All of them get to know the truth about Regulus finding and destroying the horcruxes and James. just. faints. Because he sees his beloved after he thought he had lost him. Voldemort is defeated, but the effects carry on. They're different men now. Hardened by war and misery. But James asks if they could fall in love again (even if they hadn't really fallen out of it) especially since he hadn't given Regulus any explanation, only left him standing on the Astronomy Tower once he had seen the Dark Mark on his wrist.
