Ace wakes up on a random island two years after his death as a ten-year-old. But he has no memory of his adult life. Sabo just died, and he has a little brother to look after. Or maybe an older brother?
There is a bit of time between Ace waking up and Luffy finding him.
Sorry this is so long I'm still trying to figure out how to do comic-y things.
1) The complexity of this character. Never have I felt so conflicted over a villain since even though you know he’s a bad man, you just feel sorry for him.
2) The movie did the “romance redeemed the villain” trope, but effectively.
3) His fall from grace was well-done. You just feel he’s making the wrong choices, such as putting the ten rings back on again, breaking his promise to leave the warlord life. At the same time, you completely understand why he’s making these choices.
4) Everything about this character was so human. Tony Leung really brought in a certain sadness with Wenwu, that you could feel his anguish and grief even as he commits acts of violence. Since Tony’s made a career out of playing complicated men dealing with loneliness, this comes as no surprise.
5) The final showdown between Wenwu and Shang-Chi was enough to put this movie in my top 5. The way that Simu Liu and Tony Leung kept switching from rage to despair, from wanting to kill each other to hoping the other will stand down because there’s still love there…that’s what really made this movie work. They really nailed the dynamic of a father and son reluctantly battling each other, both wanting to win but not wanting to seriously hurt the other.
I’m sorry Killmonger…you’re still amazing, but I gotta give the Best MCU Villain crown to Wenwu/The Mandarin.
Im having anger. Why is everyone like "ah, jason, the angry, volatile robin! Dick, the sweet golden child!" Like, no? Dick was probably the angriest robin? That was his whole deal? Revenge? And then, there on the other hand, Jason was a sweetheart. A book nerd who got perfect grades. Everyone who met Dick was afraid of him, of what he could do, of what he was. Everyone who met Jason loved him. He said Robin gave him magic.
Oh, and then Damian and Tim. "Damian is the scariest robin," absolutely not. You know who would terrify me? Tim Drake. I would do everything in my power not to anger him. The kid went toe to toe with Ra's al Ghul and won. He figured out who Batman was before he reached double digits. He's, like, the only one who's never died. That's a feat in and of itself. He has no weaknesses I could exploit. He has no regard for his own life. And he is not "sweet." Damian's is. Damian's the kind of person who rescues stray kittens. He's super protective. He has the biggest heart. His best friend is a kid who is 3 years younger than him. Tim is a bully and I love him for it but damn. Calm down. He's the kind of person who gets what they want, no matter what they have to do to get it. He will love you and you will hate him for it, cuz he'll be a bitch about it. Damian will curl up on your lap and draw you a picture. Tim will cut your arm off if you touch his stuff.
i am so SO S A D
Bruce: now being a Bat requires stealth, silence, patience- Damian: NANANANANANANA I’M ROBIN BITCHES
Batman: Black and White vol 2 #5
I know like everyone is taking about the casting of Annabeth as black, which I'm more than ok with. but ever since she was cast, I know we've all seen the blatant racism, but I've also noticed art of white Annabeth (still a valid interpretation) or white cosplayers are getting flooded with comments along the lines of
"this is EXACTLY how I pictured Annabeth"
"this is MY Annabeth"
"the true Annabeth"
we all know what you are trying to communicate even if you aren't saying it directly. stop it.
and for everyone who is saying "I'd be just as upset is they casted a POC character as white!" I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and say you would.
but those characters race is important.
for representation.
for their background
it's important that Leo is Mexican because his grandfather went to a school for colored children, where he met Hazel.
it's important that Hazel is black because of the culture shock she gets when she comes to the 2000s in terms of racism.
it's important that Frank is Chinese because it is how he is decended from Neptune.
it's important that Piper is Cherokee because she carries all the lessons and parables she got from her uncle with her throughout her story.
it's not important that Annabeth is white because the only thing important about her appearance is that people underestimate her because of it. you know a demographic that is often disrespected and underestimated for their appearance? black people, especially black women.
Leah Jeffries is not a "diversity hire" and it absolutely disgusting behavior to say she is. she is a twelve year old girl who already has an acting career and worked hard to get where she is.
Leah, i can not wait to see what you'll do with Annabeth.
As a manager your job is to ensure of your idols safety, not consistently treat them like shit and be rude to them and risk their health as well.
Today after a music stage, Renjun was left alone in a parking lot, in the rain without an umbrella, trying to find a car so he can return to the dorms without his members. That happened because their manager took the last spot in the car and left him ALONE to deal with something he shouldn't deal with. Not only that, but that is the same manager who told Renjun to switch places with Chenle in a recent vlive and told him to shut up, rudely, when he talked about Winwin and his vacation. On top of that, the same manager was accused by a jeno fansite of not being able to control her 'loving hands' when it came to jeno which!! is!! very!! concerning!! because jeno is still only a teenager and that behaviour is actual sexual harassment.
DONT EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE WAY SM IS TREATING THE CHINA LINE, especially Winwin all those years, taking away opportunities from him and basically pretending he doesn't exist all those years he was in 127.
That's why, us NCTzens, ask you to please unsubscribe from SM's channel on youtube, in hopes that something will come out of our actions.
