It has been the hardest day you have had in a long time. You take an uber to the dorms instead of your house to see your boyfriend. He was your comfort person, and you needed to feel comforted right now. He made you feel warm inside and like you could just be yourself.
When you arrive, you knock on the door. It is raining, so you are a little bit wet when Seungmin answers the door.
“Oh hey y/n. Minho is in his room.” He says stepping aside for you to come in.
“Hi Seungmin, and oh thank you” You barely manage to croak out.
After coming in, you take off your heels leaving you in just a dress and with your purse. You go down the hall and knock on his door. You heart heavy; you could feel the tears coming.
“Coming!” You hear Minho say. Some shuffles later he opens the door to your shaking and wet figure.
“Can you make me something to eat?” You ask softly.
“Damn Bambi, you look like shit. I’m not making you shit.” He joked, smiling as he pat your head lightly.
Expecting a quick lash back, but you just sobbed as you laid against his chest. He is confused and guilty as he rubs your back.
“I’m sorry babe. Was it the joke? I didn’t mean it. Of course I’ll make you something.”
You shake your head into his chest. He went into the kitchen carrying you, but not before closing his bedroom door. He sits you down on the counter as he looks in the fridge.
“What’s wrong babe? You’re messing up your make up.”
He began to make japchae for you. Once you’re crying is under control, you try to talk as slowly and calmly as possible.
“I got fired today. I don’t even understand what I did so wrong. All I did was bring the wrong color pen to a meeting.”
He sighed as he turned towards you. He ran a hand through your hair. “It is okay babe. They’re just assholes. We’re gonna find you a new job. Alright? I talk to Chan to come up with ideas between the three of us.”
“Okay.. thank you.”
He smiled “You know i’d do anything for you. It is truly nothing. You better eat all this food damn it.”
“Who are you threatening you flat footed-“
He interrupted you “Ahh there’s my girl!” You just laughed and punched his arm.

Synopsis: You and Changbin are high-school lovers, and you both want different things.
Genre: Fluff and angst. Highschool and college! Au
Warnings: mentions of cursing, cheating, and stealing
Word count: 2,792
The break up you guys had was rough, and a lot of things were done and said to harm the other. You both were stubborn and people of your word. Changbin was always a man of principle. You, however, could change your mind rather easily. Not this time though.
He never intended on you guys separating for this long. A whole month has passed, and you hadn’t seen him even in passing. Even though, the first time you seen him was in passing. You guys went to the same coffee shop. He started to see you more often. You guys attend the same school, but lately no one there has seen him either.
That is why you have to reach out to him. As you sit on the couch, you call his phone. You leave a voicemail: “Hey Bin… I miss you. If you hear this message, please stop by. I miss you; I need you… I love you, bye.” Afterwards, you simply hang up. 30 minutes turned into a hour. Realizing he might not call or come by, you begin to prepare dinner for yourself.
You make enough to eat a few times because cooking everyday is not something you enjoy doing. You rarely do unless Changbin helped. He enjoyed your cooking very much even though you often had lots of critiques of it.
Dinner is served after cooking for twenty five minutes. Hearing a doorbell, you stop eating dinner. Approaching the door, you open it to reveal Changbin. You stare into his eyes, tearing up before hugging him tightly.
“You came…” you mumble against his chest. He holds you softly and rubs a hand through your hair.
“You called.” He states simply. “Anytime you call I will come for you. I missed you too. I apologize for everything I did and said to hurt you. It was a moment of misjudgment and misunderstanding. I love you too.”
You relax into his arm. “I apologize as well. I regret everything.”
He nods stepping inside and takes off his shoes. You never left his grip. You are so warm and comfortable around him, “never let me go again.” You whisper holding his hand.
“I won’t. It is so hard to be without you. Everything that happens… I want to tell you. I pass an exam; I would go to call. It doesn’t matter what I did. I always wanted you around in some way.”
Changbin sits on the couch as you sit straddling him somewhat. Head still on his chest because it was calming to listen to his heartbeat.
“You didn’t even call to check on Mochi”
“Is Mochi okay?” He leans up to look at your face. Mochi was the rabbit you both adopted that lived with you because you lived alone.
“Yes she is okay. She has been searching for you around the house.”
“Well her papa is home.”
You cringe a little and hit his arm. “Ew no.”
“Whaat? What if we actually have kids?”
“Maybe then but for now I don’t wanna think of you as ‘papa’ anymore.”
