Ninjago Oc Secret Santa 2023

What is a Secret Santa? - A Secret Santa is a gift giving event; you'll be assigned someone to secretly make a gift for, and someone will make a gift for you. - It's very important that no one knows that you are making them a gift and vice versa, that you don’t know who is making you a gift! - This event is a writing and art event! Are there any rules? - Absolutely no N/S/F/W or Suggestive content is permitted for prompts, gifts, or references. This is /not/ an 18+ event. - No direct contact with the person you're making a gift for; you can communicate through me or someone helping run the event, or ask through anon on tumblr if you can. - No AI art/writing, Gacha edits, face claims, picrews, or bases will be permitted for oc reference submissions or gifts. - Oc x Canon and Oc x Oc ships are 100% allowed. - Fankids, sonas, and self inserts are also allowed; my only rule is that fankids of Lloyd x Canon ships are not permitted. - Please respect requests regarding holiday or seasonal preferences when making a gift. Don't depict an oc participating in a holiday or seasonal activity that the creator asked not be depicted. How many ocs can be submitted total? - At least one oc is required, but up to three can be submitted ^^ What will I need for sign ups? - Refs or art that show a clear, colored depiction of your oc. - OR at least two pieces of writing for said oc (does not need to be a whole fic. Could easily just be a quick blurb showing how they’re written as a character) - Basic Information/Fun Facts about your character. This can be background information, relationships, likes/dislikes, age and height, personality, etc. - Suggestions or prompts for your gift giver. Stuff to help get their brain going. - Your blog name (not the name you go by online but the url name. Like @/Ninjago-Oc-Appreciation. Make sure it's a tumblr url, and not from any other social media) What's the general timeline for this event? - Sign ups will officially begin near the end of October, around the week of Halloween. - Assignments will be within the first couple of weeks of November. - You will have until December 23rd to January 7th to finish your piece. These will be the designated posting days. - January 8th to 14th will be the designated late week. How do I sign up? - In Late October, I'll post a google form where you can submit your oc(s)! There will be one for writing and one for art! - Please reach out to me in someway after signing up. This can be through messages, asks, comments, etc. In the past we've had issues with the forms, where they'd "eat' a submission, and I'd like to know when to check to make sure this doesn't happen again. Additional Notes: - The forms won't collect your email, I turn off any settings that will to ensure privacy. If they are requiring you to sign in, tell me so I can look into why. - This year I am joined by @totally-not-into-drama! They have offered to help with assignments, so expect to get a message from either me or them when the time comes! - We'll be using #NOSS2023 and #SecretNinja2023 as tags for this event! That's all! Battinson being a complete child magnet.

He is so done with being a CEO with Responsibilities and would rather just hang out with his neighbors' kids and play with legos or color or some shit, and kids are incredibly perceptive to this.

They can tell when an Adult isn’t an Adult Adult. And Battinson is barely an Adult in any right. At best, he’s an angsty teenager in a 28yo body. So when they see him on the street looking like he would rather be watching cartoons than go to work at nine in the morning, they just run up to him and say, “Wanna see the chalk art I made?!” or “What’s your favorite animal? Mine’s a porcupine :)” and their parents do not understand why.

They just can’t grasp how every single child has decided that Bruce is their best friend. They try to stop their little rascals from walking up to Bruce Wayne who probably has places to be at any time of day, but Bruce just goes with it because of course he wants to see their chalk art. It’s better than going to Stupid Meetings.

He is happy to follow some random toddler who grabbed his hand and won’t stop babbling on about nonsense. Some kid wants him to join their tea party? Bruce is honored. He will never turn down the opportunity to play hide and seek with the family across the street.

Bruce gradually becomes the parent/older sibling/friend type for like every single child in Gotham. He is the Go To Babysitter for like half his block (but if we’re being honest, it’s really Alfred. Bruce is just the playmate yk?) Every kid at school is soooo jealous of Dick because his dad is that cool rich guy that buys everyone ice cream at the park and braids their hair on Career Day and will sneak them candy from the top shelf when their parents aren’t looking.

He just has that EnergyTM with kids. Bruce is not a guardian figure. He’s one of them. He’s their imaginary friend come to life. He is an Adult Child, and he has money to spend, and he knows exactly how they feel, and he is completely down to making a castle out of marshmallows instead of Doing Work.

Then one day, some middle schooler meets Batman, gets the exact same vibe from him, and goes, “Wait a minute.”

Characters being compared to dogs always use terriers or pitbulls or something for their metaphors. “They grab on and they don’t let go” “They keep worrying at it until it’s dead” etc.

Anyway, I want to see collies used as metaphors. Albert Payson Terhune style. “He was like an attack dog–making slash-and-run attacks, cutting them up worse every time, never staying in range long enough to get hurt but circling back over and over.”

Some class 1-H headcanons for peace of mind:

Hanabusa watches nature documentaries to calm down.

Endomoto really likes trains and railways of all kinds

Hanabusa makes his own tea leaves. Endomoto likes to help harvest them. Hanabusa enjoys the company.

The entire class let a bunch of slinkies loose down the stairs, but Power Loader covered for them, saying that it was for "experimental purposes"

Hatsume isn't the only reason why Power Loader has a few more gray hairs since the start of the year.

Bushida really hates sudden loud noises.

It reminds him too much of when he lost his leg.

This puts a tiny strain on his and Hatsume's friendship at first, but Hatsume tries to tone down the noise, and eventually, Bushida gets used to it.

Daguchi knits, and when he concentrates, he stays awake for hours, just steadily knitting.

Tucker likes lavender ice cream.

Chinen's parents are divorced, and she hasn't seen her mother in a very long time.

Chinen and Hatsume did not get along for a good chunk of their first year, mainly due to creative/personality differences.

Despite Tucker's quiet and shy nature, she really likes dressing pastel colours.

Endomoto had a crush on Chinen around the beginning of first year, but ultimately realised that he likes her better as a friend.

Daguchi, Tucker, Hatsume, and Hanabusa are the sarcasm team of class 1-H

Chinen, Endomoto, and Bushida are the "Kill 'em with kindness" trio

They're a very tight-knit group; mainly because they're a small class.

When Endomoto isn't concentrating, sometimes little puffs of steam escape from his mouth.

Hatsume goes to Hanabusa and Tucker to get her locs retwisted.

Chinen has a horrible vendetta against pomegranates. Nobody knows why, and they're afraid to ask.

Hanabusa is very close with his grandmother. In contrast, Chinen is very close to her grandfather.

Hatsume's eyes glow in the dark. She has scared everyone in her class at least once, just by sitting in the dark kitchen of the dorms.

Their heights go from this order (tallest to shortest):

Bushida, Hanabusa, Tucker, Daguchi, Endomoto, Hatsume, Chinen.

Daguchi tends to lean on people a lot. Taller or shorter, it doesn't matter.

Endomoto cannot tie his tie properly, and it drives Daguchi insane.

He has a bit of a baby face

Tucker gestures with her hands a lot when she speaks.

It's very difficult to tell when Tucker and Hanabusa are joking.

Bushida is pretty tall and intimidating, but he has the personality of a golden retriever.

Out of all the students, Daguchi has the most connections to the upperclassmen, which everyone else is mystified with.

They have all called Power Loader "Dad" on purpose at least once.
