Everybody in the world is seeking happiness—and there is one sure way to find it. That is by controlling your thoughts. Happiness doesn’t depend on outward conditions. It depends on inner conditions.

One of my biggest pet peeves in the fitblr/instagram fitness community is the misuse of the term “superset”.
According to the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), a super set is defined as: “ the performance of two exercises that activate opposing or antagonistic muscle groups….with no rest between each exercise” -for example, alternating push and pull exercises back to back (push ups and cable rows)
A compound set, however, is “two exercises coupled together [that] train the the same muscle group”.
So, everytime you see an instagram fitness model show you a “super set” with squats and jump squats or overhead presses and lateral raises, please know she meant to say COMPOUND SET and it kills me a little bit inside.
@putthatazztowork please back me up on this 😫

It’s interesting to me that so many people are ready to give Ms. Val the boot from UCLA. I feel like you guys are forgetting the business aspect at play here: Ms. Val has effectively created a gymnastics program whose draw and prestige doesn’t depend on winning a national title.
Most high achieving / well known sports programs are that way because they have a strong foundation of winning big. And that drives viewer interest / ticket sales and marketing opportunity. Most importantly it drives recruitment. Good athletes naturally want to go to a school and team that they can win with.
UCLA has essentially beaten that system. Yes, they do still have to deliver and not making it to Nationals so consistently would be highly problematic, but they don’t have to be crowned national champions, or even division champions to maintain what they have.
People are going to be fans of the team because they have former elites competing. People are going to buy tickets to see them up close and having fun in a smaller arena. And elite gymnastics are still going to want to go to UCLA because Ms. Val has a fun quirky program that lets them throw dream skills like Katelyn Ohashis full on beam and have “unique” chorography by the one and only Ms. Val. And ex-elites bring their other big name friends with them. People love it that Simone shows up to watch a meet. And Jordyn Wieber still has a place in the picture as the team manager even though she can’t compete. One more Olympian for the crowds to pay to come see.
Ever notice that this is the team being talked about on Ellen? Or that publications that generally just cover Olympic contenders is writing pieces on Kyla and Maddie’s transitions to college? All of this is great publicity for UCLA, and in a time where gymnastics programs are being cut left and right for not making enough money, I’m sure it looks great to the athletic directors office. Probably even better then a national championship of a sport that most people (sadly) don’t watch outside of an Olympic year.
Is UCLA not living up to their potential? Yes. Do they probably need to work on mental strength and conditioning? Undoubtedly. But do they need to oust the head coach that created a dream marketing opportunity and herself is a huge reason recruites come to the school. Absolutely not. And it’s not going to happen.

If you have a history of shoulder issues, the half-kneeling landmine press is a great alternative to a traditional overhead press. This variation encourages scapular upward rotation that so many people lack during other overhead movements. The half-kneeling stance is a good core stability challenge as well. Make sure that your ribs don’t flare and you don’t lean too much to one side as you press! 💪🏻

Any guidelines/rules or tips you could give me for making an OC with DID? I don't want to be stereotypical or offensive, and I want to be as accurate as possible!
I (and we) totally appreciate that! Doing thorough research, especially by reading the many accounts of people who publicly share their stories, will be of great help. Some YouTubers (Autumn Asphodel, Multiplicity and Me) and some blogs (like The We in Me) could be great places to start. You’re also welcome to check out the #DIDchat tag on twitter to read experiences of real people living with DID. It’s a weekly chat, but the hashtag can be viewed at any time!
Also, if you want a good feeling of what it’s like to live with DID, I’d recommend watching the show Sense8. It’s not actually about DID, but it’s basically exactly what living with DID is like lol.
But, let’s see, if I were to help you write this disorder into “a” character, here’s what I’d suggest:
Understand why DID forms: Simply (and subjectively) put, DID forms when a child under the age of nine experiences repeated trauma that they cannot handle. They detach from it (dissociation) and when this dissociation isn’t enough, their brain literally creates a family–more than one person–to handle the trauma. Think of your character not as an individual, but a family or team that was built to handle circumstances an individual couldn’t handle alone. DID is an adaptive and creative disorder.