“Well are you hungry because I was eating dinner. It took you long enough! It’s been two hours since I called Binnie.” You pout and look at him.
“Aww the big baby couldn’t wait?” He asks after kissing the pout away.
“Nu uh,” you shake your head “I wanted you to come sooner.”
“I’m here now, so let’s eat dinner.”
You go and grab dinner for the both of you and warm it up. Upon returning, you hand him a bowl and spoon before going to get your drinks. You sit the water on the table and sit down to eat. Changbin had waited for you before starting to eat.
It is nice to eat together in peace. The last time you ate was chaos. Utter chaos.
“You couldn’t tell me dinner is ready?” He asked, coming from your bedroom.
“Maybe if you helped with dinner; I wouldn’t have had to tell you. We aren’t married Changbin; I don’t owe you dinner.”
He was seething. “I went in the room to do my homework. You act like I was doing nothing.”
“You come to my house, demand dinner from me as if we aren’t arguing, then go in my room to do your homework.”
“Yes what is the problem? We’re still together are we not?”
“You think I want to cook alone?! I hate cooking Changbin. I told you this.”
“You have been doing fine for months. What is the real issue? Is it me?”
“Don’t. Don’t start with me.” You faced him for the first time that day.
“If you didn’t want to cook for me, you could have fucking said that instead of painting me to be an asshole.”
You mumbled, “I didn’t have to try too hard.”
He squinted. “Say that again?”
“What?”
“Don’t play fucking dumb! Tell me.” He demanded.
You looked at him confused. Where is the Changbin you had grown to know? He cannot be present right now.
“I said I didn’t have to try too hard.”
“So you think I’m an asshole.” The shocked look on his face made you wanna scream back. You slammed your hands on the table.
“Changbin. You really are gonna tell me it’s not an asshole thing to keep my acceptance letter for my dream school because you don’t want me to live away from you.”
“I don’t want you to leave! Is that so bad? It’s only been a year of us! What if we aren’t strong enough to last long distance?”
“Changbin…”
“What if you fall in love with someone else? I would look dumb waiting on you.”
“Changbin do you have no faith in me?”
“No- I mean yes. I just don’t know. You don’t seem that in love with me anymore.”
You made his bowl of food before grabbing home something to drink. You slid it to him not caring if it would’ve fell or spilled. You left the kitchen without another word.
You watch him eat happily. You finished your food first considering you only had half left to begin with. You sit back against the pillows on couch and look at some of the photos you have of the both of you.
Changbin insisted on taking photos every Monday and Friday. He wanted memories of you both as well as photos to show your ‘grandchildren’. He showed his grandparents you all the time. It was only right.
You cuddle up with him after he ate. You scroll through the photos again together this time. It is crazy how much has changed over a year. Back then, neither of you knew how attached you’d grow.
“Bin can we go for a drive?” You ask pleading with the puppy dog eyes. He could never say no to them.
Windows down and low music playing you ride together down the highway. No where to go just riding. It is nice to be outside at this time. Not many people and the weather is okay tonight.
“Are we truly okay?” Bin asks. He had been building up the courage. You were able to tell by his anxious tapping at the wheel.
“Yes of course. The only problems I have now are for my future.” You sigh, resting your head against the windowsill.
He hums and nods. “Yea?”
“Bin I just don’t know… I wanna be a doctor so bad one day, but school is hard even now.”
He considers his wonders carefully; he didn’t want to say the wrong thing. The worst of all: he didn’t want to argue again. Afraid that another argument this soon would lead to a permanent break up.
“Eventually everything will make sense. You will see how bad you really want it when you’re at your lowest point. I believe in you. I know you want this and will pull through even when times get tough.”
“I would have to go to a University away you know that?”
He is sad at that fact. He watches as your hair flows with the wind. Carefree as you are with him. How could he be without you? He needed to find the answer.
“If you get to accomplish your dreams, it will be worth it. I can’t wait until you come back as a Doctor.”
He understood the need for going for your dreams; he hoped you didn’t forget about him and your goal of a family along the way. He needed you to return home to him.
When the time came, you ended up choosing to attend the university that Changbin hid the letter from. It was okay until the day you had to leave arrived.
He drove you to the airport. It was still a little time before your flight. As you sit together, he holds your hand.
“I hope you know I love you. I will be back as fast as I can.” You say to him between sobs
“I know. Don’t cry. This isn’t goodbye my love. It is just a see you later.” He wipes your tears and kisses your forehead.
