christmas day (and a christmas carol)

Merry Christmas to all who celebrate!! last night (or rather early this morning) I had a cute small interaction with the first blog I ever followed here on tumblr years ago and was so starstruck I didn't sleep for an hour lol. this is kinda silly but i'd like to think it was the worlds little christmas present to me, cheering me up in these crappy times. since i don't celebrate i'm probably just gonna binge movies as there are lots streaming on tv today and i'd like to get started on some movie reviews that'll be gradually posted in the upcoming weeks so look forward to that! in honour of today, i also plan on finally reading A Christmas Carol in its entirety and also for the sake of revising for literature and being somewhat productive today. as of tomorrow, I plan on revising for my upcoming sociology and french exams in late jan/early feb as well as catching up on literature. although languages and shakespeare don't exactly come easy to me so we'll need motivation for that! - i'll be sure to post about it and keep you updated! while writing this post i also came across the new beta editor and so far its pretty cool! i hope you liked this amalgamation of a studyblr/diarypost?! see you soon! until next time!  ~ Amimi

one of my best friends got her results today!! she's going to the top uni in the country for her course, I'm so happy for her but I'm also really sad she'll be going so far, it also happens to be the same place I'm aspiring to go. I think reality is starting to hit me in terms of where I am and what I should be doing to get there, the work she put in is no joke

movies (for when you want to cry) pt2!

link to pt 1 miracle in cell no 7 (live action, kdrama) - this movie made me cry so much i couldn't bring myself watch it again. the story of a little girl and her father, a man with an intellectual disability, who was falsely imprisoned and sentenced to death. 20th century girl (live action kmovie 2022)

i watched the spoilers and prepared myself for it yet its still so crushing? na bora is a highschool girl collecting information her best friends crush hyunjin (her bestfriend being away for surgery) while doing so, she encounters someone who she falls in love with along the way. hotarubi no mori e (anime 2011) - the shortest film on this list with a runtime of only 45 mins hotaru is a small child when she first meets gin, a spirit who seems not to age like humans do. after her first encounter with him one holiday while staying over at a relatives. the book thief (war/drama, 2013) Liesel is a young girl, living with her foster parents during the war. She steals books from the mayors house and bonds with a boy named Rudy. i hope you all liked this post! until next time! Amimi

movies (for when you want to cry)

believe it or not, my blog was supposed to be all about movies and film (thus the name filminah, innovative i know) i don't know if i enjoy torturing myself or what but here are some movies that made me cry. when marnie was there (anime 2014) - follows teen anna sasaki through a journey of self exploration that takes place due to a mysterious girl she meets named marnie. now, this is definitely not the best ghibli film ever, a little awkward at times especially in the dub but yonebayashi hiromasa does not know how to make a bad movie. the twist was kinda expected but it's ghibli and it's so damn charming you can't help but get attached to anna and marnie and feel everything the way they do. i want to eat your pancreas (anime 2018) - the title is weird, i know. an introverted boy, haruki finds out the secret of his very popular, bubbly polar-opposite-of-him classmate named sakura. she is affected with a severe pancreatic disease. the way they build the connection between the main two characters is so so good to watch, fulfilling what you know will happen in the most unexpected way and showing the aftermath of the movies major events. a silent voice (anime 2016)- this was the first movie i ever found sad enough to make me cry actual tears. ishida shoyo bullied a nishimiya shouko in middle school. shouko is deaf. now a highschooler, after being unable to commit s**c*d* he finds himself becoming friends with shouko, helping her get better and maybe himself along the way. imo this film is one of the best representations of a lead with struggling mental health and they show that incredibly well in both visuals and dialogue, kyoto animation always impresses with their work and the sound work is impeccably done with the way they establish an atmosphere or put you in a characters shoes, embodying them. link to pt 2 (to be added)

hello! i normally try to keep up with a monthly or weekly schedule but for this week and next week i'll have a lot on my plate with school work! maybe i'll do a new years post but this time it's not going to be my usual post on the 31st at 11:59 so i wouldn't keep up my hopes up. i really want to get back on track before the 3rd of january. i'll see you all soon! until next time! i’ve been away from tumblr alot due to a mix of problems and exams, this blog has been really inactive and it sucks. gosh and bonfire night is supposed to be the best but here i am - lets hope things get better by the third of december so i don’t need to wish i were heather

update: kinda late but oh well, exam was alr but not as good as i wanted - at first i was really distraught but then i reminded myself of those supposed literature nerds who write Scrooge/Marley fanfics on ao3 and how failing literature meant i was definitely not one of them :D

English teachers, You either did something incredibly right or incredibly wrong when teaching A Christmas Carol in GCSE English because there is 34 works under the tag Jacob Marley/Ebenezer Scrooge on ao3. A few of them are tagged with references to GCSEs.