When writing a character with DID, you’re not just writing one character. People with DID aren’t a person with alters–many of us consider ourselves and our alters to all be equal. One may appear most often, but that doesn’t mean we’re more of a person.
Create complex backstories, worldviews, and motivations for each alter. Alters are full identities, meaning each one sees and experiences the world in a unique way. Essentially, create each alter into a whole individual person (with their innate “role” having to do with the trauma their whole system faced). Just like how a character’s experiences inform their personality, an alter’s experiences do the same. Keep in mind that alters can have different physical abilities and experiences too (i.e. different strengths, one having a mobility condition, one being blind, etc).
Understand when each other will take over. Since they are multiple people, but all share one body, it’s common to fight for time out in the world. For self-expression, to be ourselves, and so on. Think about which characters are comfortable not revealing themselves, and if some feel the need to. Think about when they will take turns being up front (both accidentally and intentionally).
Don’t focus solely on alters. Because people with DID are trauma survivors, we basically all have PTSD (most often Complex PTSD). Look into those symptoms and figure out what each individual alter will have as their most prominent symptoms, which ones distress them the most, and which can they handle well. Also, describe the complexities of dissociation, amnesia, and other symptoms with DID.
Understand the alter’s role, but don’t stereotype them. (And gosh, please no murderous alters! Or if you have a violent one, have them be sympathetic and violent because they needed to in order to survive, since that’s the real story behind violent alters.) I’ll give an example of a stereotype versus reality below.
Don’t make DID too obvious to the people who know the character (presuming they’re not “out”). Although sometimes it’s obvious that a person has more than one identity, it’s often a very subtle disorder. It more often appears as mood swings (like alters who tend to feel different moods more often–though remember that each alter can feel every emotion, they don’t represent single emotions unless they are fragments, but that’s more rare and probably too hard to get into in writing). As well as appearing as memory loss.
Capture the issues people with DID face. Acceptance, stereotypes, stigma, being presumed to be dangerous, not being believed by mental health professionals, not having physical disorders taken seriously, and so on.
Pay attention to the internal relationship dynamics. Communication is key for those of us with DID, we have to get to know each other, understand each other, and support each other if we want to live harmoniously. A good exercise might be to imagine (after writing all the alters’ basic character traits) them all stuck in a room together. How would they treat each other? What relationships would they have?
Don’t forget the embarrassment of suddenly having someone comment on a private thought of yours. Alters, since we all share the same head, will sometimes chime in at really awkward moments. Even though we’re not all present at the same time, we are sometimes present at inopportune times.
And here are some personal examples corresponding to these above points that might help get your creative juices flowing! (All what I’m willing to share, so some might be vague, and heads up for abuse mentions.)
For three of us, here’s how we all sort of formed. I think I, Arien, was around first. I’m generally compassionate, trusting, and try to heal others (even those that hurt me). When I was abused too painfully, more than I could handle, Bael came into being. He’s more sexual (basically adapted to get off on being abused) and he’s masochistic. When we were then asked to do morally questionable things by our abuser, Sion stepped in. He was colder and more detached, and didn’t have the same issues with morality as the rest of us. See how some of us formed to step into a situation the others couldn’t handle, or didn’t have the skills to? (Sense8 btw, gives a really good subjective portrayal of what this feels like.)
Don’t really have anything to add to this point. Though, you might want to write one alter that’s hesitant to realize they are a we. I was initially scared I’d lose my sense of self when I was admitting I wasn’t alone in this body.
Some examples of our differences: Bael is very good at drawing anatomy and understanding lines and angles when drawing. I’m a softer, more curvy, artist. I’m better at coloring. Sion likes overcast, rain, and wintery weather, whereas I get depressed and moody in the winter. Bael doesn’t like Indian food (besides chicken curry) but I LOVE Indian food. I have a mild mobility disability, Bael is very rarely disabled at all (he’s pretty strong, except for when our body as a whole gets sick). Ava is afraid of water, the rest of us love it.
