@mambocat I don’t know if you’ll care about my opinion or not but here it goes. When I was younger I used to not like the idea of Sonic with humans. Mostly because of my exposure to the story of Sonic X. I hated Chris like the majority of the fandom. I guess when I finally was able to play the adventure games I associated the humans with Chris and not like them automatically. As I got older I started to realize, ”Wait, Dr. Eggman is a human so why shouldn't there be others?” I’m fine with humans being with Sonic now because that’s how it always was intended. We just don’t see humans as much in other games because humans have their own countries while Mobians have their’s. I like to think the Sonic and human relationship is like the humans and Crystal gems on Steven Universe. They know he exists but they don’t bother asking questions except for a select few. It’s been awhile since I played a Sonic game with humans so i don’t know how much my headcanon holds.
So Sonic shouldn’t be getting any crap from people just because he’s different. That’s what it all comes down to.
So I need to just take a moment to poop on everyone’s party…I just watched the trailer for “Super Mario Odyssey,” and while it does indeed look very interesting, I can’t help but feel salty over the double standard being utilized here.
So the trailer starts with what appears to be New York or some other large REAL WORLD city, with actual humans - as in realistic ones - walking around minding their own business, and then SUDDENLY here comes Mario with his signature whoo hoo to turn everything into fodder for his cartoon physics.
Now that in and of itself is not a bad thing, no problem with the premise itself. My issue is…fairly simple to understand and may even come off as petty but I’ll risk it regardless.
If everyone is excited about Mario being in the real world…
WHY IN GOD’S NAME WAS IT CONSIDERED A HORRIBLE IDEA FOR SONIC AND STILL IS TO THIS DAY?!
As soon as Mario does it, all that talk about “oh Sonic is a cartoon hedgehog and he doesn’t belong in a realistic universe” goes out the window. You can’t praise Mario for doing it and then say Sonic doesn’t belong when they’re both video game characters who are clearly “out of place” in the world they’re in.
The only difference I can foresee happening here is that Mario won’t have much of a “story” as usual despite the name “odyssey” and Mario of course won’t talk.
And if that does turn out to be the key difference, then Sonic being in the real world was never the problem as so many people claim. The issue was the story itself. How dare someone take a silent protagonist and try to give him a personality?
SEGA tried everything to “backpedal” from the hyper realistic art style, making the humans more cartoony as opposed to actually looking like real life humans. But it didn’t matter, Sonic was still in the “real” world and thus it was bad.
Only when humans (sans Eggman) were cut out altogether were so-called fans happy with the world Sonic lived in again. Where all the humans? Who cares, Sonic shouldn’t be with humans anyway.
But apparently this is okay, because it’s Mario instead of Sonic. Real humans? Yeah that’s okay! It’s about time Mario ventured past the Mushroom Kingdom a little bit!
I call BS, hard.
Since Mario did what he did, then I don’t wanna hear one godforsaken complaint from ANYONE if Project 2017 decides to go back to using human background characters.
I’ve gotten into debates with gamer friends of mine who say that Sonic in the real world (Earth) actively angers them. I should ask them how they feel about Mario and see if they expose their own hypocrisy.
I’m sorry if this angers anyone who thinks I’m complaining too early, but again, it’s not what Mario did that bothers me, it’s that people will inevitably complain if/when Sonic decides to do the EXACT SAME THING while Mario gets praise for it.
That’s why I say I don’t wanna see anyone get angry with Sonic in the real world…but we all know they will. Because it’s Sonic.
Poor guy, he’s doomed to be hated for all of eternity.
Thank you for responding to my soapbox of a reblog. I mostly made it because I felt guilty for making Jimmy Jr. antagonistic in some of my incorrect BB quotes. Exactly, Tina and Jimmy Jr. are both flawed and still learning as teenagers. The show is from Tina's perspective/the Belcher family's perspective though so it's easier to unintentionally defend Tina too much than look at Jimmy Jr.'s perspective in it I feel. It's not right but it is what it is.
For now, they are just having fun and enjoying the kissing and hand-holding. That's all a 13-year-old needs at that age. I never considered Jimmy Jr. a cheater, I was more mad at him for immediately dumping Becky after Tina decided to be the bigger person and showed she wasn't going to be petty for him. (Also the picture frame thing which I didn't count as cheating either but still a jerk move even though he could put any picture he wants in the frame especially if he wasn't dating Tina at the time) Yeah, Tina and Jimmy Jr. as a pair just don't have an interesting dynamic to me. Too much kissing, petty fighting, and not enough talking to each other as friends with no asterisks so I can actually see something is there besides hormones. The hormones are a part of the joke I know but I still long for something more concrete.
