i used to be too shy to interact w fanfic authors, but after i finally started to do so, that i realised they're the same @ me
Danny starts growing ice horns and claws after he discovers his ice powers so he travels to the far frozen once again with more questions.
Turns out so many Yeti's have ice spines, horns and claws because it is their core's way of releasing energy to prevent build up.
Danny learns along with his horns he will also have a lower body temperature as his body naturally releases cold energy. Turns out the far frozen wasn't always so frozen, it was a combination of so many ice core ghosts living in one place that made it what it was today.
Saying, oh look at that [insert cute animal] knowing full well they are driving and cannot look.
the role of the person in the passenger seat is not only navigator but secretary as well. you have to type up the drivers messages to random ladies on facebook about cbd cream & google whether that billy joel song was the theme song for that show or not
Wait. WAIT. This train of thought could lead to some incredible shenanigans. What if Billy thinks that Phantom is the ghost of a previous Marvel. Vaguely immortal? Check, but could just be a ghost thing. Speaks about the gods like he personally knows them? Slightly more suspicious. Knows lots of strange and random historical facts, a lot of which Billy knows simply from being Marvel?
...Shit, Phantom was the previous Marvel. Of course he wasn't the first kid Marvel, is he going to die a teenager? Billy kind of wants to live, but if he over does it, will he turn out just like Phantom too?
Billy's having a crisis and Danny is just kinda worried about his coworker. He'd never had a problem with him being a dead teenager before, why is Marvel looking at him like he kicked a puppy but also holds all of life's answers?
I have seen some Flash recognizing Danny’s Lichtenberg figure scars but consider: what if Captain Marvel recognized them instead?
What if Billy got them whenever he transformed back into a kid?
A fun fact about Lichtenberg figures: They are, in most cases, not permanent!
They occur when an electricity surge causes blood vessels to burst & cause “fern-like patterns” on the skin.
As a result, while Billy’s Lichtenberg figures do fade, he gets brand new scars whenever he transforms back. It would add some fun limitations and inner character conflict to Billy. It would prevent him from having unlimited transformations into Captain Marvel & would give Billy a reason to not become Captain Marvel/Shazam often because Billy’s normal body would just get covered in very noticeable and very distinguishable scars that can take up to 48 hours to fade. Let’s also add the limitation that if he overdid it enough, they could have the possibility of being permanent.
Billy would also have to make sure to not be wearing metal or anything fairly conductive when he transforms, or he’d get a burned imprint of whatever metal he was wearing on his skin.
So: no jewelry or piercings for him unless he wants a burn in the shape of the necklace he was wearing, a scar in the shape of a watch on his wrist, etc.
In other words, Billy would be able to recognize Lichtenberg Figures instantly as he would have A Lot of expertise and experience in knowing what they look like and the consequences touching metal when getting zapped.
With that in mind: imagine that at the end of a rough battle that called in all of the JL on-world; Captain Marvel sees the oddly thin rubber of Phantom’s hazmat suit completely shredded away above his left elbow and notices a familiar scar pattern radiating from a nasty looking burn scar on Phantom’s palm and Shazam just freezes.

Danny sees no problem with this. Fighting is how ghosts say hello, after all, and establishing territory is important! Danny was in Damian's territory, a friendly fight was a good reaction! (He was, again, forgetting that human reactions meant different things, but he would only remember that later.) Danny was rather enjoying pulling out some moves from extinct martial arts to use against Damain. Every deflect and fancy maneuver sparked interest in jade green eyes, and Danny wanted Damian to keep looking at him. All eyes were on him as he vaulted over the table, narrowly missing the knife thrown at him and the tea set on the table.
Phantom had just picked up a bouquet of roses from the flower shop. No real reason for it, it was just near Valentine's day and he thought he would treat himself cause why not?
Well, he got caught up in a rouge attack and thankfully managed to keep his invisibility throughout. His roses weren't so lucky as they went flying through the air and were caught by a boy around his age. One of the vigilantes who liked to run around Gotham.
It was while the guy was staring at the roses looking completely dumbfounded that Danny realized bird boy was kinda hot. With nothing better to do and unable to return to his home dimension and having wiped the memory of everything Ghost zone and Danny related from his friends and families minds, he had found himself with a lot of free time.
He actually makes it a game to just chunk flowers and chocolates and other gifts at Robin whenever he got the chance and remain unseen while doing it.