An example of intentionally taking over: Bael wants to talk during therapy, so on our walk there, he turns on his playlist and the music helps him come forward and feel grounded. An example of accidentally taking over: During past abuse, I’d be abused and it would be intensely painful, then I’d just black out (not pass out, but no longer remember anything). Bael was taking over during that time. Sometimes we accidentally switch without amnesia. Like in therapy I was once talking about Bael and then Bael was like “wait…I think I’m here now” to our therapist.
For context, I remember about 10% or less of my life. And I miss casual things too. Like my apartment is cleaned or messier and I don’t remember doing it. I’m half way to a destination and then realize that I’m halfway there (like not remembering how I got to the half way point). Recently, a friend texted to confirm we were meeting in an hour, and I had no recollection of us ever setting up a time to meet at all (despite it being in texts when I looked back and such). PTSD and other symptoms are things you can look up, I think they’d be easier to write. Also, sometimes we jump when we look in the mirror. Like we don’t recognize ourself (depending on who’s fronting) and it startles us.
Okay! Stereotype versus reality. Sion (tentatively) said I can use him. He’s what’s sometimes called a “persecutor alter,” alters who tend to take after their abuser and sometimes will hurt the system or others. If you were to write a persecutor as a typically abusive, one-dimensional person, it would be stereotyping them. But, if I were to write someone, based on Sion, I’d describe how much he struggled to accept himself because of the immoral things he was forced to do and chose to do to save himself and us. How he felt that was all he was good at. I’d describe how he thought Bael needed to be hurt when he was stressed, because that’s what Bael described wanting. I’d talk about Sion’s complex desire to protect us, yet also being afraid he’d hurt us. There’s a lot more, but that’s all he’s comfortable with me sharing.
In my own experience, I had one friend who had met a few of us alters and she kept a journal about it. But she thought maybe it was something spiritual. More commonly, I would just have confused friends (before my dx, when I didn’t have an explanation) be angry that I didn’t remember promising or telling something, accuse me of manipulating them. Whereas I literally just wasn’t the identity that had promised something or given a different opinion earlier. A friend also described me changing opinions mid-dialogue. Like “ah, I’ll totally commit to this lease, I feel great about it!” and then “there’s no way I’m going to commit. It’s a bad choice for all these reasons.” It wasn’t me doubting myself (it was multiple selves), but that’s how it looked like to others.
There is SO much stigma around DID (one reason I’m happy to type all this out! To help dismantle that). Look into movies that bug those of us living with it, slurs and microaggressions (”yeah, it was like she had multiple personalities, she was so emotional!!”). How we’re treated as monsters rather than survivors. The fear we face whenever we see a new doctor or go to the hospital and have to decide if we want to say we have DID or not. How we’re left out of conversations about mental illness, abuse, and childhood trauma.
This point’s more on your character development! But, I can say, us alters argue, support each other, comment on each other’s actions, I narrate what we’re doing sometimes (lol). Also, sometimes we’ll get tired of the others being in pain. It takes a lot of energy to always, in the back of your mind, know someone is hurting. (Like our Little will sometimes cry for a day or two and we can all hear it.)
Oh gosh, point ten happens so much! Like I’ll be fantasizing about something then someone will comment on the thought and I’ll be like “auhhlsiudhfliushd” *blushes* xD. It’s even worse if one us fantasizes about another alter LOL. This can also happen with other private thoughts (not so funny ones) like suicide ideation, shame, watching one alter act on an addiction, etc. Also, us alters do feel some of each other’s emotions (like we’re affected by it), although it doesn’t feel like our emotions.
I really hope this helps you and many others write and understand DID! More questions are totally fine, and this post is okay to reblog!
