Might draw fanart of this if I can remember.
I've been thinking about what the outcome would be if Icicle actually fought Glacier. and well, I think I have an outcome that would make a nice little short story. Icicle lay on a bed within the palace infirmary. To her, today would have been better if she had just died. She had assumed the worst outcome to challenging her aunt would be her death. Icicle knew that at the end of this day, she would either sit upon the throne of the icewings, or be dead. She never considered this outcome. Her rear right claw, what is left of it, lay bandaged, the blue blood staining the bandages. “What good is a daughter who fails at her only purpose!” The words of her mother rang in her head. This is the single worst day of her life, and the reason just walked through the doorway. “Princess Icicle?” A shiver went down her spine as Icicle raised her head. Trying to get up to stand at attention. “No no, don’t get up. I don’t want you to pass out.” Icicle shifted in the bed. “So, have you come to banish me to some far off island?” Glacier did her best to comfort her previous challenger. “Actually, I don’t want you to go anywhere.” Icicle looks rather surprised. “From this day forward. Your mother and father are relieved of authority over you. From now on. You answer to me and me alone.” Icicle takes a minute to respond “why? Why are doing this?” Glacier lets out a sigh. “Because I never cared for how your parents have treated you. To Tundra, to Narwhal, they have ever only seen you has a tool to gain power. To kill me, and be the power behind the throne with you as queen. They manipulated you, never truly caring about the dragoness that they were supposed to protect and raise.” Glacier breathed in, then let out another sigh. “So no, you are not banished. In fact, I would prefer if you remained on palace grounds for the foreseeable future. So please, rest up, it will take time for you to heal. We'll talk about what comes next tomorrow.”... (end of WIP)
It's hard to find a good place to put your roos. 50/50 chance for a male, what do you do when you don't need half your flock
So! I went to visit the nice lady with the rooster sanctuary, it seems like a passion project for her and her family. She couldn’t remember exactly which boys were mine, so we looked all over her flock and I couldn’t see any of them! Most likely, unless some were hiding, they all got adopted! So, I still want some more boys in my flock, I took two New Sons home with me instead! They’ll be quarantined in the little coop behind my house for two weeks, but here they are!
I was convinced this was one of mine until I looked more closely at his feet - I thought this was the Favaucana with 5 toes on one foot and four on the other. But, he’s got normal toesies. Still, while the lady was holding him while I looked at the rest of the flock, he started falling asleep in her arms, which was so sweet I decided to take him anyway! I love that beard, and I was hoping for a black rooster!
And this guy! Such a pretty boy, with big sweet eyes, and a gentle demeanor. In this photo, you can see the black roo has a split comb, I actually think it looks awesome and unique even though it’s technically a flaw.
So yeah! Fun stuff! I hope they both grow up to be gentlemen, and that they’ll get along with everyone!
about to drop literally the sickest insider knowledge you will ever receive pls use it responsibly:
are you a teenager? do you wish you had the space & resources & organization to do a thing, whether that's an anime club or a movie night or a big craft workshop or creative writing group or literally whatever? would you like to do your thing totally for free? yes?
okay, then bring it up to a librarian
seriously, teenagers are the absolute hardest group to engage at most libraries & we'll often organize programs that absolutely no one will show up to & it sucks. if you go up to a public librarian & say "hey, some friends & i want to do this thing. does that sound like a feasible teen program for the library?" most people will move heaven & earth to pull it off for you because we know there's an interest in our community. we will go balls to the freaking wall to make it happen
do you want a cosplay contest? a video game tournament? a free escape room? bring it up to the library. it's not a burden or an annoyance at all. it'll be like christmas came early for us
Liked this OC so I drew it. I just really like the idea of a dragonet having absorbed their twin being able to live a fairly normal life despite their differences
I also wanted to experiment with simplistic background designs and funny textures.
Another stinker!! I made Scorch and then fell in love with the idea of branching tails.
Tokay doesn’t have a mutation like he does, she absorbed her twin in her egg and now has a mini wing, a branching tail, and a spare left horn just above her ear! None of these have ever bothered her and the scales change color just fine.
She’s like most other Rainwings, rather unadventurous and enjoying her sun time, but she’s very smart and cares deeply for her tribe.
my first actual post oh no scary
prince horizon of the skywings with his lyre!!!! :D i adore him sorry
(a liar and a player too?!??!)
Gill with and without water
Forcing myself to draw the entire body rather than limiting myself to headshots. Still haven’t worked my way to drawing wings, however.
Revisited my concept for King Gill and fleshed it out a bit, both his hydrated and dehydrated states. His appearance was primarily inspired by Mufasa (I even referenced one of his poses) and a little bit of King Triton with the goal of making him look kingly and paternal. As I’ve mentioned previously, I like to give SeaWings (and all the wings really) facial hair when I think it fits the character. I also have him a gill patch, which my Orca design inherited,
While in the arena, he loses most of his ‘beard’ and sail as it dries up and shrivels. He’s also very underweight, and the lack of water has given him a shrink wrapped appearance, emphasizing his bones and musculature. He has sores and scratches from where he’s been chained around the neck and ankles. He’s completely feral, almost zombie-like. He’s just overall gross and crusty.
Bonus Coral cause I also redid her sketch. Gave her much more simplified jewelry inspired by Ponyo’s mother.

Here's how this repository works: all photos were taken by me, a human, at zoos, aquariums, sanctuaries, and other facilities with animals in human care. There is no AI involved in the photo editing or creation and there never will be. Right now there's 56 species on the site; my catalog has over 300 and I will be uploading the rest of them as fast as I can.
Artists creating derivative or transformative works (without AI) have blanket permission to use these references. Yes, even for work you're going to sell.
All other usage/reproduction requires permission, but assume I'm friendly and please do ask! That's educators, researchers, the media, people who need images for a school presentation, etc. This is just to retain copyright/control in case they're scraped/reused unethically - it doesn't meant I don't want folk to have access! So please do reach out via the contact form on the repository website, I don't bite and I'm most likely going to say yes.
Please don't repost the repository photos to your own blogs: I've created @animalphotorefs as a dedicated blog to share photos from the site, and of course I'll reblog a lot of it here! That again just helps with retaining copyright and sourcing of the images. If you really want to repost some for a specific purpose, please just ask me first!
Also, folks, this project has no funding. It's just me and my camera.
There will never be a paywall on the site - I believe resources like this absolutely must be free for everyone to access. So please, please, please support the repository if you use it. Want sneak peeks at photos, cute videos I take, or to help choose what I photograph and what gets posted first? You can do that through Patreon (and there's a free trial on the most interactive tier!) If you'd like to just drop a tip, I've also set up a Ko-Fi.
I can't wait to hear what everyone thinks of the repository.
To whet your thirst for cute photos, here's an Indian rhinoceros contemplating a goose.
