So...I might have thought up one of the most badass All Might headcanons.

Picture it, guesstimately 28-29 years ago, an incident occurs. One of great devastations on a busy road.Fire, upturned concrete, and bodies were everywhere. People, screaming and crying for help. Whether it was a villain that caused this or a horrific traffic accident that may have involved a tanker truck or two is up to you.

Personally, I chose the latter.

Anyways, in this chaos of flames and smoke, the surviving victims and rescue responders fail to notice a jet coming in from the east side. It was coming, and coming fast. While still in flight, the side cargo hatch opens up so that a large blonde man (dressed in red, white, blue, and yellow) can leap out and plummet to the fiery earth below with a huge grin on his, ready to save those people.

I bet there is an interview somewhere that has All Might say something along the lines of:

"Who would've thought that my first day back in Japan would also be my debut?"

Ahaha, that would be classic All Might behavior 😂 I’ve always wondered how that first rescue went, I wish we got to see it more in detail. Like where did this huge American looking guy come from??? And why is he laughing??????

Some Conductor!Toshinori Warmup Sketches From My Musician AU.

In this AU, the shadows on All Might's face are from the harsh stage lights he uses during his performances. All Might is considered one of the greatest composers in Japan (if not in the world), but after medical issues caused an inability to play/conduct, he started performing less and less, at shorter and shorter concerts. His final performance was a song he composed called "Final Act," which he performed in response to the piece "Death Of A Symbol" composed by All For One.

All Might was literally suicidal and people dont talk about it enough.

How it must've felt to have to pass on the one source of his strength, for years that has kept him at the top, his sole source of not only livelihood but also his way of helping others? How he must've felt knowing that he could not be the pillar of peace as he had been for almost four decades, that he had to subject another young person to carry that weight. How he must've felt after Kamino, after losing that power for good, after the entire nation saw him at his weakest.

His talk with Aizawa about deciding to live for the next generation, absolutely broke my heart. He felt useless, in a way probably none of us could ever even grasp. Not even izuku could.

What does it mean to be the entire world's pillar in one moment, the strongest man alive, only to go powerless in the next? It's no wonder Toshinori considered ending his life after Kamino- He didn't even look the same. What other option would you have but to end it all there? When you go from the man everyone looks to for help, to a man who can't even take a punch and survive?

But the fact he chose to live speaks volumes of his strength. His willingness to carry on, and help his students and successor fight with whatever strength remained. He helped Izuku during his tenture as a vigilante, because All Might would've done the exact same thing. He packed those lunches. He chased after Izuku, trying to give him the same support he knew All Might would've needed if he was the same age as Izuku.

It's why he put on that suit and fought All For One, even if it meant stalling and not defeating.

Because All Might is beyond his quirk, the same way Izuku is. He has the heart of a true hero.

The reason Izuku probably managed to survive those eight years without an ability to fight alongside his class- was because All Might was likely there beside him, both of them sharing the loss of their power after being at the front of the field. And they both know the importance of sharing their strength, their true strength, with future generations.

It was the strength of their hearts that put All Might and Deku above the rest.

"His Final Act... As The Symbol Of Peace..."
"His Final Act... As The Symbol Of Peace..."

"His final act... as the Symbol Of Peace..."

Once Toshinori's condition progressed, he performed fewer and fewer concerts until his performances were few and far between. Taking this as an opportunity to sully his rival's name, All For One performed the piece "Death of a Symbol" and spoke publicly about it being the end of All Might's musical career. While Toshinori initially remained silent, he took to the stage again when All For One made comments about Toshinori's ability to teach and the skill of his students, at which point he performed his piece "Final Act." This song consisted of the largest orchestra All Might had ever conducted, and was one of his longest pieces. This performance was also the first time All Might was on stage since his body began majorly deteriorating. Conducting the entire piece pushed him past the time he could normally handle, and the performance marked the beginning of All Might's retirement.

Actually this new art motivated me to do a post I've been wanting to do for a while, but I wanted to point out how the anime and Hori each give AFO a different body type.