(Also hey if you want to pitch into my service dog fundraiser that would be awesome?? :D)

I love both research and working out, so here’s a post about things that might add a little verisimilitude to your hockey RPF, if you’re interested in that sort of thing. Please note that while I’ve been weight training for many years, I’m by no means an expert, and I don’t have any particular insight into the details of hockey-specific training, so I welcome corrections/additions. Hockey players do a lot of agility and conditioning work that I’m not very familiar with.
First, protein shakes don’t taste disgusting. Both whey powder and casein powder are tasty, if you don’t buy total crap—and believe me, NHL players are not drinking crap. It comes in powder form, and you mix a scoop with milk or water. Flavors include chocolate, vanilla, and mocha cappuccino (the best). Your favorite hockey player is not choking down an unpalatable shake.
Strength training is organized into “sets” and “repetitions.” You do a certain number of repetitions of a specific exercise in a single set, then rest for a while, then do another set. I’ve seen references in stories to players “doing reps,” which is kind of nonsensical without naming the actual exercise! Doing reps of what?
Another thing to keep in mind is that it’s almost impossible to converse during a set. You’re typically performing the Valsalva maneuver (holding your breath) during each rep, and you’re working really hard. Maybe you’ll chat between sets, but your characters are probably not talking to each other while they’re actively bench pressing. I can squeeze out maybe a word or two, usually “HELP” to my spotter.
Now I will move on to addressing a few of the actual exercises hockey players perform as part of their dry land training regimens! We’ll be using videos of Penguins players as our reference material, because that’s what I’m into.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DdKyEibE104 This is a very interesting video because Andy O’Brien is some kind of crazy hockey training genius. None of these exercises are traditional strength training moves; it’s all hockey-specific stuff that’s clearly designed to maximize on-ice performance. Every video I’ve seen of Sid working out is kind of bananas, but it obviously works for him. He seems to focus on agility and plyometric work versus pure strength training.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9m4D8RkJjYE Here’s Tanger doing more run-of-the-mill strength training work, with some conditioning stuff thrown in. In order: plyometric work (jumping), agility work (footwork), weighted chin-ups (very hard to do), bench presses in the power cage, Bulgarian splits squats (AKA rear foot elevated split squats) (he is INCREDIBLY STRONG, this is A LOT OF WEIGHT), weighted inverted rows, more plyo work, and then some sled pushes because I guess he wasn’t tired enough already. Tanger has stated that working out is his hobby, and I believe it. This dude is intense.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GwKvG0o68SI Now we move on to Geno. He starts off doing rack pulls (a deadlift variant) in a power cage (please do not arch your back like that if you ever perform this exercise). Then, he does some dumbbell squats on a BOSU ball (he’s holding dumbbells and standing on the BOSU ball). His legs are very skinny. He then shows us his pit stains. Then he starts doing something weird with a kettlebell (that’s the red thing he’s holding), this is I think some kind of hockey-related exercise that maybe his trainer invented for him. Next, some cable rows mixed with squatting, this is again probably a hockey thing. Then he goes swimming, and I don’t swim because I hate cardio. Then we have some kettlebell squats combined with overhead presses with the kettlebells. Finally, some push-ups with a modification to make them more difficult. My impression from this video is that Geno does not really enjoy or care about working out, but I still love him.
I hope this is helpful! I’m happy to answer questions! Hit me up with any additional videos of players working out and I will do the scintillating play-by-play. There was a nice gifset of Carl Hagelin working out that I saw literally yesterday and now can no longer locate.
Edit: Thanks to ehghtyseven for hooking me up with the gifset of Hags, and I found video!
https://youtu.be/kh57BrH40tk?t=127 This is a nice workout combining strength work and conditioning. He starts with some power cleans with a barbell, which is a good movement for explosive power. Then he does step-ups onto a bench while holding a plate. I can’t tell how much weight it is, from the size i’m guessing 35 pounds. Then he does some bent-over side raises with dumbbells. Next, pushups. Then some modified crunches and other core work (I don’t know what that exercise is called) before he gets on the bike. More ab work, then single-leg glute bridges with his feet elevated on a bench. He has nice thighs. Then more core work and more step-ups. He finishes with some front raises with dumbbells, which is a total bro move. Hags wants to have sexy shoulders. I respect that.
