Hello! I'm hoping you guys could share your favorite Bashir/Garak fics with me, any kind honestly :D

(Fic doesn't have to be centered around them)

Wei Ying didn't 'break' Jiang Yanli's engagement to Jin Zixuan. Their fathers did, and no, it wasn't because Wei Ying started a fight with Jin Zixuan. It was because he brought to the surface the truth, which was the clear contempt Jin Zixuan had at the idea of being trapped in a marriage with Yanli. Jiang Fengmian broke it because he realized that Wei Ying was right. He couldn't let his daughter marry someone who obviously didn't want her and more importantly might fail to protect her the way a husband should especially since as a woman in ancient china, the person 'responsible' for her would be her husband and her husbands family. He knows what it's like to have constant internal conflict with your partner, and he didn't want Yanli to face that with her own.

Not to mention, it was only through the break of the engagement, and Yanli ceasing her acts of affection during the sunshot campaign did Jin Zixuan finally take notice of her.

The only person person who blamed Wei Ying was Madam Yu Ziyuan because of her prominent and unfair hatred towards Wei Ying. Just like the way she blamed him for the Wens attacking the Jiangs when no, the blame of that attack lies solely on the Wens. Blaming a kids actions as being the cause of inciting conflict is Dictatorship 101. It didn't matter what the Jiangs did. The Wens would have attacked them regardless, especially since Madam Yu refused to lower herself the way the Wens wanted her to. The way Wang Lingjiao was trying to. Blaming Wei Ying for the Jiang Massacre would be like blaming the destruction of Gusu by the Wens on Lan Zhan for trying to protect the library. The only ones to be blamed for all the destruction are the Wens. No one else.

I have some recs! It's not exactly what you want (if you're looking for more cultivation based novels) unfortunately... but they're bahie and very beautifully written ones 2, they focus much more on politics and war so note: they will discuss heavy topics(so make sure to check any warnings labelled on the book):

All written by pdl (please don't laugh):

1)Jwqs:

It's abt a Cross dressing princess, who after her kingdom was completely destroyed during war by the enemy, seeks to get her revenge Unfortunately, her plans are foiled as the king marries her off to his favored princess and finds herself reluctantly falling in love(this changes nothing)

Very angsty and beautifully written.

It has a somewhat bitter sweet ending, it's not a BAD ending though.

2)Ruzhui:

The story of a women who is apart of a time travelling project finds herself accidentally stuck in a completely different dimension, After some accidental meddling she gets married to a rich merchant and is now stuck between deciding on leaving the women she loves or the world she knows and misses.

Unlike the former this is actually a comedy, it does dicuss heavy topics (alot). But I'm half-way into reading it, it's very good.

Also cultivation is a thing in this story but its not a common thing, so far their is only one known cultivator in the story (so don't expect anything magical to happen)

3)Female general and eldest princess:

I haven't really read this novel yet, despite it arguably being pdls most popular novel so my info on the actual book is quite lacking but here we go (I got the summary from Google lol)

The story of a crossdressing General and a strategic all-knowing Eldest Princess enfolds; with betrayal, violence, thrilling romance, and acceptance

This might be an incredibly specific ask, and I may be asking in the wrong places, however..

Are there any good wlw novels set in fantasy/history, with the same writing style and vibe as danmei novels such as TGCF, MDZS, Ballad of Sword and Wine etc?

Any fictional setting will do, I'm just putting feelers out there since it's been a long time since I've found a book series I've truly fallen in love with :(

what the whole "please comment on fic you like, it will encourage more writing" vs. "fic writers shouldn't be writing for engagement and validation" debate fails to really grasp, for me, is that comments shouldn't be boiled down to "engagement and validation" in the first place. by which i mean: comments aren't payment for a service, they are communication and connection. they represent the audience reaching back.

i don't write just for myself. are you kidding me? the point of storytelling, to me, is to present certain narrative arguments and produce or encourage an emotional response to them. That communication is essentially useless if there's no endpoint, no listener. To me, there is no point if I'm not communicating with someone. When I write, I am talking to a reader. If you've read anything I've written, then I was talking TO YOU.

you are well within your right to consume fic as ~content~ and withhold your "payment" out of a sense that the writer should be satisfied at having created anything at all in an unresponsive void. but please be aware that it feels really good when you talk back.