-

For example this scene, compare the difference

The helmet doesn't cover his shoulders which are broad and you can see how he's a large man

Actually This New Art Motivated Me To Do A Post I've Been Wanting To Do For A While, But I Wanted To

While here the helmet covers almost to the end of his shoulders

Actually This New Art Motivated Me To Do A Post I've Been Wanting To Do For A While, But I Wanted To

Here's him without the suit where you can see him better, he looks pretty small

Actually This New Art Motivated Me To Do A Post I've Been Wanting To Do For A While, But I Wanted To

While here in Hori's art he's much bigger

Actually This New Art Motivated Me To Do A Post I've Been Wanting To Do For A While, But I Wanted To

Unfortunately since the games and other non Hori drawn media tend to follow in the animes footsteps we get stuff like this where AFO looks tiny compared to his giant helmet 😭

Actually This New Art Motivated Me To Do A Post I've Been Wanting To Do For A While, But I Wanted To

-

Personally I like the more broad shouldered big boy AFO personally. Makes him super intimidating up close with his sheer size.

"You'll Have To Be Faster Than That, Kid."

"You'll have to be faster than that, kid."

I know the only scenes we see of Gran Torino training All Might are just Torino kicking the crap out of Toshi, making him scared shitless of Torino as an adult, but I really like to think that they goofed off a little too before Nana's death. This hc created the idea of one of Torino's training activities being a really intense game of tag around the city.

close ups below the cut :)

Playing off the current trend of Ba Sing Se residents being absolutely mindblown that Lee the nice-if-grumpy young man from the tea shop is now Fire Lord, I present another headcanon:

They don’t think that Lee was secretly Prince Zuko this whole time.  They genuinely believe that the Fire Nation straight up made a Worthy Tea Shop Waiter the next Fire Lord.  After all, they’ve had such poor luck with their last three Fire Lords, it might be better to pull their next Fire Lord from the common ranks instead, someone who has absolutely no ties to the Fire Nation, and really, who better than someone who has literally served the people before?

“No, no,” an exasperated Zuko tries to explain to well-wishers that he knew from when he lived in the Lower Ring.  “I really was Prince Zuko back then.  I was just in hiding from my family.”

Sure, they say, humoring him, but they all know that it’s just a line he has to say because that’s how the Fire Nation is justifying their choice and legitimizing his rule, that he really was the long-lost exiled Prince of the Fire Nation.  Could you imagine, though?  A prince?  Working in customer service?  In the food industry?  A spoiled little silver-spoon brat like that wouldn’t have lasted even a day as a tea shop waiter, let alone handle all those Kah-Rens with such aplomb as their Lee did.

Zuko eventually gives up, and whenever he visits the Jasmine Dragon and dons the waiter’s apron henceforth, he just lets the patrons welcome him “home.”

I'm a big fan of wizards-as-programmers, but I think it's so much better when you lean into programming tropes.

A spell the wizard uses to light the group's campfire has an error somewhere in its depths, and sometimes it doesn't work at all. The wizard spends a lot of his time trying to track down the exact conditions that cause the failure.

The wizard is attempting to create a new spell that marries two older spells together, but while they were both written within the context of Zephyrus the Starweaver's foundational work, they each used a slightly different version, and untangling the collisions make a short project take months of work.

The wizard has grown too comfortable reusing old spells, and in particular, his teleportation spell keeps finding its components rearranged and remixed, its parts copied into a dozen different places in the spellbook. This is overall not actually a problem per se, but the party's rogue grows a bit concerned when the wizard's "drying spell" seems to just be a special case of teleportation where you teleport five feet to the left and leave the wetness behind.

A wizard is constantly fiddling with his spells, making minor tweaks and changes, getting them easier to cast, with better effects, adding bells and whistles. The "shelter for the night" spell includes a tea kettle that brings itself to a boil at dawn, which the wizard is inordinately pleased with. He reports on efficiency improvements to the indifference of anyone listening.

A different wizard immediately forgets all details of his spells after he's written them. He could not begin to tell you how any of it works, at least not without sitting down for a few hours or days to figure out how he set things up. The point is that it works, and once it does, the wizard can safely stop thinking about it.

Wizards enjoy each other's company, but you must be circumspect about spellwork. Having another wizard look through your spellbook makes you aware of every minor flaw, and you might not be able to answer questions about why a spell was written in a certain way, if you remember at all.

Wizards all have their own preferences as far as which scripts they write in, the formatting of their spellbook, its dimensions and material quality, and of course which famous wizards they've taken the most foundational knowledge from. The enlightened view is that all approaches have their strengths and weaknesses, but this has never stopped anyone from getting into a protracted argument.

Sometimes a wizard will sit down with an ancient tome attempting to find answers to a complicated problem, and finally find someone from across time who was trying to do the same thing, only for the final note to be "nevermind, fixed it".
