I find “why you two wouldn’t work out” and “their toxic traits” headcannons/ scenarios hilarious cuz they basically all boil down to “lack of both communication and compromise” but we still spend a solid paragraph reading why the breakup is entirely party b’s fault (bonus points for when party b communicates or at least makes an issue extremely obvious and y/n just expects to change or get fixed)
If this was an exploration of how y/n could be at fault for the breakup, I wouldn’t have a problem with this, but I have yet to see a scenario where it is acknowledged that y/n is in the wrong.
If you wish to be with someone who is open and honest with their feelings\past all the time, don’t go after someone like Kaeya, Diluc, or Xiao. People don’t owe you their secrets. They don’t owe you vulnerablity. If it’s something you absolutely require in a relationship, Zhongli, Childe, and Albedo are all right there and have shown they are willing to give you that.
You wish to date someone who works a lot and tells you that they will be busy a lot of the time? Why the fuck are you so surprised that they are busy most of the time? Communicate, set up a schedule, or go date someone else
Oh? Albedo is on a three week expedition to dragon spine? Almost like that’s a regular part of his job… Like a scheduled event… like something he can’t just drop on a whim… like something you already should have known about and accepted if you wanted to date him
Beidou regularly leaves on voyages and is gone for a year or two? She has always done this, why are you surprised? Go on the voyage with her or just don't date her.
You can't find time any time to spend with Ganyu? Why the fuck not? She has a very strict schedule that she always sticks to, just work around that
Mind you, it’s completely fine to just have different needs than your partner and for the relationship not to work out. You can just leave on amicable terms and stay friends
In case there's anyone who hasn't come across them yet, there are some lovely terms that are just a bit more specific than "aspec", but broad enough to encompass a lot of experiences - both aspec microlabels and people who don't fit into the aspec -- allo binary.
Aromid: Strictly aromantic, and somewhere on the ace spectrum (or neither strictly ace nor strictly allosexual)
Acemid: Strictly asexual, and somewhere on the aro spectrum (or neither strictly aro nor strictly alloromantic)
Amid: Not strictly aro or ace, but somewhere on both spectrums (or not strictly aro, ace, allosexual, or alloromantic)
Of course, some people who fit these can call themselves aroace, but they may be useful or comforting for people who feel disconnected from the aroace label, those who have a complicated relationship with allosexuality/alloromanticism, or those who are neither a- nor allo-
something about the way watson is immediately intrigued by holmes's character ("the proper study of man is mankind,") immediately begins studying the man like an anthropologist, has a natural inclination to help people, and continues to write and think about Who Holmes Is in addition to chronicling his actual work makes me think that, if the field had existed, he'd have been a psychologist.
something about being a doctor and then transitioning into the exact type of writer he becomes, his concern for holmes, his preoccupation with the unknown/darker aspects of human nature/taboo subjects not often addressed, his innate compassion... lad was writing letters to Freud fr (don't do it watson)
I was thinking about this at work the other day and like. what if the reason Hastings is so in-the-moment to the exclusion of all other moments stems from his service during the War?
Don't think about the past. Go too far and you're confronted with the horrors of the trenches. Shells screaming overhead, no way of knowing where they'll land. The sound of explosions ringing so loud in your ears that you don't know if you'll ever hear anything else again. Great, metal beasts crushing everything in their path. Boys torn apart before they had the chance to come of age.
Go back even further and you have to face the man you once were. The man you can never be again. The man you could have been but can never become after living through what you did.
And as for the future, it simply doesn't exist on the battlefield. It's become a vague, nebulous, abstract concept that may or may not come to pass, so why give it too much thought? The here and now is all that matters. It's the only thing you're guaranteed.
Ahri (League of Legends)
James T. Kirk (TOS)
Natasha Romanoff (Marvel)
A-spec character headcanons that—while I have evidence for—allo people would never believe, so I've stopped providing evidence:
The Doctor [All of them] (Doctor Who)
Tatiana (Spies are Forever)
Donna Noble (Doctor Who)
Aziraphale and Crowley (Good Omens)
Buffy Summers (Buffy the Vampire Slayer)
William Riker (Star Trek: TNG)
Please reblog this with your aspec headcanons you refuse to provide evidence for, they just are.
reblog and put in the tags where you're from (if comfortable sharing) and what you call the thing with push on wheels to carry your things in the grocery store (because i've heard people call it so many different things)
The moment when you feel the ability to speak or make facial expressions leaving you. It's a physical sensation and all I can think is "Ah, there it is."
It's the physical equivalent of watching a balloon float away.
I propose: A raccoon!
Anyone who says Sherlock Holmes would be a cat is wrong. He is not. That man is the most dog-coded anyone can get. Watson literally describes him as a golden retriever in The Adventure of the Dancing Men. If anything, Watson is the cat of the duo.
Edit: me when I’m called out by sherlock is a cat blogs 💀. he does have cat traits lol but the amount of times I’m reading acd and I’m reminded of dogs I know-
Well, this is very funny because I'm pretty sure I'm ace and therefore of course support ace people AND actually have very pointy canine teeth
wait everyone rb this and put in the tags who you started reading fanfiction for, and it doesn’t have to be anime
Re-reading Sherlock Holmes and it strikes me all over again that the main draw of this man is not his intelligence but his kindness and courteousness towards his distressed clients, most especially women. I was like ten when I read my Dad's copy of Adventures and so fascinated and attached to him immediately. It could never be replicated by modern interpretations, especially Moffat's Sherlock. *soul deep shudder* I hated the series from the get-go and couldn't figure out why until I saw that Tumblr post that pointed it out.
Also? Irene Adler's sexualisation is obviously gross and so much less progressive and agentive than the version this Victorian man wrote, but I'm also repulsed by the sexualisation of Sherlock Holmes. The man hasn't had a boner in his life. It's canon that he's never had any interest in women and his only close relationship with a man was Watson, and all power to slash fans, but there's absolutely nothing in canon that hints at anything but a friendship of, get this, mutual respect and admiration. This is the most aroace character in the English canon is what I'm saying, and the most generous interpretation of his relationship with Watson is a queerplatonic connection.
TL;DR: Perpetually flabbergasted how we got from a very gentlemanly, deeply compassionate, grown-ass adult who never talks down to Watson nor burdens anyone, to this entitled misogynistic manbaby with the social skills of a hornet.
