challenge for tumblr: view a post that says "it's good when women reject societal pressure and forgo shaving + make-up" and accept it at that. maybe even add something productive. anything but tired what-about-isms. please
7k notes on this boring sexual misogyny by the way
well anyways. back to hoping for the downfall of the catholic church
I feel sick
I'm on holiday at a mall and there's a family getting candyfloss, I don't know what religion they were but all the females, even the little girls (5 or 6) are fully veiled
And the little boys are eating candyfloss off sticks together and the youngest girl is crying and stamping her foot because she can't eat hers due to the veil and she has to take it home in a bag
“let women date men” “let women shave” “let women be girly and feminine” what alternate reality are you guys living in.
Nitpicky hyperonline post
Tbh it’s a bit weird when I see Radfem posts about the trans-ification of tomboys that say that they’re ’turning them into men’. Because you know, they’re not? It’s a quibble but it’s worth remembering when that 20 year old draws random vaguely masculine female character with top surgery scars, that isn’t an act of sex bending. Mind, there’s a long history of sex bending in fandom spaces- it’s a fictional space so it’d be really easy to go, ‘this is x as a male’, but they go out of their way to keep the character female and advertise cosmetic surgery as a way to make them ‘more themselves’. Admittedly this frames the whole thing as deeply sinister- I don’t think people saying ‘hormones would save them’ have actually thought about what that statement implies or who it benefits.
Can’t reblog the post going round containing these two screenshots:
So I’ll put my addition here:
This also applies to women who complain about feminism requiring them to work, rather than being ‘ladies of leisure’. Women equivalent to them in the past always worked - who do they think were the maids, housekeepers, cooks, nannies, wet nurses, governesses, washerwomen, spinners, weavers, seamstresses, nurses, midwives, etc - and today’s equivalent of the past’s ladies of leisure can afford to be ladies of leisure now. Feminism fought for women’s work to be acknowledged, valued, and fairly paid, and that fight is still ongoing.
Hey so
Why isn’t the left trying to appeal to the ‘Work is shit’ girls and young women?
Girls and women are expressing a dissatisfaction with labor as it exists currently in the western world especially, a system where the rich have obscene amounts of money to spend on bullshit while people starve. A system where they work for hours and hours get no free time and at the end of the month barely have enough to scrape together for rent, and if they get into medical debt? They’re fucked and they know it.
The Right says ‘that’s because you’re a woman, and woman are built for the home’ and the Left is going… ‘you dumbasses don’t you know that when you aim for that Tradwife bullshit you’re setting yourself up to be abused? You’re setting the feminist movement back. I hope you get abused.’ While males are allowed to make the same complaints about work and it’s NOT considered a natural result of male biology OR a justification to take away the rights of males.
in case anyone was forgetting what the church was all about
People who are say 'everyone knows black women are universally more masculine' but in a woke way, also in the same breath sexualize black women's bodies and we're known as the big titty'd fat ass baddies who invented every modern beauty trend. So which is it? People all see us as men (non women) or are we all baddies who Kardashians/Ariana/Iggy are appropriating from. We can't possibly be viewed as women by society, so we're compared to men, and desperately need femininity, 'feminine representation', yet when a celebrity becomes a hyper feminine baddie (surgeries, makeup, nails, extensions) you know exactly what group of women she's mimicking.
look I'm not even on the "you gotta always vote" train but it is funny how the people who didn't vote for harris are like...able to conceive of voting as a collective action when it comes to them not voting, but then uhm also it's just one vote in a blue state it doesn't even matter guys. okay which is it is it a collective act or like an individual nothing matters thing to do like does voting matter enough for not voting to matter or does voting not matter enough for not voting to not matter like which is it 🎤
I have preestablished biases and beliefs about the world, I acknowledge that and am willing to adjust with new information shared.
