Curate, connect, and discover
Reread the last chapter of worlds without princes (book 2) and wHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT??!? What a messy rollercoaster and idk if i wanted to know what led to that point.
Tristan/Yara dying, Tedros tried to kiss Filip/Sophie, Agatha caught them- agatha sophie fighting- sophie reveal- TEDROS FEELING BETRAYED AND GOING TO AGATHA AND ALL OF A SUDDEN "OH I LOVE YOU MY PRINCESS ITS ALWAYS BEEN YOU-" LIKE YOU DIDN'T JUST TRIED TO KISS SOPHIE?!?
GOD AND THE AFTERMATH- oh my god its awful its disgusting- first sophie getting betrayed, THEN KISSING HER MOTHER?!?!?!??!???? HER DECEASED MOTHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THEN THE FUCKING SCHOOL MASTER SHOWS UP OUGGHHH THIS AWFUL WRETCHED VILE DISGUSTING
Now that im older and reread the scene,,, this whole sequence is more fucked up- Sophie crashing out in book 3 is so justified bro id go batshit insane too if that happened to me
No wonder i erased this from my memory, and i wish i never revisited it, this is godawful
Oughh its hard to brainrot aus for sge when i forgot most of the plot of book 2 & 3
And i really really dont want to reread book 2
Was looking through my old art and saw this
if i remember correctly it was from a UAAP game a couple years ago, i dont know if the couple is still together lmao
BUT MAN THEYR SO 👹👹😭😭🫶💕💕‼️✨💕
SGE Little Mermaid!AU
Sophie wants to become human and explore the world and fall in love with a prince. And Agatha is her Sea Witch best friend. She begged agatha to make a spell that would turn her tail into legs. Agatha found one, but at the exchange of sophie's voice, and the kiss of true love before the third day ends.
Then Sophie meets Tedros, shenanigans ensues where agatha stuck by Sophie's side and helps her as much as she can.
,,,
All of that to say Kiss the Girl is literally cockroach!agatha wingman sophie to tedros.
I don't know how this will end so
In my head, it's the event itself. Agatha was meant to be in Good, and Sophie meant to be in Evil. And i wanted to explore that dynamic if they switch to the wrong schools.
Like- sure, Sophie would definitely ace those princess classes. But what about good deeds with Prof. Dovey. Or Sophie's relationships with other Ever students. I like to believe that ever students, as shallow as they seem, are still pretty good people. To show that Sophie shares some similarities with the other Ever students, but theres something not quite right with it.
Same goes with Agatha, fitting the look and excelling in the Never role, but also not enough.
Also- the concept that the SGE movie did pretty well, "I don't believe anyone is truly good or truly evil. But i know sophie wants to be good... And that should be good enough" The idea of character development for sophie. I mean, in book 1 it shows that at first sophie is doing good deeds out of selfish reasons, and later did a true act of good by saving agatha at the end. So its possible??
And maybe Nature vs Nurture concept, are the Nevers truly evil or were they raised that way? Because c'mon how did they keep losing for almost 200 years unless they aren't fully evil or smth idk idkk
It's interesting to think about the scenario where they realize their true nature in the wrong schools. And how that would affect the rest of the story.
---
Sorry about the rambling and messy thought process. This has been in my head for literal years now. Just hadn't had the chance to flesh it out.
But at the end of the day, this is also my self-indulgent Never!Agatha AU. And im giving book 1!tophie dynamic to this AUs tagatha, but its not doomed/JJ
What if the switch in the bridge was successful?
If you ask me back then what I wouldve done with this AU? It's too Tagatha indulgent LMAOO
I would've kept the by gender tributes, with agatha competing and sophie staying at home (sophie being gale in this au).
And tagatha,, would've been pEAK star crossed lovers, agatha from district 12 and tedros being a career tribute, falling in love in the middle of the arena,, oouuhhh
I also had plans for sophie, somewhat,, i was thinking that sophie would be ambitious and delusional enough to volunteer and believe that she would win the games. Because she wanted the fame and glamour and riches of what victors received. So when agatha volunteered for her, reality sets in her that the games are dangerous and that she could've died.
But watching agatha in the games, watching her survive, fall in love, and win. It fuels sophie full of anger and jealousy- how dare agatha take this from her, to get the glory and the fame. It should've been sophie who went to the games, it should've been her in those interviews, parades, and parties with gorgeous dresses, fantastic food, and meeting new people.
Anyway back to tagatha, i think agatha was helping another younger tribute the same way katniss was taking care of rue, and tedros sees this, made him reevaluate agatha- and that's started their allyship in the games. Maybe it wasn't full-on romance, but their chemistry got the capitol hooked. Ouh then after the games, they see each other again during their campaign- but knowing that they would probably not see each other again after it. Ooouugghhh.
After all that yap, idk what else lmao. I don't know what to do with the revolution part.
Movie!SGE - Hunger Games AU
These are old sketches and comic wips from 2023(?). I really like agatha and sophie's personalities and relationship in the movie. I think it fits more with hunger games AU than book!sge.
While both book and movie agathas are protective of sophie, movie!agatha being outspoken about her beliefs and actively challenging the status quo makes me think that movie!agatha is more fitting as katniss.
As for sophie, while both ambitious and wants something more in their life, also a bit delusional too. Movie!sophie feels more like a normal teenage girl with dreams, while dealing with a new environment. A little more selfish and vain- but a healthy amount of fear for their life. Book!sophie is a lot more comical in terms of villainous attitude that it's a bit hard to imagine her in a survival game setting. (I know both sophies faced the trial by tale, i still prefer movie!sophie in hunger games AU)
If we disregard the by gender tributes in each district, Sophie and Agatha can both compete in the games, with agatha volunteering to stay with sophie.
I think Tedros could be a career tribute actually...
With all that said, I'm not sure how to go through with this AU, or how to end it. That's probably why i never posted it back then.
I would love to hear ideas with people, brainrot together LMAOO

