everyone who knows dick personally knows he is very smart, analytical, and geeky

however the news outlets have been spouting off ‘richie wayne’ ever since dick was taken in as bruce’s ward, and tend to write him as the ‘dumb hot’ stereotype

one night talk show gets dick onto it, under the premise that the money from that show would be going to charity, they put him up against random college students about topics they are majoring in

everyone expects dick to flirt or joke his way through the questions, so when he starts buzzing in first and answering correctly, they eventually question him

and with a shrug he says, “grew up traveling around the world, was vice president to the mathletes club that took nationals in high school at 14, and was actually in training to take up either a head aspect or a tech aspect of wayne enterprises; had to do classes and work for that, my best friend and i played video games and coded our own, also social media is easy to keep up with with my siblings and such” he finishes with a dismissive wave and smile, quickly running through the subjects that he was quizzed on

it quickly goes viral, and dick left that studio with a lighter chest and a bright smile

alfred always caring about bruce and being a father figure to him, but always being carefully distant because he's the family butler and he feels he has to maintain a professional relationship

bruce caring about his kids fiercely but always being distant, never really showing his affection or being a typical 'father'

dick pushing his friends away due to the compulsion to be professional in the field and often out of it, despite the fact he really does love them like family

they make me so ill...

reading dc comics has turned me into a hater in ways that no other comics made me a hater.

and to clarify, i do not hate the characters. they are good, Nice even. they are very Complex.

on the other hand, the storyline of some of these comic runs has made me feel like i have lost braincells and when i shoved it back to my head, it was no longer a cell made for brains.

When you and your friend are both autistic and obsessed with similar BS, you spend two hours creating a floor plan for a fictional character in your fanfic. It is cursed and I hate it deeply with much love.

ExCUSE me, Dick thinking that maybe he should have brought Damian with him instead of staying with, but didn't because he didn't think he was ready to be a dad, like he was probably younger than Bruce was when he took Dick in and even they had such a rough ride, could he put Damian through that? or worse? when Damian had already been through so much in his young life? like sure Dick had lost his parents but he hadn't been trained to be an assassin all his life? but still Dick THOUGHT ABOUT IT and I am going to go throw up from feelings about how much Dick loves that kid.

man, zdarsky would really write a great series for tim if he could, right? *sigh*

what if what if: Jason breaks into Titans Tower (I think that where it happened?) to find Tim.

we need to make it so clear to future generations that we no longer tolerate a world where you cannot conveniently go for a walk or get a coffee or get groceries without a car

im tired of damian looking exactly like bruce. give me damian who looks like talia.

damian who bruce looks at and can't see any of himself in. damian who instead reminds bruce of talia with every smile and glare. damian who grows his hair when he's older as he's growing into his mother's face. and bruce suddenly has to be enforcing gotham/bat morals and rules on someone who looks far more like an al ghul than a wayne. damian who never gets as tall as his father or brothers and who doesn't build muscle the same way leaving him to fight like his mother and cass. like an assassin. damian who can't be batman the way he's always dreamed of because he will never be a looming vengeful presence capable of physical intimidation. and that's ok. because he can be worse. he's a batman that matches black bat. silent and terrifying and no one knows he's there until the fight is over. he fights quickly and efficiently with a combination of techniques that pull from black bat, huntress, batgirl, catwoman, and even nightwing (who is a gymnast/aerialist first and foremost) at their most terrifying. and on top of that everyone knows he used to be sword robin.

he doesn't need to look anything like bruce to be a terror inducing batman. and he doesn't need to look anything like bruce to cause bruce emotional turmoil.

I feel like every time I draw my art style changes just a smidge but anyways!!! Thank y’all so much for all the love, have some Cass and Duke cause they are very underrated!

Sorry this is actually one of the most important Tim Drake moments to me!!! All he wants is to make Bruce proud!! He’s 17 and he just wants his dads approval at the end of the day!! He did his best and he deserves parental affection!!!

OK ITS BEEN LIKE FIVE MINUTES BUT. The guilt Bruce would feel and then ignore? Yeah, the never telling Tim he's proud of him? The lack of any communication because he couldn't keep a kid from taking up the mantle of a haunting mistake, and now is torn between constant mourning and the pride of his newest soldier learning? GODS. Ok I'm done.

What if Jason attacked Tim, not because he was jealous, not to send a message to Bruce, not because he felt like he was being replaced, but because he was horrified to see another kid in the suit? What if it was a warning, letting him know that this? This pain, this threat to his very being, this risk of death? That was all that was out there for him in this life, so go back to your cushy life and leave it alone before you get killed. (The "like I did" is left unsaid)

What if the reason Bruce pushed so hard against Tim at first was for the same reason? The fear of repeating his biggest mistake, the horror he felt as a child actively asked to be put in the suit because nothing but tragedy came to the boys before him.

I dunno, just feels a little fucked up and awful to me.

one thing I do not see used enough is that

Dick does not want to be like Bruce.

not just in the fact that he wants to be his own man. in the fact that he is actively afraid of becoming like him.

canonically one of his biggest fears is becoming Bruce.

this is such a ripe thing for angst, are you kidding me? I cannot believe people don’t use it more.

especially during his Batman era. he didn’t want the cowl, he actively said no to taking up the mantle at first, but then he felt like he had to.

and then to be good at it? to be good at being Batman? honestly that must’ve made him feel sick.

I need to see Dick be actively hostile about it too. if Jason, for example, in your fic is comparing Dick to Bruce I need to see Dick lash out about it.

because that's what he does when people compare the two! when Dick and Roy were purposely trying to piss the other off, Roy compared Dick to Bruce and Dick lost it.

My favorite dynamic is "will bite" and "has a bite sleeve"