Damian is both frustrated and impressed. He has yet to so much as spot his admirer(?) throughout the past week or so of being pelted with objects. Grayson has been insufferable with his cooing and Drake has become strangely overprotective. His other siblings had rather lukewarm responses, Brown just asked to be kept up to date, Todd laughed and called him a "little Romeo" which Damian found insulting, Cain commented on the situation calling it "cute" and Thomas asked if he could have some of the candy.
Damian himself has grown rather fond of the person and the gifts. That is, until the gifts became more and more personalized.
The first time he caught a package containing the expensive brand of paints he had been running low on, he had dismissed it as a coincidence. Maybe his admirer had good taste or knowledge of art? Later he received a replacement grooming brush in the exact same brand, style and color as the one Alfred the cat had before it was broken two days ago in one of his siblings mishaps. These kinds of thing kept happening and Damian was content to ignore it.
The final straw came went he came out of his bathroom after a shower and found a note praising him for his artwork in unfamiliar handwriting laying innocently on his desk.
Not a single one of the traps in his room had been sprung. He refused to admit he was frightened as he grabbed the note and went to speak with the others.
Before anyone can say anything, Impulse is in Danny's arms, hugging him tight, and sobbing, 'I didn't kill them, I didn't kill them, they're still there'.
Impulse had been under the impression that when he dissolved the timeline, he killed everyone in it. Which, well, he did, but he also thought that meant that their souls themselves would be dissolved. To find out he didn't completely erase them? To no longer bear that heavy weight silently? It's a greater gift than any future chocolate bar could be.
Whoops.
Impulse had been talking about a candy that had been in the future, that he missed a lot, that had no equivalent in modern times.
So the next time Danny was in the Zone, he asked Clockwork if he could reach into the future and grab a bar. Clockwork just told him that the timeline he was talking about was dead, but that the people from it were occupying the Zone if he skipped forward in time a bit; maybe one of them knows how to do a homemade version?
So he does that, with the help of Clockwork, and manages to find someone from that doomed and dead timeline that knows how to make a homemade equivalent.
He returns to the world of the living and recreates it, and Impulse is beyond ecstatic for both the food and the recipe.
Then he asks where Danny found this.
Danny, mostly human but having been something other for so long that the concept of 'Death' doesn't hit him the same way, cheerfully says he sought the dead souls of the future that had been dissolved and asked.
Now everyone is glaring at him and Impulse can't stop crying.
Shit.
Plot twist! Danny's into that too. He wants someone to match the dramatic flair, and would you look at that? He's got it. And, well, bonus points to Jason for not minding getting French dipped by a twink. Seems to be the opposite, in fact.
One of those "Danny needs a consort" fics where a bunch of people are invited to a mass speed dating event. The invitation uses prettier words but thats what this is. Now Batman wants to go get a look a this super powerful being and see if he's a threat or ally, and would you look at that, most of his children fall into the age bracket the invitation specifies
(or maybe the batkids have just been touched by death enough they're viable candidates and got personalized invitations. Either way Bruce wants to go)
So Batman says a few of his kids will go and he's tagging along as a "chaperone". Maybe a few other JL members do the same with their proteges. The hard part for Bruce is actually getting his kids to agree to go. The biggest surprise is Jason finds out and demands to go.
Now Jason, a known lover of regency period romances, read a copy of the invitation the JL got and knew exactly what this was. There will be a ball. The word "courting" was used. This is a chance to live out his secret romance novel dreams and nothing is getting in the way of that. So he calls the batfam to say he's going
The batfam are like flabbergasted that Jason wants to go to a spooky speed dating event but it has the added bonus of getting the kids to start volunteering bc they have to know why Jason is so excited about this
(Just gonna put this here, hope you don't mind the addition)
The next human Danny comes across is an old man in the kitchen. He had scurried away from the random office or whatever it was when he heard the whirring of an elevator (enhanced hearing for the win. Except for when it was overwhelming) and had followed the next source of noise. The old man seemed to be cooking dinner or a late night meal depending on whatever time it was. Danny was currently just a Little Guy, he really couldn't care less after having his nap.
The old man looked down at him. He looked up. They maintained eye contact. The old man raised an eyebrow. Danny flicked his tail. The other eyebrow rose up to join the first. "I see Master Damian has a new... companion," the, apparently British, man said. He also didn't get called a pet, good. He may just be a little guy who enjoys cardboard boxes and avoids higher thinking skills, but he wasn't a pet. "And when's the last time you've been fed, little one?"
