One thing I truly love about being an Entomology nerd, is nobody can ever get reasonably mad at me for not knowing what a bug is! There’s no way I can reasonably know every single bug in the world, that’s just not feasible!

And even better- that ALSO means I get to spend the REST OF MY LIFE learning about bugs! I get the joy of learning about new ones all the time, forever! It’s so awesome!! It also ALSO means I can easily divert my punk desire to better the world into insect conservation, which is super important for the earths continued existence!! And caring about little critters that most people find disgusting is frankly SUPER punk! I fucking love bugs!

Can we boost this one until it reaches the Oklahoma City Tumblrites? This seems like something this website could rally and solve. Help save all this genetic information? I messaged them to offer to consult with the entymology lab near mine to see if they could store the bugs with us, but they are VERY far away and would have to drive long distance to us.

UPDATE: Based on people's stories in the comments, the guy behind the project is a misogynist wad who has burnt every bridge in the city, and that's why no one will help him. I understand everyone who does not want to help him, but I'm still not sure what to do about the bugs because I hate to give a dumpster fire of a science man a pass to get places in life without being made to character develop, but he also seems to be in charge of resources that if lost, would be a loss to an entire field and not just him. :/

I was scrolling through Instagram, looking for some silly memes to post in my story. So, since I love bugs, the algorithm thought it would be a good idea to recommend me a video of some dickhead spraying a small nest of paper wasps with insulation foam just for some internet fame. I am just sitting here asking myself, "How can someone be so cruel to other living creatures?"

Look, I do pest control myself (I kill spotted lanternflies, spray for ants if they are infesting the house, etc.), but I would never go out of my way to purposely torture a living creature. What the man was doing was not for pest control, he was going out of his way to be cruel just to create a shitty meme.

I can understand having phobias, and I respect that, but if you go out of your way to torture a living creature, especially for some stupid Tik Tok or whatever, then you are an asshole.
