college au where regulus is absolutely awful at math and goes to the library every day trying to study with no success.
one day, after a coffee break, he goes back to his desk only to find mocking and kinda flirty notes (but with the right answers!) all over his books. this thing keeps happening at least twice a week and every time the notes are more flirtatious and regulus will never admit it but he likes it a bit too much.
so he starts writing short answers on his own book, effectively starting a very non conventional conversation with the mysterious person who keeps entertaining him.
imagine his surprise when one day during his break the coffee shop is closed and he goes back to the library only to find soccer team captain james potter writing on his book with a minecraft pencil.
James: I'm in love
Sirius: Yeah? Who?
James: He has beautiful, gray eyes, and curls wow, I feel like I faint when he speaks French
Sirius:...
James: Well, I must go, stay here my love.
Sirius:...
Remus: Hey, are u done using that book?
Sirius: JAMES IS IN LOVE WITH ME
Remus: wha...?
Sirius: I mean... I'm irresistible, but Moony, I'm yours... I'll have to refuse him...

ive found that partially treated mental illness can sometimes look to uninvolved onlookers like faked mental illness.
James and Regulus exchanged gifts today. James’ one was a ring and for a second Regulus felt the anxiety climb up to his chest, until he saw it was just a quartz ring.
He gets so shocked when he notices that among the other things, he feels disappointment at the realization.
This issue will obviously require some extra sessions with his therapist to be unpacked and sirius will have to observe his brother in a state of absolute shock for at least 4-5 business days.
When a shaky “I’d like to marry if it’s James” leaves Regulus’ lips in the middle of the night while they’re binging Grey’s Anatomy, Sirius almost thinks he heard it wrong.
Then he actually registers the words and he doesn’t comment because he knows that’s not what Regulus needs or wants, but he just can’t stop smiling for the rest of the night.
