More Sydcarmy because they have me in a chokehold
our beautiful life when it’s filled with shrieks by Christopher Citro // The love cook by Ron Padgett // Kitchen song-Tessa Violet // Sweet Nothing-Taylor Swift // lesdemonium tumblr // Everything leads to you by Nina Lacuor // Right in time-Lucinda Williams
Me when I remember that Sydney was the first person to make Carmy smile and laugh
Claire remembering Carmy’s nickname and knowing exactly what he was going to name the restaurant and Carmy not even remembering her name is top tier unintentional comedy
I love the idea that once Carmy makes it clear to everyone he doesn’t want to be with Claire, Richie and Fak immediately make it their job to get him and Syd together
Should’ve taken the hint when he gave you a fake phone number
on pete:
at first, i was confused about what pete represented. i felt like something was a little off about him, maybe he’s just there to be the dumb husband or the comedic value.
the last episode of season 2 confused me as well; for the life of me, i could not understand why he was crying so damn hard. him begging for donna to come back in, him crying in front of nat, it all confused me. but i just realized, like two seconds ago, who and what pete is.
pete’s the good. pete is love, unblemished by everything the berzatto family has been broken by.
there is no catch with pete, but in a show where everyone has something wrong with them, in a show where love is shown in ways that seem more like hate, pete’s irregular.
pete is someone who is utterly devoted to his wife in a way that’s selfless, not even separated from his own motives, because his motives are in his wife’s interest.
pete loves his wife in a way that’s so different from the berzatto family’s version of love.
pete loves the berzatto family in a way that they cannot love themselves.
that’s why pete seems so irregular, because people like him are. pete’s good, pure and full of love. pete sees the brokenness of this family and tries his best to support them in every way he can.
Carmy having to ask if Claire is his girlfriend after literally buying Syd a personalized Thom Browne jacket, telling Syd he couldn’t do this without her, he wouldn’t even want to do this without her, and she makes him better at this, picturing Syd to calm himself down from an intense panic attack, yelling Syd’s name when he got stuck in the fridge, saying he felt like he should’ve known that her mom died, and saying you deserve my full focus and nothing less. Yeah buddy you have a girlfriend it’s just not Claire.
As much as I want to see a moment where Carmy meets Syds dad, I’d like to see a scene where Donna meets Syd. Ofc course Carmy would be terrified that Donna would have one of her freak outs so he’s freaking out, but instead she just glances at her and back at him and just asks “does she make you happy?” and he responds “yeah um, yeah she makes me really happy.” And she just smiles or walks away or something. Because I like to think that after Mikey, she just wants her kids to be happy and loved in the way she couldn’t.
Listen LISTEN I will not defend all of Carmy’s behavior this season but I will always defend him breaking down and crying after confronting David. Because imagine standing up to someone who made your life a living hell for several years, after you finally got the courage to do so and you tell them about how their behavior hurt you and how it still does and all they have to say is that they don’t give a fuck. Then you have every right to break down in a hallway.
