I’ve only seen season one of squid game but I think the scene that sticks most in my mind is the very first game. red light, green light.
no one who signed up for it knew they would actually die if they lost any of the games and the reason most people died in that game is because they didn’t know that and freaked out when they saw that the first person to lose was actually dead.
so many of them ran to the door to try and get out and then all got shot by the doll :(
i feel like whitaker just… doesn’t yell. like he can obviously yell when he’s scared or it’s like necessary but he just doesn’t really raise his voice. if he’s frustrated he just grits his teeth, sighs through his nose, and carries on.
santos — because she is the way she is (and i love her for it) — keeps trying to get him to break. it unnerves her how he just doesn’t seem to get mad at her. oh he definitely gets annoyed and exhausted, but he doesn’t raise his voice. when she won’t stop kicking him in the ass when he’s fixing the clogged sink drain he just… lets her do it. if she’s being lazy and wants some ice cream from the freezer but doesn’t want to get up she only has to whine for a few minutes before he groans and gets it for her.
she’s trying to see his boundaries. to see how far she can push until he proves that he’s just like every other man she’s met and the fact that he won’t fold irks the shit out of her. idk i don’t think they’d ever really talk about it, but whitaker is a smart cookie and would probably figure out what she’s trying to do a few months in. he’d probably casually drop that his older brothers yelled at him all the time and then his poor mom would yell herself hoarse trying to get them to quit and oh here comes his dad yelling for everyone to shut the hell up. so he’s just always been quiet. quiet little dennis who once walked on a broken ankle for a few days because he didn’t wanna bother anyone.
and santos learns to live with that. to live comfortably with a guy who won’t scream at her or hurt her even when he gets mad at her. she learns to relax. to stop waiting for the other shoe to drop.

THE PITT -> Similarities between Dr. Trinity Santos and Dr. Frank Langdon
(potential) ways people find out santos and whitaker are close/living together:
whitaker calling santos "trin" in front of their coworkers, santos not batting an eye and answering to it, and both of them pausing suddenly when they realize what happened.
santos putting an arm around whitaker's shoulders and ruffling his hair at random intervals throughout the day.
one of them instinctively stepping in front of the other when a fight breaks out in the hospital.
accidentally falling asleep while leaning on each other in the break room after a long shift.
santos handing whitaker a shopping list while passing him in the hallway.
one getting injured/passing out and immediately asking for the other when they wake up, still half-asleep.
^ alternate scenario: getting put on meds and saying something disgustingly sentimental. if it's whitaker, santos would get a bit emotional in the moment but will definitely make fun of him when he's sober. if it's santos, she'll be stuck wondering why whitaker looks so pleased with himself until someone tells her what happened.
discussing what they're going to eat for dinner while everyone is clocking out.

something about how losing a mentor figure and blaming himself for it fucked robby up so bad he couldn't work on the anniversary of his death for 3 years. how he tries and tries and tries to find hope, to find a way to make death easier to accept, to work hard enough that blame is impossible (even though he'll blame himself anyway). something about santos losing a close friend, a confidante, maybe one of the only people in the world who had gone through the same shit she had, and it sticking with her so intensely that she risked everything multiple times to get to the truth, to get to emotional cores of situations even when she didn't have to. something about samira "we don't bring our baggage to the job" mohan getting upset with the dad who refused to admit he was an addict. something about javadi losing it with the dad who loved his son but couldn't just love his son. something about mckay understanding addicts, understanding people and parents who risk everything for their kids. something about abbot spending three hours trying to save a vet. something about how the pitt looks you dead in the eye and says don't you forget for one second that these doctors are people too.
dennis whitaker is such a wet cat he canonically kills rats. let that sink in.
