do you ever think of something when you’re trying to sleep and tell yourself “I can write it down in the morning”?
I have, and every time I do im just lying to myself again
I’m not crying, there’s onions
I am crying
no, i just hate writing sometimes
This post is a joke
I can finally listen to my peers say “Merry Christmas” without feeling the urge to correct them, watch Christmas ads and listen to Christmas music without saying, “it’s still November, not yet.”
Tis(n’t) the season
happy Thursday the 20th
Being from Massachusetts is the only reason I know how to pronounce Worcestershire sauce. Worcester, MA has conditioned me to have “woostah” or “wooster” (I don’t have a heavy accent) as a possible pronunciation of that combo of letters
I don’t care if it’s originally British or not, Massachusetts taught me well
It also makes it a lot harder to spell from memory. Took me five tries in this post
Intro!
Hi! I’m not revealing my actual name on here, but y’all can call me Azre! I use they/them pronouns mainly, but am fine with anything that isn’t she/her.
I enjoy theatre, acting, drawing (mostly digital), Dungeons & Dragons, writing, singing (somewhat), and language learning.
My first language is English, but I do speak some Spanish and am learning French. (If anyone wants to talk in either of those but can still talk in English I’d enjoy that!)
If anyone asks me what I’m writing, I will say nothing. But in a conversation that I can use to talk about my writing, I will take that opportunity.
"If I were orpheus I wouldn't look back"
But we look back everyday- rechecking emails, making sure a friend is still behind you, checking to see if you remebered to pick up your keys. It's second nature, a habit of care.
It was second nature for him too. He looked back, not out of weakness, but love. For what is love, if not to look back?
Person I’m talking about my writing to: That’s so cool! Can I see it?
Me: the thing is…. It’s spread over ten documents that I haven’t touched in like, six months and I’ve been super focused on making the magic system work so some characters aren’t complete gods because of lucky family lineage.
Person: …
Me: And I haven’t actually started writing the plot.
Something I love about writing fantasy that includes multiple nations/kingdoms/cultures is the small character interactions between people from different places
An example from my own work is the way two people from different kingdoms drink tea. One puts the leaves in the cup and pours the hot water over it, and the other steeps the leaves in the pot. The one who has the leaves in the cup always explained it as “if someone doesn’t want tea, they can have hot water instead.” And the other kind of just, watches thinking, “this is odd, but it’s genius”
So yeah, cultural differences lead to fun character interactions
(I deal with this irl through teaching my white friends how to eat Asian food)
to any readers or writers who see this, reblog with the weirdest line you’ve ever written or read (fanfic counts!). I’ll start: “‘Well, fuck me gently with a chainsaw’”