“I know, but it is so hard Binnie. You’re the only person I ever wanted. I don’t think I can make it.”
He chuckles. “You can do this. You chose this school because it’s the best. You have to do this. For us and Mochi who is praying for you to return safely and quickly.” You laugh at him, hitting his arm.
“Mochi said that?”
He smiles “Yeah she told me yesterday.”
We are boarding for flight 257 to Cambrige. Flight 257 to Cambrige.
Your sobs got louder. You hugged him tightly.
“I’m gonna miss you.”
“I’m gonna miss you more. Try to make friends, yea? Be good. Pass your classes. JutDae.”
“JutDae. I love you.” You stand up and wipe your tears. You hold your bag.
“I love you too. Let me know when you land. Please I will be paranoid if not.”
“I promise to call you as soon as I do. See you!” You slowly make your way to the gate as he waves. You were leaving for at least four years. Nothing was easy about this.
Many nights and days passed without you being face to face with Changbin. He decided to live at your home while you were gone. One because someone had to make sure everything was okay. Two someone had to care for Mochi who was not going to be able to make the flight with you even if she could come. Three it was closer to the university and had a garage for him to safely park his car.
Arguments happened here and there, but none were as bad and memorable as your first holiday away. It really wasn’t supposed to happen like that.
As New Years rolls around, Changbin expects you to come home. He video calls you to see your face.
“Hi beautiful. I miss you.” His voice sounds so soft.
“Hi handsomee. I miss you too Bin. How are you doing?”
“I’m good. I just ate lunch. I was wondering what day you will be home for the holiday. I can come get you from the airport if my classes aren’t at that time.”
“Oh Bin.. I am not coming home for break. Actually-“ You don’t get to finish that sentence considering that Changbin interrupts you.
“Why not??!”
“I am trying to take my courses as fast as possible which means. I am taking no breaks. I will take courses all year. I wanna get permanently home to you quicker.”
He sits and thinks before saying anything.
“I- I want you home, but I also would like to see you sometimes. You’re gonna miss a lot.”
“I know. I just really really need to come home soon.”
“Is everything okay?”
“Yes I just don’t want to spend unnecessary time here. I have made some friends, but that is not to say I don’t have a boyfriend waiting.”
“Oh friends eh? Are they also staying for break?”
You sigh. Being away from Changbin meant a lot of unnecessary jealousy, he was so territorial.
“Changbin yes some of them are staying.”
“So you’re choosing them boys over me?”
“Changbin I just said why-“
“I don’t wanna fucking hear it. You haven’t seen me all year, and you wanna stay for breaks as well. When were you gonna tell me?”
You are seething right now. “Stop fucking interrupting me, and stop being a little jealous bitch! Nobody is cheating on you Changbin!” You yell at him.
“Why are you getting so pissy then? You are fucking cheating! Check your tone!” He yells back.
“YOU STARTED WITH ME, AND I HAVE TO CHECK MY TONE?! Fuck you, Changbin. How’s this for cheating.” You give him the middle finger and hang up. He calls you non-stop for five minutes. He is obviously mad about not getting the last word like he normally does.
Eventually, he just got use to the idea of you not coming back for holidays. It took a lot of time for him to be comfortable with that. In the end, you graduate early. It was a lot of hard work.
Changbin surprises you at graduation. You are so happy to see him you end up crying. Your friends are also there.
“Aww y/n is crying.” Hyunjin comments as he watches you both.
“It’s always you two. Dramatic seems to follow y’all everywhere.” Seungmin says holding his degree as he watches you both.
You just cry as Changbin holds you. The world just seems to be perfect right now. You are excited to go home.
The flight home for you both is smooth. You are surprised when you return home to basically a remodeled house. Changbin often took time to look through your interests and likes. He saw you had an house board on Pinterest and started planning.
It is so modern and beautiful. You love the way it looked.
“I love it Binnie. You are so sweet.” You kiss his cheek before he leaves to take your bags to your room. You check around, and the fridge is fully stocked. He bought all your favorite stuff in preparation for you coming home.
It is nice to be home, but you have to admit. You are exhausted. Changbin is handling business under his parents’ company while attending classes. You really just want to take some time to relax. You don’t want to put pressure on him though. This is the first time you are truly living together.
You approach your room and immediately hold Mochi. She is happy you’re back. She won’t leave your side. Changbin also doesn’t want to leave your side. You both sit with Mochi for a while before you gather the courage to say anything.
