I genuinely do not understand how people think Rhaenyra wasn't usurped because she was a woman.

What quality does Aegon have that Rhaenyra doesn't aside from being a son?

Rhaenyra is older, and therefore more experienced. Has been the Princess of Dragonstone since she was EIGHT. Took hold and started ruling since SIXTEEN. She knows more about governing than the rest of her four half siblings combined. She has been her father, the King's cupbearer since before being named heir. Has followed her father almost everywhere since he became king. Attended meeting and counsels and all of the things relating to governorship.

Aegon had a princely tutorship, but what else? This man spent his adult(and teen) life in the streets of silk. Aside from his basic education as a prince, what else does he know? Viserys wasn't going to bother, since Aegon isn't even the second in line to the throne, it is Jace, has been since Aegon was 7. Otto wasn't even present till Aegon was atleast 13. Alicent wasn't an active ruler or decision maker like Alysanne was, so obviously not her either.

It wasn't for the lack of supporters either. Out of the six great houses of Westeros, Stark, Arryn, Tully, Lannister, Baratheon, Tyrell, THREE supported her. TWO supported Aegon. ONE, the Tyrells remained neutral, simply because most of their bannermen supported the greens. She was more loved and known throughout the realm.

The desperation of Viserra to jump into her brother’s bed always makes me so sad.

I always question where this idea comes from of Targaryen women having so much “power” before the dance comes from.

This girl was praying her brother would who took one sister would surely find another desirable as well and save her from an unwanted marriage.

She wasn’t seeking Baelon to protect her as a brother, or as a friend who would understand her plight.

This wasn’t a Sansa or Arya Stark situation longing for their older brothers Robb or Jon to save and avenge them.

No Viserra went to Baelon’s bed naked hoping he would “desire” her and thus save her from an unwanted marriage.

This incident is framed as 15 year old Viserra attempting to beguile Prince Baelon out of lust for power.

However it ignores that Viserra is SO drunk when she waits in Baelon’s bed that she needs two maids and a knight to help her back to her room when Baelon rejects her.

Targaryen family dynamics are so twisted and deranged!!!!

After that fanfic shitshow came out, the illiterate people who genuinely can't comprehend or grasp the littlest of things in this fandom have SKYROCKETED.

The way some people would rather die than admit this, IT WAS THE GREENS THAT STARTED THE WAR, NOT THE BLACKS.

Even if you count usurpation a reclaiming of birthright rather than a declaration of war, it would still be the greens that started the war.

Not the event of Blood & Cheese. Not Daemon. And certainly Rhaenyra.

Both Alicent and Otto are recorded as being of the consequences that will soon follow. The usurper thought this was “a good beginning.” Even throwing Aemond a great feast for killing a child.

The way some broccoli people are so in denial.... Rhaenyra being arrogant and not bending the caused the war? Daemon, Mysaria and Blood & Cheese caused the war? Please stut tf up🙏🤦‍♀️
