not me posting the 4th chapter :)
remus lupin and poppy pomfrey had a special kind of a relationship. the closest resemblance to it would have been mother and son, both nurtureres, taking care of each other, although in different ways.
when she saw him for the first time, she knew that, deep within him, deep within the shell of a 'monster', that had been created around him, there was a little boy who needed to be understood and taken care of.
and that's what she did. every single full moon she'd come after him and tend to his wounds as well as she could, and when she saw him smiling in his sleep, she knew she had done her job right.
she loved remus. such a bright, charismatic young man that some people would reduce to just the wolf, who was so utterly different from what he truly was.

and now he was older, but just a little bit. so was she.
bruised and battered, both of them were, but remus was still the heart of a teenager in the body of an adult.
he was just another kid that had to grow up too fast, just like the kids around them were. kids that had to fight so that they and their families would get out of the war alive.
when she saw him she jumped into his arms; his name falling off her lips.
"you're safe, remus! you're still alive!" she hugged him tightly, just like his mother would have.
"i'm paying you back." remus said quietly, a smile on his face.
and they fought antonin dolohov side by side, wands in their hands, determination on their face, just like they once did in a dark alleyway in london. the two of them, quite the pair, some would say.
green flashed before poppy's eyes and remus' body fell at her feet, limp.
her world shattered. she saw dolohov running outside, looking for someone, she presumed.
he had been only thirty-eight. the boy that she had taken care of, every single month, was now dead. the young boy with a scar across his nose that had turned into a caring young man was now gone.
remus' turn had come, and hogwarts' children died one by one.

sirius' room was a mess.
regulus knew that what he was doing was probably, no, surely, wrong, but the reality he didn't want to face was that he missed sirius. he knew he was intruding and he knew sirius wouldn't have let anyone else in their room, but regulus was always an exception.
a picture fell of the desk. regulus picked it up and he recognized all of the people in it, but there was something that caught his eye.
sirius was happier than regulus had ever seen them around him.
james potter was on their left side, holding a butterbeer in his hand. peter pettigrew was next to james, a wide grin full of admiration on his face. and on sirius' left side, there was remus lupin, one of his arms draped around sirius' shoulder and a strange twinkle in his eyes.
regulus always knew what that twinkle in lupin's eyes meant. what the longing glares and the touches that lingered just a bit too much to be just friendship actually symbolized.
on the chair in front of the desk that regulus glanced to there was one of sirius' leather jackets.
the boy looked at it for just a bit too long, then picked it up and threw it over his shoulders.
he made his way to the mirror and, when he looked in it, he saw a slightly smaller version of sirius.
regulus smiled. the jacket was just a little bit too large for him, but it smelled like sirius. it smelt like cigarette smoke and wet dog. it felt a bit like home.
"you know," regulus started, and a tear rolled down his cheek, "when i was a kid, i used to think you were cool."
but he was still just a kid and he would have given anything in the world to be just a little bit more like his brother.
so yesterday i was rambling with eli and then i said something about the slide, but, as i forgot how it was called, i said "wee-hee in the playground", and ve said it was the best thing ve heard that day
it's no big surprise you turned out this way
"sirius orion black, how dare you! how dare you disrespect me and how dare you screw our reputation up! you should be ashamed of yourself!" walburga shouted in the black's dining room, making the glasses on the table shake. "get out of my sight!"
sirius got up of his chair quickly and ran to his room, thoughts coming up in his head.
when they closed their eyes and prayed you would change
walburga sat on her chair, reached her glass full of wine, took a sip and looked out the window, the moon reflecting itself in her eyes, glistering in tears.
"what did i do wrong" she whispered under her breath. "didn't i raise him right? didn't i raise him to be the heir we all want him to be? am i a bad mother?"
and they cut your hair and sent you away
"where are you going?" regulus asked his older brother, leaning against the door frame.
"away from you all. i'm done" sirius answered." you can come too."
"no..i can't" the other one replied.
sirius sighed. "i'm sorry it has to be like this. well...take care." he finished, putting the last things in his chest and walked downstairs.
"sirius black, where are you going?" walburga asked, getting up from the chair.
"away. and i'm not coming back" he said coldly and left the house.
"sirius...!" walburga shouted. "sirius orion black!"
you stopped by my house the night you escaped
"sirius?" james gasped. "what happened?"
"i-i don't think it's time to explain" sirius replied, panting.
"why am i standing here like this? come in!"
with tears in my eyes i begged you to stay
"i shouldn't come here, i'm sorry" sirius sighed. "i'll just pack my things and search for a place"
"no" james responded. "stay here! you're welcomed!"
"james, you're amazing, but i can't take it. i'm not worthy of staying here, and i'm just a burden."
"no you're not!" james replied. "stay! please!"
you said "hey man, i love you"
"no" sirius finished and exited the room.
"no! wait! sirius!"
"no, james. i shouldn't have been welcomed here. i'll just look for a place to go. sorry"
"sirius!" james shouted after him, with hope that he'll come back.
as he saw sirius walking off, james could only hear the word "sorry" in his head.
"sirius!"
"but no fucking way"