I can get my head turned by a good-looking guy as much as the next girl. But sexy doesn’t impress me. Smart impresses me, strength of character impresses me. But most of all, I am impressed by kindness. Kindness, I think, comes from learning hard lessons well, from falling and picking yourself up. It comes from surviving failure and loss. It implies an understanding of the human condition, forgives its many flaws and quirks. When I see that in someone, it fills me with admiration.

Do you think, if they survive the second apocalypse and the end of the show, that Clarke and Bellamy could ever have a family? How do you see each of them handling parenthood?
This has been sitting in my inbox forever, mostly becauseparenting and to have/to not have kids is a topic that risks alienating peopleand it is so difficult to talk aboutwithout someone feeling like you’re shitting on their choices and I have nothad the brainpower recently to navigate it. However, @wellamyblake‘s awesomelymorose headcanon on this subject (I loved it. I cried. I loved it some more and then yearned for fluff) has inspired me toput digit to keyboard at last.
This may border on fluff. You have been warned, but WE ALLNEED HAPPINESS RIGHT.
Disclaimers out the way first, because this stuff isimportant. Women in all walks of life faceso much pressure to have kids and it annoys me immensely that happy story endingsfor ladies almost always involve children somehow, even if a female protagonisthas repeatedly said she doesn’t want to procreate (I’m looking at you SuzanneCollins). THAT SAID, it also annoys me immensely that parenting isrepeatedly shat on as a lesser (i.e. feminine) choice more generally, as inbringing up other humans could not possibly compare to the Very Important ManJobs that also make the world go round, and I wish that parenting and itsassociated joys and terrors were tackled more frequently in the media moregenerally.
You see the minefield we’re dealing with here. (Sidebar: my feminism is undoubtedly not whatyou were after with this ask but I offer no apologies for delving into it. THIS STUFF MATTERS.)
So what follows is just my read of Bellamy and Clarke and myown personal headcanon – no more valid than anyone else’s – and is inevitablycoloured by my own experience as a parent.
OK, so the question at hand. Could I see Bellarke family? The short answer is YES PLZ, because mybeautiful space babies have been through so much and I would dearly, dearlylove for them to have a shot at family life after everything they’ve beenthrough, and to reap the rewards thereof. Not actually in-show, mind you (JASONNO), but this is what my headcanon looks like.
I’m going to reference MJ throughout because her headcanonwas so beautifully put together and I super agree with lots of it. Bellarke’slegacy will absolutely be cemented in the lives they’ve saved over and overagain and I don’t think Bellarke kids would be relevant to their legacy per se.So too, Bellarke’s legacy will exist in the found family they have amongst thedelinquents.
But honestly, I think that having a family would besomething selfish, just for them and just aboutthem as a couple, and that’s what I like about it so much after all thesacrifices they’ve made for their people.
Let’s rewind for a second. Why would Bellamy and Clarke evenwant kids? Well so much of it for me isbound up in their respective childhoods. Bellamy’s family life was clearly veryimportant to him. He loves his sister. He loved his mother very much too. It is this love from which he derived somuch of his strength in impossible conditions in the Ark, and later on theground. In fact, Bellamy is basically made of familial love – the love for hisactual family, his love for his found family, and his love for the variouswaifs and strays he picks up on the way (Charlotte and, *cough* Riley). How awesome would it be for him to have afamily on his own terms? A family whichhe chose to have (rather than foisted upon him), with the woman he loves? Thethought of it warms my tired, grizzled heart to a veritable furnace.
