Abbott's Sphinx Moth: this caterpillar has a false eye on its rump; it mimics the features of a vertebrate's eye, and even includes a white reflection spot
The formal name for this species is Sphecodina abbottii.
From Minnesota Seasons:
The caterpillar is up to 3β³Β (7.5 cm) long. Middle stage (instar) caterpillars are whitish to bluish-green. In place of the horn found on other sphinx caterpillars, there is a raised orange knob on the eighth abdominal segment (A8). Final instar caterpillars come in two color forms. The brown color form has longitudinal streaks of light and dark brown mimicking the color of a woody vine. The green form has on each abdominal segment a large, pale green, saddle-shaped spot on the upper side and a similar smaller spot on each side. The pattern is said to mimic a bunch of unripe grapes. Both forms have a black, raised, eye-like knob on A8 complete with a small white spot mimicking reflected light.
When the caterpillar is pinched or poked, it often squeaks and bites at the attacker.
The fully-developed moth also has a unique appearance -- it has an ash-grey/blue coloration with streaks of pink and black.

Very cool grasshopper I saw on a hike :)
yall we got a roach in the bathroom (mom thinks theyre coming from the pipes) and tell me why when i came home from my driving lesson, i wanted to wash my hands (covid has instilled washing your hands immediately when you come home in me) so i opened the bathroom door, turned on the light, and saw the roach RUNNING from the toilet to back under the washing machine where it hides π
i was spooked but then calmed down and found how it moved so funny π
wish i was able to take a picture but the two times i saw it i didnt bring my phone with me
i have an odd fascination with bugs. i love to look at them but sudden movement from them makes me scared bc the way they move is always so funny/odd to me
I got some isopods at a reptile convention yesterday π theyβre spiky pineapples (Cristarmadillidium muricatum) and theyβre very cute. Like yes rolly poly you are soooo intimidating with your tiny little spikes. I definitely will not eat you because I feel so threatened.

eheheee what if bugs were cars (pillbug car/rolypoly car above) once a rolypoly peed on me in like 1st grade and it just kept going until i threw it and cried cuz i had pee on my hand and i thought it died cuz i threw it so i was just there crying and trying to rat out a tiny ahh bug to my teacher-