“Bin can I ask you something?” He looks up from petting Mochi.
“Anything you want.”
“I know this is a big ask, but could you support me for a little bit emotionally and financially? I really need a break from school before starting work at a hospital. I just feel drained, and I’m nervous if I keep going I will be burnout.”
He holds both your hands as you lock eyes. “I will support you through anything. Take your time babe. You’re gonna be the best doctor ever.”
“Aww I love you so much.” You kiss him softly. It wasn’t a kiss of lust just passion. He cups your cheek gently before pulling away.
“I missed your kisses. You can pay me back in them over the next month or however long you need.”
You laugh at him before getting up. You yawn and stretch before petting Mochi one last time.
“I’m jetlagged, so it’s probably best if we go to sleep.”
“You want your graduation present before bed?” He questions, excited.
“Okay let’s get ready for bed then I’ll take it.”
You both shower and do your separate bedtime routines. He hands you a rather large gift. You slowly unwrapped it. It is every Monday and Friday picture from you guys in highschool in a frame. You tear up and hold the frame close. It’s crazy how far you’ve come and how far you have to go.
“I love it Changbin..” you sniffle before letting it go some. “I-“ you stop watching him get on one knee before you.
“Y/n.. I know the last few year’s of our lives have been nothing normal. I just want to be clear you have still made me the happiest man alive. No matter what I want you by my side. Will you marry me?”

You wandered the streets searching being cautious with every step. Desolate and quiet the streets are; they once were loud and bustling. Chan held one of your hands. He took the lead as you watched behind you. Always. You couldn’t take any chances. Not after Felix…
You got to the old convenience store early. Never leaving in the night time. It just wasn’t smart anymore. Inside the store could be as desolate as the streets, but you both knew you had to check it out. Because he was more agile these days, he climbed up the shelf closest to the door without making a sound.
It was imperial to not make a sound. As he slowly jumped from one shelf to another, he grabbed anything he could reach and stuffed it in his bag. Eventually, he made his way back to the front.
“Good job Channie”, you whispered. You gave a thumbs up. He had gathered some snacks, a blanket, some type of medicine and water. He bowed a little “Thank you. Now let’s get out of here.”
The grovel under his combat boots signaled you were going from where you came. District 9: underground headquarters established by 3racha. Chan, Changbin, and Han leading the pack meant someone was always out gathering, surveying the entrance, and helping on the inside.
Today it was you and Chan’s turn to gather. 7 bags meant Water, Snacks, medicine, possible lighters/gasoline, candles, blankets or clothing, and period products/towels the rarest thing to come across these days.
“I wonder what will end it.. bomb? Astroid?”, you think out loud to him. He hums, “Maybe this is purgatory for our sins in our past lives.” I hate them then. It’s not my fault they did something wrong.
You met Chan when you were both sixteen. You were young, dumb, and broke: no Khalid. It was nice then, simple. You went on dates together. You panicked over outfits and hairstyles for hours. Everything had to be perfect for him.
Now you wore rather dusty black vans, a green shirt with a black pull over, and some jeans. Chan looked handsome as always. He wore a navy blue bomber jacket with black joggers. You both wore fingerless gloves and knee pads. It made sliding easier.
Chan was your high school sweetheart turned forever lover. Even if you wanted to leave him, which you didn’t, there would be no real options. Just some guys you could get to know and his closest friends.
You hit the next place: an abandoned gas station. Lighters, snacks, water, and toilet paper. A successful stop. “Did you need to use the bathroom?”, he asked. He could go outside. It was rarely anyone around. He didn’t want you to do that; you didn’t even feel comfortable enough to do it anyway.
“Yea I’ll try to go while we’re here.” You went and came back. “Let’s go Channie.”
The search continued. His glances at you were loving still… even after everything that has happened. He still loved you, and you still loved him. It was nice to not be alone for this.
You both finished right before dusk. The walk back included talks about your period, dinner, and life way back when. “You remember our song?”
He smiled and laughed. “Of course. I wrote it.” He was a cheeky bastard. “I know. Just making sure we have one thing left.” He held your face gently. “We have each other.” You nodded tears falling down your face. It was not easy going through this.
Wiping your tears hurt him, you knew he hated seeing you cry. You tried not to causing yourself to lay a head in his chest. He almost fell because of the sudden weight. He patter your head. “I understand. I know princess.”
You sobbed louder but quickly looked up. “No…”, Chan mumbled.