Need I mention this:
Clarke’s situation is slightly more complex, as biologicallyshe would bear the initial brunt of parenthood, and let’s face it, Clarke is aperson with Shit To Do. But in my headcanon, Clarke is tired of saving theworld, ready to try something different even if it’s just for a little while, and take on a challenge of a different nature. And my girl NEVER shies awayfrom a challenge if it’s something she wants. I get the impression that Clarke’schildhood was relatively happy, and I think Clarke, like many people, wouldlike to recreate that childhood happiness for someone else with someone sheloves.
Also this
And just, drawing from my own experience, having a familytogether is about building a life together, and while achieving that through kids is not the right thing for everybody, I think Bellamy and Clarke’s depleted family connectionsand unique situation would drive them to create something new in their ownimage.
Now, MJ made the absolutely valid point that Bellamy andClarke wouldn’t feel worthy of passing on their legacy via the gene pool, having had hand in circa 1,600 deathsbetween them. This is 100% fair, but one thing about being a parent is this:you want better for your children than you had for yourself. You want your children to be BETTER THAN YOU.You want to pass on the wisdom gained from the mistakes you’ve made so thatthey don’t make them. And Bellamy andClarke, who have made so many mistakes and had the courage to face them all, would have more than a little invested in passing on their wisdom to a secondgeneration of Skaikru.
As for how they’d handle it. Well parenthood is and alwayshas been about sacrifice, but (where it is a choice) it is also a selfish thingtoo – about bringing life into the world partly for your own benefit. And whoknows more about sacrifice, or deserves more selfish pleasure than Bellarke? What’smore it has always struck me that Bellamy and Clarke are both naturally very affectionatepeople. They enjoy lavishing love andaffection on people and receiving in return. Again, own family, own terms.
And most importantly, Bellamy and Clarke have each other. They are a team. Bellamy may struggle with letting his impulses get the betterof him, or expressing himself; Clarke may struggle with relating to those sheloves, but between them they’ll muddle through because they always have andthey always will.
(Before embarking on yet another sacrificial journey though, both Bellamy and Clarke deserve a long, long rest of several years, just them, spending lots of time together lounging in long grass, swimming in lakes andscrewing in caves. Just have a look at the fanfic, OK? It’s all there.)
I warned you about the fluff. Now I’m embarrassed and I’mgoing to shove my face in a cushion until you all go away and stop looking atme.

Forget about the commander can't have a family thing. How would you headcanon Clarke and Lexa having a child?
DHFJKGHJSDFKGSHJS
Ok. So, first thing first, they would totally adopt one. Yeah, they could have Abby perform some sort of IVF, but I just don’t see it for them. It’s way more likely that they would take a child in instead, an orphan. A little girl? Let’s go with a little girl for this.
It would come after MANY discussions about this particular matter, because these two have so many issues. Lexa would be terrified because no Commander before her had a family, it was simply something unthinkable, so she is worried that being a mother simply won’t work with her being also the Commander. Also, we know that Lexa has problems with feelings: she was raised to believe that love is a weakness, and even if she never truly believed that and learned that love is strength, that’s still years of conditioning, and i feel one of her fears would be that she’d be too cold with her child. Clarke on the other hand would be scared to be too “messed up” to be a mother. So as I said, it would take a while for them to decide. But once on board… damn these two would be the most loving parents.
So…. random headcanons?
Lexa is the playful one. She has to be so strict and rigid and serious all the time because of her duties. There’s always something to worry about, something to stress over, something that fills her mind with concern at best, with anger and sorrow at worst. She doesn’t want that to taint the time she spends with her family, and these are the only moments when she’s truly free, so she doesn’t want to waste them. I’m talking pretending to be Pauna and chasing after her little girl. Fake battles with wooden swords that quickly become tickle fights. Blowing raspberries on her daughter’s neck and stomach and feet just to hear her cackle.
Clarke LOVES drawing Lexa and their daughter together. It doesn’t matter what they’re doing, she just wants to capture every single one of these moments.
Lexa reads stories to the little girl before going to sleep. Often she falls asleep there, wrapped around her child. When this happens and Clarke finds them, rarely she wakes Lexa up. It’s much more likely instead that she just grabs a fur and settles on an armchair or couch next to them and sleeps there, to stay close to her family.
