A funny thing about older comic books is that sometimes, when a character is being a misogynist, I'm like, "And I'm choosing to ignore that. The modern version of him would never say that 😌" and other times I'm like, "Yeah, he's definitely still a misogynist in the 2020s." It ain't even related to if I like the character or not since there are plenty of characters I like, but for some reason, the idea of them being a bit sexist feels more ... idk ... integral? to the character than to others.

If they wanted to break up Peter and MJ’s marriage that bad they already had the material for it, one of the tentpoles of Spider-Man comics is Peter failing to coexist in two worlds at once and failing to be present for the people in his life for it, it wouldn’t have been a stretch to admit that logically it makes him less than what a husband should be.
