For some reason people in charge of media hate putting bi people in (for lack of a better word) heterosexual relationships and itās so dumb.
Does anyone else dislike it when people dismiss Tim and Stephanie's relationship. Like on the one hand, I get part of it is a joke, and that people are just being lighthearted. But on the other idk. Part of it feels like they're just erasing Tim's bisexuality, and the fact that he is not solely attracted to men, but I also feel like it complete diminishes just how much Tim and Steph meant to eachother. Thats not even talking about how poorly DC handled their break up.
Part of me wonders if Merrilee avoided the mirror after Maysileeās death? Too afraid to see her sisterās face staring right back at her. Did she avoid the color purple? Too afraid to look any more like her sister than she had to. Did people in town continue to call her Maysilee at times before realizing their mistake? Leaving her with a stark reminder that while sheād always be a twin she was no longer a part of a pair.
Bro imagine if like Dick Grayson and Damian Wayne bond over having evil grandfathers together. Maybe thatās why their so close, but like imagine one of them is like āDid your grandfather ever try to make you his successor to his evil cult of assassinļæ¼sā AND THE OTHER ONE GOES āyou will never believe this but-ā
no but imagine being the Palmetto State track team coach and learning about this kid who can run a mile in four minutes and so you go and check it out but surprise surprise the exy coach from the shit exy team has him already so you try to negotiate for the player because he might be the fastest kid youāve ever seen but the exy coach keeps saying no and no and so you watch this kid that can RUN THE MILE IN FOUR MINUTES become the fastest exy player in history and youāre sobbing falling to your knees because you couldāve had him in the track team winning you gold medals in the olympics but instead you just stare from your campus office as this redhead short exy obsessed kid runs laps around the entire uni campus for hours on end without getting tired and just wishes all hell on exy
Bruce loving and supporting Dick hours
I just- I know a lot of people don't like the Young Justice series because of how it destroys the canon timeline of the comics- BUT-
You guys don't know how much I love this duo, it's like, I don't know, they're brother and sister, they're siblings in everything but blood and I just love them so so much.
I recently saw a comment saying that Dick was the little brother who had the audacity to grow taller, and I loved it.
I think what I loved is that Dick really has the little brother energy like Robin in this show, and although I love Dick as an older brother, seeing him as the little brother of the group was amazing.
I think this is where my taste for reverse robin fics came from, I ended up enchanted with Dick as the little brother- lol
I miss them, so i'm going to watch the whole show again. š¤
I hate the ābad sibling Dick Graysonā tag, like Dick Grayson would never. Especially in Tim centric fics. They have such a close bond in canon, Tim Drake is Dick Graysonās #1 fan and Dick raves about Tim like every other issue in Nightwing (1996)
Woah, thereās no reason to get so heated. I never said heās perfect, he does some bad things but terrible is a stretch. Like yeah, taking Robin away from Tim? He went about that completely wrong, even if he had his reasons. I will say that making mistakes doesnāt mean heās a terrible sibling. And because I love exploring the dynamics between the Bat Family, Iām going to go through some moments where Dick was a good sibling to each of them, or at least some cute moments between them!
Tim
This is probably my favorite Batfam dynamic (with Steph and Damian being a close second) In many ways Tim helped Dick become a big brother. He felt like he failed Jason by not being there and made an effort to be more available to Tim!
Hereās some moments between the two!
When Dick trusted Tim not to use the Lazarus pit?
Or when he and Babs threw Tim a surprise Christmas party so he wouldnāt be alone on Christmas
After Tim quits being Robin, heās nervous that Dick and Bruce wonāt talk to him again. Timās school gets shot up and Bruce is adamant that heās okay but Dick goes to check up on him.
Even when theyāre fighting, theyāre there for each other! This takes place after Dick gives Robin to Damian!
Also! I want to add that in Bruce Wayne murderer, Dick and Tim do argue because Dick is angry that Tim is doubting Bruceās innocence, itās a very emotional time for the two and siblings fight all the time. Hell my sister has snapped at me tons of times and Iāve snapped at her.
Jason
The biggest thing with Dick and Jason, is Dick wasnāt there a lot when Jason was Robin, because he was mostly with the Titans at the time, but when he was there, he did his best. Hereās some moments of Dick being a good brother to Jason!
Dick gives Jason his number as well as his Robin suit (this panel is quite old but DC continuity is really confusing)
Or when Jason is grounded and Dick takes him out on an adventure to help him out
And he even apologizes to Jason because Bruce compared the two
And when Jason is accused of murder, Dick trusts him when he says he didnāt do it
I will say that out of all of Dickās siblings, he probably made the most mistakes with Jason, which kinda makes sense because that was his first time being a big brother figure. But even then, you have this little moment:
Damian
This is a major one! Dick and Damian are probably the sibling relationship that gets the most focus in current comic (which I have my own opinions on, because I hate that they put his relationship with the others on the back burner) But Dick is very essential to Damianās character growth. And yeah they get off to a rocky start, Dick was grieving Bruceās death and all of the sudden heās in charge of a murderous 2nd grader. He wasnāt the most emotionally available, Iād honestly say their relationship is in the middle of parent/child and siblings. Iāve maxed out the amount of photos I can use in a post so Iāll leave you with this!
God I love them so much.
Cass
Donāt worry! I didnāt forget Cass! But they donāt have as many moments compared to the others! Like I said, I ran out of photos, but I can list some!
- If I recall correctly, Dick wasnāt the most welcoming to Cass because! Heās NOT perfect! He makes mistakes and he can be a real Dick (pun intended) but a huge thing is, he acknowledges this, apologizes to her and they agree to put it behind them! This happens in Batman and the outsiders (2007) #14
- This is more a moment of her helping him out, but in Nightwing (1996) #81, Dick gets shot, Cass visits him in the hospital and he enlists her help in defeating Deathstroke. This is an important moment because a big theme in Nightwing 1996 was Dick stretching himself thin and trying to do everything on his own, which caused him to start getting sloppy.
- In Nightwing #106 Dick teaches Cass how to make his world famous pancakes, which is adorable!
(but I mean so does almost every member of the batfamily)
And as for Duke, Iām not sure if they have any moments together?
And I can totally get your frustration that people act like heās perfect and honestly thatās probably why Iām not the biggest fan of Tom Taylorās Nightwing run because he made him almost into a Mary-Sue and I think a flawed Nightwing is the best Nightwing, like I mentioned how in Nightwing 1996, he insists on doing everything alone, which leads to him getting overworked, which leads to him getting shot on duty, which leads to Blockbuster realizing that Nightwing is Dick Grayson which leads to basically his whole life falling apart.
I wonder how many good fanfictions I'm missing out on just because people don't know how to tag š
Lin-Manuel Miranda is not untalented but he shouldn't be making billion dollar disney movies or whatever. This guy should be in a garage making deeply earnest but unpolished rap opera concept albums and posting them online for a niche fanbase of no more than 100,000 too-online theatre nerds. Hiring him to make forgettable paint-by-numbers radio friendly disney princess pop is trying to raise devil's pupfish in captivity. You have to stop giving him money and let him go make cringe in his natural habitat or you're never going to get anything good.