Clarke often brings her daughter on top of the tower and together they look at the sky and stars and she tells stories about when she lived in space.
More often than not they let the little girl sleep with them. Clarke tries to be strict but she can only resist one pair of hearteyes, not two. And who is she kidding anyway, she loves sleeping with her girls.
They both catch themselves staring at their daughter, sleeping, playing, running around, it doesn’t matter. They look at her and wonder how is it possible that after everything they went through, after everything they did, they are blessed with this kind of happiness.

Don’t know if you’re still taking stories or what not, but here is Press asking Garga (strength and conditioning coach for thorns) where Tobin was sitting after the game. She said to I think Casey and Steph that Tobin told her to wave at her but she couldn’t find her so she went over to ask Garga where she normally sat, however guessing tobin had left to go to the locker with her team or wait for Press to come out.
LIVING. The only flaw to this story is that she knows where Tobin normally sits 😩

Medicine ball throws improve power output and incorporate movement in the transverse plane: a big ✅✅ for athletes of all sports. Use light weight (no more than 12 lbs) and focus on explosiveness. 5-6 reps per side for 3-4 sets is plenty 💪🏻

There are more connections between space and football than you may have originally thought. Here are a few examples of how…
Yes, that’s right! The International Space Station measures 357 feet end-to-end. That’s almost equivalent to the length of a football field including the end zones (360 feet).
Our Orion spacecraft is being designed to carry astronauts to deep space destinations, like Mars! It will launch atop the most powerful rocket ever built, the Space Launch System rocket. If you were to fill the Orion spacecraft with footballs instead of crew members, you would fit a total of 4,625!
We’re building the most powerful rocket ever, the Space Launch System. At its full height it will stand 384 feet – 24 feet taller than a football field is long.
An average NFL game lasts more than three hours. Traveling at 17,500 mph, the crew on the space station will see two sunrises and two sunsets in that time…they see 16 sunrises and sunsets each day!
On Mars, a football would weigh less than half a pound, while a 200-pund football player would weigh just about 75 pounds.
Talk about going long…if you threw a football to the moon at 60 mph, the average speed of an NFL pass, it would take 3,982 hours, or 166 days, to get there. The quickest trip to the moon was the New Horizons probe, which zipped pass the moon in just 8 hours 35 minutes on its way to Pluto
The longest field goal kick in NFL history is 64 yards. On Mars, at 1/3 the gravity of Earth, that same field goal, ignoring air resistance, could have been made from almost two football fields away (192 yards).
Aerodynamic drag doesn’t happen on Mars. With a very thin atmosphere and low gravity to drag the ball down, a quarterback could throw the football three times as far as he could on Earth. A receiver would have to be much further down the field to catch the throw
Football players must be quick and powerful, honing the physical skills necessary for their unique positions. In space, maintaining physical fitness is a top priority, since astronauts will lose bone and muscle mass if they do not keep up their strength and conditioning.
During football games, calling plays and relaying information from coaches on the sidelines or in the booth to players on the field is essential. Coaches communicate directly with quarterbacks and a defensive player between plays via radio frequencies. They must have a secure and reliable system that keeps their competitors from listening in and also keeps loud fan excitement from drowning out what can be heard. Likewise, reliable communication with astronauts in space and robotic spacecraft exploring far into the solar system is key to our mission success.
A radio and satellite communications network allows space station crew members to talk to the ground-based team at control centers, and for those centers to send commands to the orbital complex.

Improving shoulder function requires improving core strength. This movement tackles both of those areas! Use kettlebells or dumbbells and hold them overhead for 30-45 seconds. I don’t like to use barbells as much because of the more rigid nature of a bar. Make sure your ribs are stacked over your hips so that you’re in a stable position. If you feel yourself losing tension or shaking a lot, you probably went too heavy! Make sure you’re not holding your breath 😜