You both ran quickly. Chan dragging you as you looked out for both your behinds. A zombie groaned coming your way. Chan quickly pulled his gun from his waist holster. He would shoot if you missed. You unsheathed your machete. It was always on your back. The sash being around your body meant danger. You never wore it at district 9. It was safe there.
You both tried to out run the one while also leading it away from district 9 considering you were heading in before this. As he got closer, you slashed him across the chest. Some blood splattered but you got him good. “I will always protect you Chan.” He kissed your forehead.
“I will always protect you too. I’m glad you decided on a machete. It’s quieter. Idk how Changbin does it.”
Changbin. Master of arms. Shotgun on his back for lonely days. Sometimes Sniper on his back as well. Pistol and knife on his hip always. Never cared about himself. More about everyone else. If he “had it his way”, he’d be dead already.
You both continued to move forward with you basically on Chan’s back. You had wandered pretty far to the other side of town trying to move from district. It was more zombies on this side, less explored. It would be less frightening with Changbin or Minho around.
Minho was more close combat. Machetes, bats, and knives. He had great body control and had learned some parkour from Felix as well as Hyunjin. He could get out of most slippery situations. As well as help one of you, he is a team player for sure.
You heard the sound in the air from something flying then a car alarm. “Chan”, you warned. He looked behind you. “Oh shit.” Someone’s out here and trying to kill us. For supplies? Weapons? Just to be hateful.
You both ran. A swarm following you. You never saw who threw that thing, but you’ll send Changbin back to kill them. Maybe kill them your self.
“Do you trust me?”, Chan asks.
This isn’t the first scenario you needed to trust him. “Y/N let’s go.” He had on his combat boots again. Felix at his side. You had worked in threes. You, Chan, Felix. Changbin, Jeongin, Minho. Han, Hyunjin, Seungmin.
You strapped on your machete and nodded. “Ready!” You three left district waving to Jisung who was on guard duty today. He looked cool. Where’d the armor come from?
You moved as a pack. All in a line. You in the middle with Chan and Felix to your left and right respectively. Small talk was made.
“So Felix.. Changbin?”, you asked softly. His slight blush gave away anything. “Yea.. it’s been a while, but we finally admitted to each other.” You wanted to clap in joy.
They deserved to be happy together. Should’ve been happy together. It all happened so fast. One trip over a bottle in a desolate place led to hoards coming.
You all ran as fast as your legs could take you hoping to lose them. You always used tall buildings. Parkour away if possible. Chan was the least use to it, so Felix always helped him.
“Up here!”, you whisper yelled. Chan couldn’t find his balance, so they both fell. Chan was climbing back up when Felix got bit for the first time. No one was watching the area.
The look in your eyes as the world stopped. “Lix”, you whispered. “I love you guys.. and Changbin too”, he disappeared into the hoard after that. His muffled screams haunt you till this day.
“Do you trust me?”, he asked. He wanted to run. Take the chance while they’re distracted even if the distraction was his best bro. Felix did this for us to live. Don’t let it go to waste.
And right now probably won’t be the last time you have to trust him either. “Yes I trust you Chan”, you tell him confidently.
He leads you to a cliff of some mountains. He quickly ties the bags to a tree nearby. “We’re gonna jump.” Huh? You looked up at him like he was crazy.
“Hell no…Chan there has to be better ideas.” He shook his head. “It’s a cliff right there”, he points about a meter down. “Big enough for us, small enough to hopefully avoid them landing on us.”
He didn’t give you a second before jumping down. He landed perfectly like a cat. Has he been training with Minho? Sheesh. “Chan, what if I miss the cliff?” I don’t wanna die. I’m too young to die. He looked up, “You won’t.”
As the hoard came closer, you finally gathered the courage and jumped. Your toes grazed the rock before you slipped causing you to scream.
Chan grabbed your hand just before you would’ve fell almost going himself. He is leaning down holding you with all his strength as your body dangles off a cliff.
The look in his eyes shows a lack of worry.
“I’ll never let you go, don’t worry.”
His reassurance made you want to cry even more. As the zombies fell off the cliff mountain trying to get to you, he pulled you up carefully.
You hugged him once you were standing crying into his shoulder. He wouldn’t let you go physically or mentally. He loved you enough to almost fall with you.
He rubbed your back, “I love you. I’m sorry I put us in this situation…” You both shared a soft kiss.
“I love you too. I understand you thought this was a good idea and it was. Let’s get back up and out of here.”
