Don’t a let a little thing like being a boy keep you from being a girl
I’m hoping that this is as “angry” as I’ll get with a comic, but given how the world is shaping up politically at the moment, I fear that might not be the case.
It’s been incredibly eye opening to witness the degree to which some people I know are willing to bury their heads in the sand in order to avoid the reality of the awful things that are happening around them. Awful things that they were told were going to happen.
In America, people are being black bagged and shipped off to El Salvador without due process to be held indefinitely in prisons, with the current administration now making social media posts cruelly boasting that they’ll never return.
Make no mistake, if people are being kidnapped by the government, given no due process, and are shipped to a foreign nation to be held in prison with no intention to give them any legal recourse, we need to call these prisons what they are:
They are death camps.
The United States of America is rounding up “undesirables” and sending them to death camps.
There are people in this country that voted for this. No matter how nice they otherwise seem or claim to be, these people are evil to the core.
There are also people who didn’t vote for this, but do provide social validation and acceptance to those who did.
If you are someone who thinks you’re against fascism, but you also accept fascists in your life, you are a fascist.
There can be no acceptance of intolerance. In the comic, the person I’m lampooning is the “Fake Trans Ally”, but you can swap out “trans” for any other group of marginalized people. Frankly, just call this person “The Fake Ally.”
If you’re someone reading this and feel attacked because I’m calling you a fake ally, it’s time to do some soul searching. When the history books are written about this period of American history, are you going to be someone who was unambiguously against hatred, or were you someone that treated hate as acceptable?
Were you someone that invited hatred into your home?
Were you someone that shared a meal with hatred?
Were you someone that allowed hatred a safe haven?
If you’re someone that does that, you yourself are hateful.
When you accept hate, you do so at the expense of those who are the target of that hatred.
Be better, our lives depend on it.
friendly reminder that intersex trans people exist and they arent your fucking business and telling us "thats impossible" when we share an experience is entirely unhelpful
im a trans woman with enough of a uterus/ovary to menstruate occasionally. "trans women cant have periods" is not only invalidating to perisex trans women/trans women who can't menstruate but still have a hormonal cycle that causes some symptoms of periods (cramps, mood swings/shifts, etc.) but also invalidates intersex trans women who do have the ability to menstruate
and i shouldnt have to hide the fact i do menstruate to be seen as "valid." i shouldnt have to hide that i used medical bias against intersex people to get my transition surgeries covered and done at a younger age. i shouldnt have to hide the fact i had to go on testosterone because my body only produces miniscule amounts of both hormones but i have severe reactions to estrogen/progesterone that fucks with my body more than testosterone while still needing some sort of sex hormone to be able to live my life normally. yes, this has given me privilege in some areas. yes, it is different from the experience of a perisex trans woman. no, this does not make me transmasc or not actually trans. i do not feel comfortable identifying as transmasc because i am not a man, and even if i was, i presented as primarily male most of my life and was percieved as such. perhaps if i'd had my "female" sex characteristics removed instead, i would identify differently, but my reality is that i live my life as a trans woman, even if i am currently indistinguishable from a cis woman and many people percieve me as such.
what the actual fuck...
you should show support for a victim more than you demosntrate hate towards an abuser. you should care more about the harm caused than the action. you should always prioritize helping someone in need over dissing a horrible person. good day
it's kind of a you problem if you read "this is a problem that also affects me" and assume it to mean "i only care about this problem because it affects me. i would not care if it only affected you"
i've seen this a lot more often in reference to anti-trans legislature recently. people acting as though only trans women will be affected by it and then getting mad at trans men and nonbinary people for daring to mention we're also negatively impacted by it
can we just have a community please. i want a community. can we not fight over who has it worse all the time and just give eachother support
Was doing some light reading, and came across this paper that reminded me of discourse from a few weeks back.
Anyone remember when that post was floating around about how "theyfab" was actually invented by transfems to make fun of trans men/enbies who use their AGAB as a shield to protect themselves against criticism? Basically leveraging "oh I'm just a female, I'm so innocent", strawman bullshit?
Then others chimed in about how it actually came from 4chan as a way to mock enbies who aren't "trans enough"?
Well, here's an actual academic source on the issue, to shove a knife in this whole argument, as I'm sure it'll pop up again:
...
Sure looks like the "transandrobros" were right once again
Straight from an actual academic paper
"Theyfab" is infact 4chan lingo made to shit on people "not doing trans right" and isn't some transfem counter culture buzzword like some people claim it to be
I love my trans bf so seeing a blog populated by the most based takes ever that involve trans men makes me happy :3
Keep spitting facts my dear warrior
Aw, thanks! I love my trans wife and my trans friends. I want this community to feel welcoming for all of them.
If you claim to support trans rights, but deny transandrophobia, you don't actually support trans rights any more than a TERF supports trans rights.
isnt it fucked that we still have to remind people that yes, misogyny is still misogyny when it's aimed at trans men and transmascs.
