You clung to your boyfriend as he drove through the city on his motorcycle. A nice vacation spent with just you and your partner. Of course, Tom and Maddie asked you guys to send photos, but you could do that later.

"Alright, which direction now, my dear?" Shadow looked back at you for a moment.

"See that tall building with the flashing lights around the top? Head there!" You pointed it out, grinning widely.

The Hedgehog nodded and cranked up the speed. "Hold on tight, we're going right up!"

"Wait what-!?" You screamed as he drove right up the wall of the tower, using his energy to keep the bike on the building.

Sensing your fear, he reached a hand behind his back to hold you, driving one handed.

"Almost...and...GRAH!" The ebony mobian managed to drive the bike up to the very top of the building, parking it once you guys landed on the roof.

"..." you were trembling.

"My dear are you-"

"I'm fine- is- is that what they call it-" you stuttered, still in shock from all that.

"Shh..it's alright, my darling. We're secure up here." He kissed your hand, then tilted his head. "What did you want me to see up here?"

You pointed up at the stars in the sky, then sat down. "This. I mean, look at all those stars..."

Shadow looked up in awe, sitting right against your side. "...Maria loved the stars, just like you do. I wish she could see this. And...I wish she could've met you.."

You frowned and held his hand. "Shadow, I'm sure she was wonderful. Just never, ever, forget how much she loved you. Alright?"

He stated at you intensely, with those gorgeous eyes of his. Eventually, he nodded with a small grin.

You beamed and kissed him, and he wasted no time in returning the gesture.

His gloved hands held your face so gently. Almost as if he figured you were glass that could break at the slightest wrong touch.

After awhile, you pulled away, standing up with your phone in hand. You selected a song from your YouTube playlist, and turned it up full volume.

Setting it aside, you held a hand out. "Cmon Shads, let's dance!"

"...?" He didn't seem to get what you were doing, tilting his head as you started dancing like a kpop performer.

Trying to help him get the hint, you grabbed his hands and danced more.

And in that very moment, Shadow remembered how Maria did the exact same thing.

He knew she would've adored you...

He smiled a bit and danced with you, tapping his feet to the rhythm of the song.

Then he let go of you and started breaking it DOWN.

"Pfft- SHOWOFF!" You called out.

"Showoff? My dear, I'm simply trying to upstage you!"

You laughed and danced harder.

"I love you, Shadow!"

"...And I love you more, my star~.."

The night was quiet, save for the faint hum of the city in the distance. You and Shadow were nestled comfortably on the couch, the dim glow of a nearby lamp casting soft shadows across the room.

It had been a long day, and while Shadow would never outright admit it, you knew he enjoyed moments like these—just the two of you, away from the chaos, basking in each other’s warmth. Your fingers traced gentle patterns along his fur, absentmindedly brushing through the quills at the back of his head.

Shadow had his arms crossed, eyes closed, his usual stoic expression in place. But you could feel how relaxed he was, the way his breathing had slowed, his body melting ever so slightly into your touch.

Curious, you shifted your hand, fingers grazing a spot just behind his ear. A twitch. Your eyes flickered down. Had his tail just—? You bit your lip, trying to suppress a grin. Testing your theory, you scratched a little more, nails dragging lightly against the same spot.That was when it happened.

A single, undeniable wag. Your heart practically melted at the sight. Shadow, the Ultimate Lifeform, the brooding, untouchable warrior—was wagging his tail. He hadn’t noticed yet, still lost in the sensation.

Emboldened, you moved your hand lower, trailing under his chin. This time, a deep, low purr rumbled from his chest, his tail flicking again—stronger. You gasped. “Shadow, i love you.” He sighs heavily. “What? You didn't do anything did you?” His voice tired and accusatory.

Your lips curled into a mischievous smile as you stared pointedly at his tail, which was still betraying him with slow, unconscious wags. Shadow stiffened. It was like watching someone reboot after a critical error.

“You saw nothing.” His voice was firm, but the slight redness dusting his cheeks told a different story. You giggled, shifting closer, fingers teasingly scratching behind his ear again.

“That’s it,” he muttered, standing abruptly. Before you could react, he scooped you up effortlessly, tossing you over his shoulder as if you weighed nothing. “Shadow—hey! Put me down!” You kicked your legs, laughing.

“No.” he declared simply, walking toward the bedroom. You huffed dramatically. “And what exactly are you planning to do?” He didn’t answer—he simply dropped you onto the bed and climbed in after you, wrapping an arm firmly around your waist to pin you against him.

His head rested on your shoulder, warm breath fanning against your skin. “…This doesn’t seem like a punishment,” you murmured, amused. “Silence.” His voice was softer now, sleepier.

