Reread the last chapter of worlds without princes (book 2) and wHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT??!? What a messy rollercoaster and idk if i wanted to know what led to that point.
Tristan/Yara dying, Tedros tried to kiss Filip/Sophie, Agatha caught them- agatha sophie fighting- sophie reveal- TEDROS FEELING BETRAYED AND GOING TO AGATHA AND ALL OF A SUDDEN "OH I LOVE YOU MY PRINCESS ITS ALWAYS BEEN YOU-" LIKE YOU DIDN'T JUST TRIED TO KISS SOPHIE?!?
GOD AND THE AFTERMATH- oh my god its awful its disgusting- first sophie getting betrayed, THEN KISSING HER MOTHER?!?!?!??!???? HER DECEASED MOTHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THEN THE FUCKING SCHOOL MASTER SHOWS UP OUGGHHH THIS AWFUL WRETCHED VILE DISGUSTING
Now that im older and reread the scene,,, this whole sequence is more fucked up- Sophie crashing out in book 3 is so justified bro id go batshit insane too if that happened to me
No wonder i erased this from my memory, and i wish i never revisited it, this is godawful
happy one year anniversary to the most insane week in internet history
One of you will fail. One of you will die. And one of you is already dead.
One of you will fail. One of you will die. And one of you is already dead.
do you ever wonder about the function of academic subjects in SGE? like: how does studying literature work if their stories are limited to actual, real-life fairy tales? do people even write fiction (also applies to gavaldon. are their only stories the ones in the fairytales. that's so sad)? is studying literature equivalent to studying history?
and yes, in the school for good and evil, it must be important to learn the practical skills: how to use magic and conduct yourself and stay alive. but what about critical thinking?
ANYWAY. this is my segway into the AU where august sader starts teaching media literacy, gets the students to question the stories, the system & the school master [basically what sophie & agatha do in the first book. good and evil as friends; as equals. but done by an Actual Adult], and overturns the underlying beliefs that govern the world of SGE.
also: inclusive education. i have a lot of thoughts about sader as a blind student during his school days, and how that shapes his teaching philosophy.
also: good teachers!! i similarly have a lot of thoughts about how sader must genuinely love history & how he might enable his students to do the same.
then u remember the lil teeny fact that arthur was coronated before he got to school for good and evil. I mean sure, he's prolly 16 at the time but- what stopped tedros? lololol
This is the most specific of nitpicks but like.... Tedros WAS king the entire time. Like all 6 books, not even just 4/5/6. the reason they say "the king is dead, long live the king" is bc the second the old king dies the heir immediately ascends to the throne. Camelot can't NOT have a King for 7 years, Tedros was absolutely King, he just wasn't coronated. honestly the more you think abt the entire Camelot thing the more it makes no sense. He should have had a lord protector or a council or smth to rule in his stead but he can't be a prince; they can call him a prince all they like but he's just not. He ceased to be a prince the second Arthur popped his clogs,,, coronations are just a formality rly
"I'll be king when I'm 16" babes you're king right this second did no one tell you that
"You want me to be the bad guy? Fine, I'll be the bad guy"

This scene cemented that Call will never be Constantine. His reaction to Aaron's death isn't what you would expect from The Enemy of Death.
This sketch is a what if scenario where Call reacts just like Constantine. Where he loses control because of grief, and anguish.
Instead of helping him, they condemn him for something out of his control, for something he didn't do. Well, If that's what they want to believe, then Call will be The Enemy.
âLiving weaponâ covers a lot and all of it is hot
I hope this helps anyone who's trying to design their oc using a wheelchair, it's not a complete guide but I tried my best! deffo do more research if you're writing them as a character
Surprisingly, this started in Book 1.Â
My first thought when I was introduced to Agatha was: I would not be friends with her.Â
Like, okay, youâre goth and edgy and ugly and different. Thatâs cool. But,Â
Clearly, Sophie wants to become a princess and have a fairytale. Thatâs all sheâs ever dreamed of, itâs in the first chapter. And Agatha wants a normal life in Gavaldon, which is understandable.Â
So, she tries to âsaveâ Sophie from being taken by the School Master. But the way I see it, Agatha is clinging on to Sophie because sheâs the only friend that sheâll ever have, and if she leaves, Agatha will have nothing. Agatha even SAYS that Sophie is the only one who makes her feel accepted.Â
This turns out to be a theme for the rest of the plot: Agatha wants her old life back with her friend. She even achieves that at the end, kind of. I donât have a problem with that, you know? However, itâs not like Sophie was the darling of Gavaldon and her popularity transfers to Agatha in their friendship. Radley points out that Sophie is hanging out with a witch, so Agatha still has the same reputation.Â
So, Agatha just plans on living the rest of her life as an outcast? Sophie makes her FEEL normal. Sheâs not actually normal in Gavaldon terms. In fact, sheâd probably be scapegoated for a famine or wildfire or kidnapping the children, and then sentenced to death by The Elders.Â