Fed? Food? Danny wagged his little tail and gave his cutest expression. Widen the eyes, furrow his little brows just so, "Mrrp?" He asked, trying to convey his utter starvation and how he was just a little guy, had never ever been fed, he mostly ceartinly didn't eat before starting his vacation. British Guy simply nodded and turned to whatever heavenly smelling thing he had in his pot.
Danny pawed at British Guy. He wanted some! British Guy gave him another raised eyebrow. "I may be unfamiliar with your species, but the general rule is no hot chocolate before allergies are ascertained,"
Danny whined pathetically. He was just a little guy! And if it wasn't for him, then who was it for?
Traffic light kid, out of his traffic light uniform, came skidding into the kitchen.
"Pennyworth! Have you seen-" Green eyes locked onto him. "You!" Yes, him, who still wasn't being fed! The rest of the family(?) chose to burst in at that moment. Danny wanted a vacation, not whatever this is!
Danny had been planning this vacation for months, and Ancients did he plan to make the most of it. His friends and parents all agreed to keep Amity safe while he’s gone for the summer, and he had Clockwork to tell him when it was time to portal back home. As he floated towards a natural portal in the ghost zone (because it’s far more fun when the destination is a surprise), he began shifting his form. He had been dealing with so much both as a human and as a ghost. School, fights, teen drama, hunters— but not this summer! This summer, it’s going to be different! He won’t have to worry about human or ghost problems, because this summer, he’s not going to be either! He’s going to be…
A Little Creature™️.
He doesn’t use his “compact” form very often, since it dampens his powers and takes away his ability to talk. But, on this vacation, he won’t need his powers. He can just wander around an unknown dimension, steal some food, sleep in a cardboard box. If he actually needs to be human for something, he can switch back no problem. But honestly? It’s fun being a little guy, even if being a little guy does make him kinda stupid. (He got stuck in a cardboard tube the first time he went into his little form. He was stuck for half an hour. Didn’t even think to phase out of it. As soon as he was pulled out of the tube, he went right back in and got stuck again). Plus, he can stay in this form for an incredibly long time— he doesn’t even switch back when he’s hurt! (Which no, it was not fun to learn that, but good to know)
Shifting into his compact form, Danny slips through the portal and finds himself wading through a big pool of stuff that seems like ectoplasm, but slightly to the left. Like yeah, it’s technically ectoplasm, the same way a carton of milk set out in the sun for three days is technically milk. Not fun to play in, horrible to eat.
As Danny pulls himself out of the gross, bubbling “ectoplasm” pool, shaking himself off, he sees some sort of big fight going down. Bunch of people with swords, some big guy dressed as a bat, some kid dressed as a traffic light. He considers stepping in for a moment, but… no. This is his vacation. Not his dimension, not his problem. Just be a Little Creature™️. He sees a bat-shaped piece of metal at his feet. He knows exactly what a Little Creature™️ would do in this scenario.
He hits it.
Then he hits it again.
Then he hits it again, and again, and again and again and again and he grabs it and bites it and rolls around with it and tail slaps it and bites it and bites it and bites it and bites it and then he almost gets stepped on.
Danny looks up from his toy to see the kid dressed as a traffic light staring down at him. The kid tries to grab the toy away from Danny only to be met by the fierce batting of his little paws. The kid moves his hand close a couple more times, and each time he’s fought off valiantly by Danny’s little paw smacks. He’s not sure why the kid looks like he’s smiling when he’s so clearly losing this battle. The kid gets distracted by the guy in the bat costume calling out to him, and Danny takes this opportunity to continue biting the bat toy, rolling with it and biting it and batting it and biting it and why is he being carried away by the kid.
Danny looks around and sees that the kid is carrying him into a big plane being piloted by the guy in the bat suit. Then he’s shoved under the kid’s cape, and he doesn’t really see too much for a few minutes. He chirps at the kid, and is met with a soft yet quick “shhh!” He waits until he can feel the plane they’re in take off to peek out of the cape and look out the window.
He can see the large pool— though it’s more of a pit, now that he sees the whole thing— that he arrived through, as well as a bunch of people running away from it. Not sure why though, it’s just a bubbling—
Ah.
It blew up.
… Danny hides a bit further in the cape, clutching his bat toy a little tighter. He wound up in a very comfortable position, which made him just… a little sleepy…
Danny woke up wrapped in the cape, held by the kid, surrounded by a shocking number of people all yelling something about a “tiny pet pit demon.”
Today hasn't been very good. Reblog to cover prev in blankets and tell them everything is going to be okay and they're loved.
