My headcanons for what each link would become when exposed to the shard of twilight/to the dark world and why.

Skyward sword Link (sky): straight up puppy. He's a very friendly, sociable, and loyal Link. Maybe more like a golden retriever

Minish cap Link (minish): Mouse! Very tiny mouse. I think he's generally pretty shy, cautious, so a small rodent would make a lot of sense.

Ocarina of Time/Majora's mask (time): Canon wolf.

ALTTP, Oracles, & Link's awakening (legend): Canon bunny

LoZ I and II (Hyrule): I don't really know em that much but I think dog, maybe even Retriever, like Sky. Mostly based off LU.

Twilight princess (twilight): canon wolf

Four swords adventures: Rats! Since they're very social, could split into a rat pack. Rats can have a very wide range of personalities, like most other pets, but I think they fit Shadow Link a bit more, so by default I go rat.

Wind waker & phantom hourglass(wind): Frog, because I want them to be able to handle both land and water.

Spirit tracks: I got no clue I never played that.

Hyrule warriors (warriors): cat. Very pretty, very opinionated. Will tell you if you're annoying them.

Age of Calamity (Champion, different from post-memory wipe Link): A dog. But now, a very specifically trained dog, like a German shepherd.

Breath of the wild & tears of the kingdom: They're a blupee. If you'd prefer a real animal, a mischievous little rat. But I prefer blupee because he is very much a little blue guy that runs around the forest

You know, as someone who adores the Four swords adventures manga, I'm always confused by Green's characterization. Vio, Blue, and Red are obvious. Brains, brawn, and heart respectively. But Green? He's just a tad to vague for me. His main thing in the manga is some form of classic heroism, which doesn't really feel like a character trait iykwim? It always just kinda feels like he's supposed to be Link™ but that kinda defeats the purpose. So! I'm going to be rambling about a couple Green concepts that I think give him a bit more spice.

Aggressively average Green. Exactly what it sounds like, he is so horribly, terribly average at everything. Take his dubious characterization and dial it up to 11. Massive potential for an identity crisis, and easy to paste into the manga. His heroism is sorta the only thing he clings to, after all, if he's not the hero, who is he?

Mans fucking tired Green. This dude has been trying desperately to wrangle 3 would-be heroes into some state of cohesion, because he's the actual braincell. Sure, Vio has a lot of facts, but he has no common sense. Green is just trying to make sure his brothers(?) don't die. If it were up to Green, they would all be sitting at home with some hot cocoa and a kitty.

Go with the flow Green. Drawing particularly from the four elements that forged the four sword, we're leaning into the idea of the air element. Green's got absolutely 0 braincells this time, he's moving on vibes. Oh, we're four people now? Sounds good to me. I'm in the middle of the desert? Sure, why not. Vio's being gay with the enemy? Good for him. This is arguably harder to implement in the canon, but we can just say at the time he was just doing what felt most in line with the goal of "be a hero, save Zelda"

Ew Vio Green. Leaning more into their rivalry that was pretty awesome, we're making Green as opposite Vio as possible. While Vio is all "the ends justify the means" Green thinks you can't break the rules even for a good cause. While Vio is very into book learning, Green is very experience oriented. While Vio is an introvert, Green is an Extrovert. You get what I mean? Relying on Vio's incredible characterization to help bolster Green's.

Oooo so we get some mystery with this! Now I'm curious about Four's people, if they're an original species were they around for even if they weren't seen in anyone else's adventures? Are they a common sight in Four's Hyrule, super rare, or common and just not seen like the Minish? What's their name? Gosh, this is so intriguing! I'm also curious about everyone else's opinion of our local mystery among mysteries. Your Chain as Cryptids AU is absolutely amazing and I'm looking forward to hearing more about everyone, as always! Nonono I’m happy to talk about Four!

Full disclosure, I’m very busy with schoolwork (the semester ends in like two weeks!!! I’m barely hanging on) so I don’t currently have the mental capacity to sit and write pages and pages of lore. Writing is so incredibly draining for me, so you probably won’t be getting a full lore post for Spirit until this weekend! It’s one of those things that will take pages and pages to explain and I just… can’t do that right now haha! So I’m happy to talk about Four in the mean time!

Four is… a special case. I want them to be a mystery. Every time someone asks about their backstory- particularly about Shadow- I will always respond by telling them it’s a spoiler. (As I’m starting to organize my thoughts and get my feet under me to get serious about actually writing fics, I’m getting more secretive about story elements. I don’t mean to dangle it in front of your faces, but I don’t want to spoil the big things! I’m sorry if this seems cruel).