I'm also a sucker for opposites attract pairs so Zeke and Tina were always going to be superior to me even if JJ wasn't so divisive as a character. It goes beyond opposites attract but I don't need to make the reblog as long as the other one.
I love Zeke x Tina, but there's so much Jimmy Jr hate in the community. Like... guys, I get it, he can be a bit sour sometimes... but do you know why that is? He's a TEENAGE BOY, not only that, but his parents are divorced, his dad is very neglectful and puts him down, he looks down on his passion for dance and honesty just gives: "I am a toxic straight dad and when I see the slightest bit of creativity, it means pansy and you will be punished"; he's also said that he feels left out and lonely due to his little brothers being twins and being best friends. He's just a kid, a kid who likes to dance, leave him alone. In my head, in a world were Tina and Zeke end up together, Jimmy Jr would still be there, as the bff. The three of them can't be separated, are you kidding me????
Ugh! I hate waiting so long for the new Bob's Burgers episode! All I ask for is a summary, is that so much? I want to know what's coming up on the 19th of February so bad!
This is super indulgent territory for my Zekina art. Yes, it's more indulgent than the wedding pic for some reason. XD I made this purely for the flowers. I had these flowers made since the wedding picture but decided to scrap it because what I ended up doing was cuter than Tina holding flowers.
I worked hard on the flowers and didn't want them to go to waste, so I reused them for this
I also wanted to put Tina in a cute dress that would contrast Zeke's suit. This is why I originally did the poll post. The post ended up being for nothing though because I ended up using a combination of Peggy Sis's and Chariot's colors from the Equestranauts, sorry. Cowards are the people who don't draw Zeke with his underbite!/j I like to think Zeke said "surprise" the way he did in the mad pooper episode because I think it's funny and cute. Hope you Zekina shippers like what I brought to the table. I'm just glad the flowers didn't go to waste.
She texts her hearts with 8s instead of 3s so they look more like butts. For example, like this <8 or this 8> (very versatile XD) Also, her favorite number is 8 in general because it's the number that looks most like a butt. It's her favorite also because of the infinity symbol and it rhymes with fate.
Tina: *In hall monitor mode, holding down a lying classmate against a locker to get information out of him.* Zeke: I'm so in love with her right now. Louise: What? Zeke: Nothing!
Finally some fanart I drew for once! I had this in the works for awhile. It's not based on anything in canon. I just wanted an excuse to draw Flint mad. So what better way than to have him and the rest protecting Olwen's inner child from her inner demon. If you seen Olwen in previous fanart, I can imagine you're probably curious about something. I encourage you to watch the series, "Shadows of the Old World" though if you are curious about why Olwen is designed differently from how she is as an adult. I just don't think I can do it justice if I explain it myself. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the piece even if you don't plan to watch the series! All characters are associated with Josh Scorcher's Pathfinder campaign series, "Shadows of the Old World".
Adrian belongs to VoiceofReason
Olwen belongs to Aramau
Flint belongs to FinnthePony
Seven belongs to Lightning Bliss
Sybl belongs to Doctor Wolf
Hoshimi belongs to Eliyora
Since we were denied aged-up designs of the Belcher kids in "What About Job". I decided to use my models & put them in the clothes they had in Bob's story. I didn't feel like doing Jimmy Jr. since he was the only one with reused attire
I tried to give Zeke a different hairstyle for his captain attire but I didn't want to part with it. I can't see adult Zeke in anything but a mohawk now. I'll still keep my fingers crossed for the day we get official aged-up designs for all the Belcher kids and friends though.
This is such a loaded question. I listen to so many songs, it's so hard to pick 5 out of hundreds I have saved. Ya know what, I'm already going to break the rules by not tagging anybody, so I'll just pick songs that fit my Hey Arnold oc, Debora or the Debmund ship (at least the version that's in my spinoff of CallMeNettie's Hey Arnold fan fic series). It's been a while since I did anything with her and I want to remedy that. It's going to alienate my new Bob's Burgers followers but oh well. Suffice - Mxmtoon I've Been Thinking - Lily Williams Dream Away - Paul Williams You're the One I Want - JJ Heller I Wasn't Made to Be in Love - Sophia James
Debora is an anxious, sad character so yeah, a lot of songs to reflect that. The story does have happy moments and a happy ending though. XD
I won't link the fic though because it's been a while since I updated that story and it wouldn't be fair to share a story that has been on a very long hiatus. Anyway, hope you like the songs regardless. I tag no one because I feel like it but feel free to whoever wants to share songs as well.
