Something that I was thinking about here, because at first glance when I was reading this I was like ok Dazai's just being a little shit yknow average Dazai.

But the more I looked into it, the more I thought about something. Before this, Chuuya is like oh we need to think of a plan right? And we later find out that Dazai was already putting his plan in motion with this conversation. We all know that Dazai LOVES to be cryptic and hide messages within his jokes and offhanded comments, so what if this was Dazai saying that "Don't worry, everything is already being handled."

And Chuuya's "Nobody would believe that shit" (the fact that Dazai is human), is Chuuya's way of forcing Dazai to be real. Not in a sense of "oh be realistic," but almost in a sense of "don't detach yourself."

Chuuya forces Dazai to be real. Dazai forces Chuuya to think beyond brute force with his cryptic messages and plans.

Or maybe I'm overthinking this...who knows?

Sometimes, I feel like this painting isn't talked about enough. A painting by Francesco Hayez, depicting two young people in a moment of tenderness and comfort. A goodbye kiss, full of sweetness and pure love. The way their lips touch each other gives a sense of infinite kindness and delicacy and the way he holds her face shows a care that words can't describe. This painting contains all the sweetness, intimacy and love that two people can feel and, if I'm not being too obvious or sappy, I really wish my first kiss was like this.