Four is pretty secretive about their past, very protective of the things they love, and still working through a lot of their issues. The colors are having a bit of a rough time reflecting on their adventures and so Four… doesn’t really talk about it a lot.

Like I said before, I want Four to be a closed book. The others will know them as an Enigma. They’ve never seen anything like Four before. I will say that they are an original species- like the Aquili for Wind. Their horns are normal for their people. Their affinity for the elements is normal for their people. Their ability to split? Not so much. The colors are still a secret.

(Think… dragons.)

Four thinks it’s entertaining to keep the others guessing. At first, it’s a defense mechanism. Trying to keep their cards close to their chest, never giving the others too much of themself. But as trust starts to grow between the Chain, it kind of becomes more of a running joke? Sometimes, they’ll give small bits of information over dinner. Long nights sitting around the fire. They’ll tell stories of their adventures, but they’d mess up with pronouns and perspectives the same way that Sky does.

Sky, for the same reason, doesn’t share much. Telling stories is hard when there’s multiple consciousnesses trying to speak through one mouth.

Again! I’m sorry, I know you probably wanted more backstory, but just like Four, I’m keeping my cards close to my chest for this one. It’s a secret to the Chain, and it’s a secret to everyone. Just know that I typically don’t stray too far from the game’s (and in this case, the Manga’s) canon. Or at least. I try not to.

Plus, for Storm, my LU OC, they'd end up a cat. Very snarky, very cat. Because I will never give up on self inserts because I don't care if it's cringe.

Sooo.. I got to January 1st in P3R. Man the music and atmosphere suddenly just,, wow. Is that the Tartarus theme I hear? Everything is slightly desaturated, it seriously feels incredible. I'm just taking a moment to hang out in the lobby, listening and exploring the slightly dreary grey world I live in. People may not know the end is coming, but the world feels it. The only spot of color I've found is the Velvet Room, the one place unaffected by Nyx's approach.

It was a bit hard to take the jumble of vocab words that got spit at me seriously, but the art and music really know how to make me care, to make me take this seriously.

I wrote a tragic fic then I regretted it and made it happy. I don't have the heart to do my favorite bois like that

I will give a detailed explanation as to why Tidespring, the cat in my profile picture, could absolutely kill a man.

For one, Tidespring is the leader of the defense sector in the RP I'm drawing him from, meaning he is not only one of if not the best in combat within the selection of characters of this RP, he also has access to many others who could potentially kill a man as well. Not that he wouldn't do it himself.

Next, within my profile picture Tidespring is on his way to go pick up your daughter, because he has what the youth might call 'rizz' which deals extra emotional damage when he out-charismas you in every way possible.

He is also wearing human-sized shades in a human-sized car, meaning he is a human-sized cat. Tell me, in what universe is someone living against a human-sized cat that knows how to do a backflip. Did I mention he knows how to do a backflip?

Lastly, Tidespring has also already killed a man. Well, not man, their name was Wrenwisp and though it's not canon he absolutely did it.

Thinking about LU Four & Shadow again. Because I'm obsessed.

So of course with a lot of Shadow meets the chain fics Four de-escalates the situation pretty fast and Shadow's welcomed as another party member, but I've been thinking. What if Four doesn't do that? What if it's early enough in the adventure that no one trusts Four & they insist on attacking? Or, what if Four doesn't even try, because he doesn't think de-escalation is even possible because of what they've said?

What if Four and Shadow run away together? Become a 3rd party in this adventure?

What if Four can't.. or just doesn't speak up when the chain attacks Shadow?

I want this fic so bad if you can't tell.

Heck, maybe the thing already does exist, maybe it's completed, but I need more of it! What I'm saying is that my fanfiction is not born out of love but out of frustration. Is that unhealthy? Maybe. But does it work? Absolutely.

Anyone else have all these ideas for fanfictions you want to see but you can't really find anything that fits the criteria anywhere? Or at least none that are completed. And you know you could try and write it yourself but honestly writing another story sounds like a pain and you really don't want to?

Like, y'all, I don't particularly enjoy writing that much, I like writing concepts for scenes and saying how things will play out but when it actually comes to formatting all that into a story it's not actually that fun. I just get so upset at the fact that this specific piece of fanfiction doesn't already exist in the world (or it isn't finished) that I go 'fine, I'll do it myself.' And I gotta post it for people to see because other people might be looking for that specific thing too!
