everything I’d read about Aberdeen made me think it was just like the suburban hellhole I call my hometown, and visiting only confirmed that. the strange thing is that Aberdeen isn’t ugly. it’s not a terrible place, it’s not a dump, it’s not this awful place full of evil people, it’s just not a good place to be if you’re different. my hometown is the same way. my father says that everyone hates the place they come from, no matter where that is, but these small towns in middle-of-nowhere America are a special kind of hell for kids like Kurt Cobain, Krist Novoselic, Buzz Osbourne, Dale Crover, and me. some weird kids hangout under bridges next to salt water rivers and others in old abandoned barns, but all of us dream of getting out.