When she gets to SGE, she wants to return home⊠for WHAT? Sure, the students at School for Good tease you (and this time, you donât have Sophie to back you up), and the teachers donât have much faith in you.  I know what it feels like to be alone and doubted by everyone. Still though, this is a magical school, and Agatha can learn magic. Literally who would turn that down? Granted, Ever Girl classes are about beauty and grace, two things Agatha would fail in, but she is so smart.  If she focused on magic and spells and put her mind to it, she could easily become powerful. Just talk to Dovey, talk to August Sader, ask them about improving your skills beyond posture or smiling (also this couldâve been an amazing opportunity for Agatha to have scenes with her so-called mentors, but no, she speaks two words to them, they wink at her knowingly and when they die, weâre supposed to cry? Bullshit.)Â
Agatha has shown that sheâs badass already. Why not become more powerful and prove the Ever Girls wrong? Instead, she wants Sophie to kiss Tedros so they can resume their friendship in Gavaldon.Â
By the way, neither girl LIKES their school. Thatâs why Sophie was convinced to go to the School Master. She was like, damn, if we canât switch schools and I canât go to the Snow Ball, whatâs the point? Fine, Iâll settle for Agatha.Â
I donât know, I think Agatha was selfish in holding back Sophie. Just let her flirt with Tedros, whatâs so hard about that? Oh, you feel inadequate because youâve lost Sophieâs attention? Grow a backbone (yes, I know thatâs the point of the book).Â
Anyways, if you only saw through Sophie in the beginning, you would have known that the faster Sophie chases after her fairytale, the faster sheâll fail and put it to rest (after a world-ending tantrum, but it wouldâve cut the page count in half. So I donât need to read this much boy drama).Â
Everyone raves about this damn scene. Agatha becomes confident, yay! Inspiring to young girls everywhere. Thatâs established. Letâs move on.Â
SGE is about subverting expectations, appearances vs reality, friends vs love. We know that. Except Agatha is justâŠÂ
When Agatha became âprettyâ, and then realized her inner beauty shines past her looks, I thought she would KNOCK BITCHES DOWN. I was rooting for her. I thought sheâd finally put Sophie in her place.Â
This was destroyed when Agatha became like the Ever Girls she hated for the first part of the book. She develops a crush on Tedros, which was the defining feature of the Ever Girls: liking boys. Nothing wrong with that, it was just out of place. I understand that Tedros might have caught feelings after Agatha saves his life, thatâs a trope weâre familiar with and it makes sense.Â
What doesnât, is that Agatha reciprocates? Sheâs been grossed out by boys the whole book, what makes Tedros different? Literally what switch flipped in her brain. That sheâs worthy of love? Girl, if youâre âconfidentâ now and suddenly dating a boy that you never genuinely got to know⊠Also, was Tagatha even considered a relationship? They donât hang out until TLEA. I feel like Agatha was just excited to have a guy like her for once. They call each other âtrue loveâ based on what? We BEEN KNEW Tedros is dumb (okay, you picked her in all the challenges, thatâs not real proof), and Agatha, do you even know his last name?Â
^ if anyoneâs watched the Witcher, Yennefer is very similar to Agatha and she gains her physical beauty after sheâs finished with her training as a mage. Also, Yennefer is dating a hot guy with authority WHILE sheâs still ugly. Love that for her. (This situation is different because Yennefer is morally grey, maybe evil, but I like this arc better than Agathaâs).
This started when I noticed on Goodreads that some people genuinely thought Agatha was lesbian. (Me being me, this went over my head). Â
Like, okay I get it, Agatha MIGHT be a simp for Sophie. I do kinda get it.Â
Throughout the book, Agatha repeatedly is there for Sophie even when Sophie treats her like shit (I donât have to explain each example, right? We been knew.)
What stands out to me most was when 1. she literally turned into a cockroach and stayed up all night for weeks to help Sophie study 2. cheated and guided her in the Trial By Tale  (risking her life several times in the process).Â
That wasnât because she had a Good heart (though it contributed). It was because Agatha wanted to protect Sophie.Â
The only reason I didnât include all the times Agatha helped Sophie make Tedros fall in love with her was because she thought that Sophieâs kiss would send them back home, so that was theoretically for her own benefit (although we know that Sophie was just using Agatha).Â
Also, I distinctly remember Sophie having a Regina George moment with Agatha where she was like âwhy are you so obsessed with me?!â. Because Agatha was being all âđđđ»đđ» weâre friendsâ and Sophie was like GET YOUR OWN LIFE YOUâRE RUINING MINE!!!Â
This is irrelevant, when you come for me donât mention this part because Iâm not all that pressed.Â
Agatha comes off as Not Like Other Girls. She says that everyone at School for Good are stupid/shallow RIGHT OFF THE BAT. Obviously Beatrix didnât make a good impression, but come on.Â
She hates that all the girls are obsessed with boys and looks. Just because youâre not interested doesnât mean others canât be. It came up several times and I was so irritated. Not to mention that Sophie was basically a carbon copy of Beatrix except that sheâs nice to her.Â
This is extremely SJW of me but I had to say it. Sophie is a typical bratty blonde. Agatha is said to be hideous, then finds out she was beautiful all along. I felt like this wouldâve been better if Agatha had Real unconventional features.Â
Sheâs tall, skinny and pale with big eyes. That is a textbook runway model and fits Eurocentric beauty standards. Itâs not like making Agatha fat, short, and dark-skinned with acne is going to enhance the book, although it would be so, so nice. Â
Might be editing this later on! I donât know!
Disclaimer: Agathaâs still a good character, I still like reading about her.Â
