AS A PERSON MAJORING IN THE OLD TESTAMENT --
This is a really good observation! Haven't thought of it myself but it makes sense. Eve is also blamed throughout Genesis for the original sin heavily, whole people don't take into account Adam's autonomy in consuming the fruit. I actually think their roles are opposite - Camilla resembles Adam way more than Eve and Charles is similar to Eve. Charles is way more vocal and active in the group's activities while Camilla is very much a part of the bacchanal and such but is more reserved and manipulative. Camilla is also hinted to blame Charles behind his back to Henry for multitudes of things, which correspondences with Adam blaming Eve for the original sin.
Sorry if my English is rusty, I read Genesis in Hebrew so maybe my texts are different from the translations.
Bruh—am I stupid, did everyone catch this or am I smart? Idfk, but…Charles and Camilla… prettttyyy sure they’re symbolic of Adam and Eve. The orphaned—“parentless”—incestuous twins makes sense now. Thanks philosophy and religious studies.
(Eve is made from the rib of Adam=sort of like the “twin of him”. Explains some of her nature too.)
absolutely agree. I'd like to add that the way Richard writes about his experience in Hampden years after his departure shows how utterly obsessive he is. Just the fact TSH exists, and that it's a 'memoir' of Richard proves how unfathomably shallow and beauty obsessed he really is.
Still love him though <3
For me, the saddest thing about the ending of tsh is not the fact that two people literally died, but the fact that after all the effort Richard put into being accepted into a friendgroup he was still all alone in the end.
that bitter feeling of loneliness utterly crushed me.
I have recently started to become more ecologically conscious in my everyday life - eating out less, buying less, using more of the possessions I already own, etc... - and that includes shopping for clothes in second hand shops. And I am ASTONISHED at how many well kept, good quality pieces are simply lying around at some dim lit room downtown. Honestly, I urge everyone reading this to go to the worst rated second hand shop in their area. Avoid the trendy ones, go for the ones with 70 year old witches who'll smoke a whole pack inside the store in the hour you'll spend there. The true gems lie there.
Stay yourself, stay curious.
My phone charger stopped working a month ago, and so I had the misfortune of having to buy a new one. It doesn't have a headphone port. I wasn't even considering the POSSIBILITY of a phone not having a headphone port, so now I have to go to settings and activate OTG everytime I want to use headphones, because I believe Bluetooth is demonic witchcraft and refuse to participate in that debauchery.
Just so blatantly evil when they took the headphone port out of the phones to force people into getting Bluetooth earbuds like we let them do that to us and no one was jailed or murdered for it? What is wrong with us
Consuming depressing media for me is more of a learning experience and less something I indulge in to associate myself with the characters... I learn from their faults and take with me their experiences. I hope this helped.
I have a question for people who read Russian literature and are happy.
How the fuck do you do this
I have been toying with the idea of writing a novel, mainly for my own enjoyment and feeling of accomplishment, but I am quite worried it'll turn out too similar to TSH ... I would like to tackle themes of obsession with image and social prestige, but I've seen many works of fiction you can tell were influenced a bit too much by Tartt's work.. if anyone has any tips to help prevent this affect, that'll be appreciated.
Have you ever read such a good book and been so disappointed that there was nothing else like it that you start writing your own? Because that’s what I feel like doing after finishing all of Donna Tartt’s novels.
Niche but Irina from "three sisters" by Anton Chekhov???
Just clearing any confusion - this is not a safe space for pro ana accounts. As a person struggling with an ED, my blog will NEVER tolerate the romanticization and normalization of any type of ED. Mental illness is not to be desired, it's awful, and it does not make a person anything other than miserable.
Stay YOURSELF. Stay curious
The Torah is hilarious because one moment you read a passage illustrating how the upcoming king is the best person to ever walk the earth, and a couple chapters in he is starting a civil war because his soldier is more popular than him. (I'm talking about Shaul)