You smiled, snuggling closer. You’d use this new found soft spot wisely.…Or not.

Because the second he drifted off, your fingers twitched with anticipation. Just one more scratch.

Just one.

to those of you who are moving here from tiktok, from someone whos used both tiktok and tumbr for years...

1. DO NOT censor your posts

dont censor sex, abuse, suicide, dont censor it. we dont have censors like tiktok does, you wont be banned for talking about these things and tagging them properly helps people avoid them (also, we dont have shadowbanning here)

2. we dont really have an algorithm

you follow who you follow, and you see posts from who you follow or what you search. the 'for you page' is basically useless here. this also brings me to my next two points

3. dont crosstag

we get it, on tiktok you have to crosstag for reach, but thats not really a thing here. just tag your posts properly (also posters often leave more info about the post in the tags!! and when you reblog stuff you can leave your own notes in the tags, kind of like the old "repost comments" on tiktok)

4. dont expect to go viral/be famous

"viral" isnt really a thing on here (at least not for the average blogger). your posts will probably get 2-10 likes and you wont get nearly as many followers than on tiktok. thats just how tumblr is

5. blocking is your best friend

tiktok is VERY discussion based, and while tumblr is much more discussion based than other social medias, its still not a good place for ragebait/discourse. dont interact, itll make your experience worse in the end, just block and move on

6. you cant go into someone elses house and start rearranging their furniture

this is tumblr, not tiktok. dont diss old tumblr users for how they use the site or try to change them, thats like going into someone elses house and trying to rearrange their furniture. we've been here longer and we're familiar with the site and its culture, either find your niche, adapt, or find a different app

The evening was quiet, the kind of stillness that only came with the late hours when the world seemed to hold its breath. You lay sprawled out on your bed, Shadow at your side, his crimson eyes half-lidded as he stared at the wall. The soft glow of the moon filtered through the curtains, bathing the room in a gentle silver light.

It wasn’t often that Shadow allowed himself moments like these, where the weight of the world wasn’t pressing on his shoulders.

But tonight, he’d let you pull him into bed, his usual guarded demeanor softening in your presence.

Your hand absentmindedly reached out, fingers brushing through the fur along his quills. It wasn't long ago Shadow had first let you pet him. You felt him stiffen slightly but relaxed into the touch. After a second you feel him turn into the touch more, making him snuggle deeper into your side.

His fur was surprisingly smooth, warm beneath your fingertips, and the steady rhythm of your hand seemed to lull him into a state of calm.

After a few moments, a faint, unfamiliar sound reached your ears. It was subtle at first, a low, rumbling vibration that you almost mistook for distant thunder. But then you realized it was coming from Shadow.

“Are you… purring?” you asked, your voice tinged with surprise.Shadow’s eyes shot open, and he immediately tensed again, the sound cutting off abruptly. “No,” he said quickly, his tone defensive.

You couldn’t help but smile. “You so are,” you teased, resuming your gentle petting. “It’s adorable.”

“It’s not,” he grumbled, but his resolve faltered as your fingers found a particularly sensitive spot near the base of his quills. The low rumble returned, louder this time, and you felt the vibrations through your hand.

“See?” you said softly, your voice filled with affection. “I told you it’s cute.” Shadow didn’t respond, his cheeks faintly flushed as he averted his gaze. But he didn’t stop you, either.

If anything, he seemed to lean into your touch, his usually sharp edges softened in the quiet intimacy of the moment. You continued for a while, your fingers moving in slow, soothing motions.

After a queit moment you lay your head atop his, feeling the soft vibrations coming off him. Your hand drifts downwards towards the undersides of the large tufts of fur and quills on his head.

Shadwo let's out a content sigh at the feeling of your nails gently scratching his scalp. The low rumble of purring makes you smile to yourself. Although you revel at the sound Shadow seems to try and hide his face in your side.

"You know your allowed to enjoy this." The hedgehog grumbles something but you only catch bit. "It's just a sound." His defense his weak and he knows.

You hardly catch what he mumbles under his breath. "It's not like it's voluntary." You let out a high pitched 'Aww' at his words. "Shadow you're adorable and I love you."

You don't have to see his face to know he's flustered, you save him the embarrassment and choose to kiss his forehead instead of call him out.

Adter a minute things queit down, your fingers softly run through the tufts of fur. At times Shadow leans himself into it, the low purrs growing louder depending on where you scratch.

As the night drifted on the sound of his purring filled the otherwise silent room, a steady, comforting rhythm that made your heart swell. When Shadow quiets down, it alerts you of him slipping into sleep.

You smile to yourself at the softness of this rare moment. Laying a kiss to the top of head you let yourself be lulled to sleep along with him.
