

The white outlines were a bit janky… but it was hard to see the edges of the mushrooms (since I used darker colors for the mushrooms and was drawing in a semi-dark room.

Otherwise, I’m really happy with my little mushroom drawing!

First time drawing Sonic characters!! 🥳

I drew Fleetway first, lol. I was so glad it didn’t turn into a complete disaster.

I drew my OC, Onyx, next (she’s Shadow’s sister)! I’ve been wanting to post about her for a while, and I’m glad I finally got around to drawing her!! 💜

I’m so glad I finally got around to drawing Sonic characters! Can’t wait to do more (if I even remember, lol)!

Onyx’s design is getting better and better.

And I’m finally able to draw hands more decently!
