this might just be a tiktok issue but every time i see someone say “shen jiu deserved a chance at happiness!” i explode. he had many. his entire life he could’ve made different decisions, he could’ve just not abused lbh, or spoken to yqy, but he never did. that’s his whole thing. he’s even aware of it, it’s like his WHOLE final speech in the extras. he would NEVER EVER take a chance at being better/happy, he’s far too comfortable in his own misery, he has absolutely no idea what to do without it. and he doesn’t want to find out either. THATS THE WHOLE POINT. it’s what makes him such a good character, because he’s realistic in his principles. he doesn’t just hate the antagonist, he hates literally fucking everything and everyone, especially himself. makes me scream idk lmao
What to do if you suddenly find yourself homeless
FOOD
Find your nearest food bank or mission, for food
grocery stores with free samples, bakeries + stores with day-old bread
different fast food outlets have cheaper food and will generally let you hang out for a while.
some dollar stores carry food like cans of beans or fruit
SHELTER
Sleeping at beaches during the day is a good way to avoid suspicion and harassment
sleep with your bag strapped to you, so someone can’t steal it
Some churches offer short term residence
Find your nearest homeless shelter
Look for places that are open to the public
A large dumpster near a wall can often be moved so that flipping up the lids creates an angled shelter to stay dry
HYGIENE
A membership to the YMCA is usually only 10$, which has a shower, and sometimes laundry machines and lockers.
Public libraries have bathrooms you can use
Dollar stores carry low-end soaps and deodorant etc.
Wet wipes are all purpose and a life saver
Local beaches, go for a quick swim
Some truck stops have showers you can pay for
Staying clean is the best way to prevent disease, and potentially get a job to get back on your feet

so….. are we ever gonna discuss the fact that wei wuxian most likely started letting his hair down because there was no more purpose in tying it up since he can’t fight with the sword no more and hair can’t trouble him again if he uses the flute instead? after all, isn’t letting his hair up just a reminder of something he’s unable to enjoy once more?
maybe it wasn’t style. maybe it wasn’t that he wanted to changed. perhaps it was just sorrow. so many things about him can be unraveled as such.

You know what I’m actually not done ranting bc the danmei fandoms on tiktok keep driving me fucking nuts. This rant’s topic is the godawful ”lan wangji would burn the world for wei wuxian” type edits i see on tiktok and i want to scream and bite everytime i see one and not for a good reason. Like did you miss the part of the book where when wwx died lwj took all that love and grief that he had for him and used it to actually better the world? He loved wwx so much that he not only raised the son wwx left behind but also became a teacher and a role model for the other juniors across clans so that he could teach them the values wwx taught him and the values the world lacked and that caused wwx to be driven to death essentially. He wanted the next generation (of lans especially) to not blindly believe in authority figures, to not believe rumors and to question things and think for themselves so that no one would have to be scorned for protecting ppl like wwx was. Lwj loved wwx so much that he gained a reputation for ”being where the chaos is” bc he wanted to help the less fortunate like wwx wanted to, knowing that the big clans often only help richer ppl who can pay for their services.
If lwj wanted to burn the world don’t you think he would’ve done it when wwx actually did die in the story? But see how he didn’t do that? Instead he used the love he had for wwx to transform the world into a better place, bc it was a world wwx loved and a world he arguably died defending. Wwx loved the world & the ppl in it sm that he died standing up for what he knew was right and not budging even when he was pushed to his utter limits. Knowing all of that, do you think lwj could burn down the world? Do you think wwx would want him to? No i didn’t think so.
Also also ppl have got to stop saying that lwj ”waited” for wwx and erasing the actual tragedy of their story which is that wwx wasn’t just gone, he died. He died and he wasn’t coming back and lwj knew that. He didn’t look for him for all of those years (idk where that idea came from) nor was he waiting around for wwx to come back. It was sheer dumb luck and some amount of evil scheming that brought wwx back but let’s not kid ourselves when we say there were a lot of moving pieces in that plan and absolutely 0 guarantee that wwx would succesfully come back to life.
The fact that artfight starts at 2 in the morning here makes me want to smack my face against the wall.

People like to joke about Jin Guangyao being a little too invested in Wangxian and not taking his hostage situation seriously enough, but he was not the only clown in that temple.
When Jin Guangyao dropped the cord he had held at Wei Wuxian's neck, did Wei Wuxian turn and attack? Did Lan Wangji take the opportunity to attack? Did anyone?
No. They did not.
Instead of doing anything to try an get out of being hostages, Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji started hugging and talking to each other. Everyone else just watched.
That whole temple was filled with people who were more interested in the ever shifting drama of the situation than the danger.