(making a new post for this tag game bc the post was already super long, hope that's okay lol)
when you see this, post 5 songs you actually listen to and tag 10 of your favorite followers/mutuals!! i was tagged by @kazs-scheming-face; thanks for tagging me! :)
Aurora Borealis - Lemon Demon
Out of My League - Fitz and the Tantrums
Killer Queen - Queen
Na Na Na - My Chemical Romance
The Steeple - Halestorm

I love the parallels here! Like Teddy, I could also see Tina nearly self-sabotaging a perfectly good relationship with Zeke because she has been so used to being in unhealthy relationships, like with Jimmy Jr for example. She's not used to being in a healthy, stable relationship without fear of future drama that she would begin to overthink ways she could screw it up with Zeke.
Though, as long as Tina doesn't cower away from talking about her fears with Zeke, I believe Zeke is able to work it out with her. She learns that love, like cooking, doesn't need to have it always on full-blast heat. Sometimes you need to have it on low heat for it to be done right. Sure, it may be boring sometimes having to wait for it, but in the end, the results turn out more beautiful than they would have if you tried to always cook at a passionately high temperature. Zeke would definitely be full of surprises, but he won't always be the most romantic or artistic as Tina would hope for. However, what Zeke would provide is worth more than any romantic gesture, the security to be fully herself without the fear of abandonment. So she realizes she loves the slow-cook romance she has with Zeke over the highly intense heat she hoped for in her fantasies. Zeke won't always be as romantic as Tina would hope for but he will always be her port in a storm and she'll realize that is something she wants more than a passionate, drama-filled romance. Also, I can see Tina calling Zeke and saying, "Hi Zeke, it's Tina from dating." That was my highlight quote from that episode XD
The love triangle situation between Teddy, Helen and Kathleen is weirdly similar to… Tina, Jimmy Jr and Zeke?!
-Both believe in things like fate and cosmic forces -Have a tendency to daydream, concocting wild and at times bizarre fantasies about those they fancy -Have personality traits that can be A Little Much for some people -Forget about personal boundaries when worked up -Are socially awkward and bad at reading the room -Cling to things they treasure -Wear blue -Have names that start with T See, look at that mountain of intersecting attributes!!
Like Jimmy Jr, Helen is tall, blonde, conventionally attractive, and comfortable financially. She is nice to Teddy in varying degrees, sometimes sweet and playful, sometimes awful. The deciding factor in her niceness seems to be how useful Teddy can be to her in the moment, much like JJr only approaching Tina when it suits him especially well. Teddy is endlessly smitten with the beautiful but two-faced Helen, much as Tina is with JJR’s perfect bottom.
Kathleen on the other hand is a bit more on the average side with her stout figure and brown hair. Sound familiar? She also has an accent, is a bit sloppy, less than wealthy, knows her way around a joke, enjoys a bit of sports… Although she’s far more subdued, the similarities to Zeke are definitely there! And like Zeke, she’s also quite a nice person person overall - tentatively offering to share her food with the Belcher kids and showing concern for Teddy’s well being despite not knowing him very well.
Ever the romantic (like Teddy!!) Tina picks up on their chemistry right away, and insists that Teddy doesn’t need a rich beautiful princess, but just a nice lady that fits him right. Now if only she could apply that to herself…
Along with the mirrored triangles themselves, there are some other fun things to note regarding the general episodes in which developments are made.
For instance, Season 5 is when we first meet Helen. Season 5 also contains some interesting episodes for Tina and Zeke’s dynamic, such as Midday Run and The Oeder Games. Then in Season 9 we meet Kathleen, and get great episodes such as UFO No You Didn’t and Yes Without My Zeke. While it’s less substantial, I just find it interesting that the episodes containing key moments in Teddy’s love life were released alongside episodes involving Tina’s love life. Come Season 10 Helen is out of the picture, and Teddy is revealed to be seeing Kathleen more frequently in All That Gene. And now in Season 13, the relationship has progressed to steady dating, where Kathleen is asking Teddy out on long day trips. Pretty intimate! I wish them nothing but happiness.
Now, I don’t think Teddy’s switch from a hopeless crush on Helen to a happy, healthy relationship with Kathleen is intended to be a hint towards Tina’s future… but if the writers were hinting at something then I would have nothing but respect for them!!
Just a she/her that loves animation, creating characters, and shipping a lot. Commissions are closed, sorry.