End of movie thoughts
They both liked the movie, they had fun!
Kudos to the production team of the movie, from set design, costume, cgi, lighting, and casting.
Especially the choreography, the fight scenes are so well done and hyped.
The writing is a bit lackluster, but they think if given more time or lessen screentime from the school master scenes, the movie could've been better.
Overall, it was good, probably 4 stars, 7/10,
Making my siblings watch the sge movie, and 10 minutes in my older sister already hates it LMAOO

Thank you for sharing!! This has been consuming my brain ever since i saw you post it. So many possibilities with this concept.
The parallels with their parents are so interesting too! Because it really does seem like sophie and tedros are repeating their parents mistakes.
Like- sophie trapping tedros in the relationship. Threatening to go back to evil if tedros leaves her, possibly even babytrapping just like vanessa did?
Or maybe tedros wanting to pull a guinevere on sophie and elope with agatha
When you decide to write the fic or not, thank you for sharing your ideas! Looking forward to your future works!
- also would be ok if its ok to make my own take of the concept too? Just to be sure :'DD!
Hii! Your what if scenario fic idea of "tedros and sophie getting married and being miserable" is so interesting! And I'm just wondering if you have more to share about it because I'm invested lmao (no pressure tho!)
Yes!!!
I always thought about what would have happened if Tedros fell to Sophie's manipulation in book 3. The whole "you need a strong queen, one who can handle it" shit, so yeah, we'll go from that.
I didn't decide yet if I am going to write it (probably will), but if it happens, I wanted to explore the parallels between Agatha, Sophie and Tedros, Arthur, Guinevere and Lancelot, Stephan, Honora and Vanessa.
Sophie's and Tedros's marriage would be *hell* for both of them. Tedros would remind remind her of Stephan, because he is still in love with Agatha (although didn't marry her because he's STUPID)
Sophie would remind him of both his parents. Emotionally distant, irritable, irresponsible, triggering about the worst parts of his father.
At the same time, he can't help but be reminded of his mother... Because, I'm pretty sure Sophie would be unfaithful...
I hope any I said made any sense, sorry if It was hard to understand, english is not my first language.
Oh, and Camelot's political scenario would be in (even more) in shambles.
I'm glad to see other people interested in the idea!!! Thanks for asking!!
Trying to draw sophie as sabrina just ends up looking like sabrina fanart 😭😭😭
Taste - literally the whole plot of school for good and evil
Please please please - mv where sophie gets the ick
Sophie would really love Sabrina Carpenter, would even go as far and say Sabrina IS Sophie
rip sophie of woods beyond you would have loved sabrina carpenter
Whoever is dragonfey and lotrelf in ao3, giving them a little smooch because i love 'pure ordinary' and 'if i had a choice'
The premise of agatha and sophie being raised together and how that affects their relationship and experience in the school for good and evil, has been in my head for years and its so nice to see fics with that premise
Thank you authors, backbone of our fandom fr

Pure Ordinary
If I Had A Choice
Very quick sketch about how I think Agatha might have looked like (during the beginning of book 1).
Wanted to make her hair extra choppy and thin, since I headcanon her as being a very anxious mess, and with self-esteem so low she doesn't care about her hair.
Basically, she has the bad, bad habit of brushing her hair with force (ends up breaking it and It thins out her hair), and no vanity to take proper care.
When it gets too long to be practical (in her opinion) she just chops it off with whatever.
Anyways, probably going to draw her in more detail soon??? Dunno? If my hands comply
Missing my queen,, oh her radiance, her grace,,, Agatha of Gavaldon how i miss you
(AU where the tale of sophie & agatha ends with the first book, rafal never stored his soul with evelyn, and sophie & agatha return to the school afterwards)
Not many people attend the funeral.
A few of Professor Sader's former students do, which is surprising. They're all historians and academics and authors, and they burn miniature copies of their books for him, raised dots shining on the paper. Some of them are familiar with the School for Good's vast grounds; some, those who were Never students, are not. But they close ranks like it doesn't matter at all.
Agatha learns, from Professor Dovey, that Professor Sader was a much more involved teacher before them. To Evers and Nevers alike. He'd distanced himself from their year; probably because he knew what was coming next. She sniffles a little as she says it.
Professor Sader's two older brothers are both there; both must be seventy at the least. The oldest, January, burns drawing paper and fine sets of paint, his face desolate. He speaks of Professor Sader like he raised his younger brother, and from what Professor Dovey says he practically did. How it must hurt, for your brother to leave you behind one final time.
His husband Matthew drops a stack of notes into the flames, the familiar dots glittering on the surface. He'll place a hand on Agatha's shoulder, later, and thank her for coming; tell her that Professor Sader was waiting for her, all this while. January will turn away, so Agatha doesn't have to see him cry.
July is the second brother, and he lingers a distance away from the casket. He doesn't burn anything, but he does step closer— just for a second— and whisper something Agatha doesn't want to hear.
Professor Sader has a sister, too. A half-sister. Her name is Evelyn, and Professor Dovey speaks of her with a quiet exhaustion. She taught at the School once. She doesn't return: not to see her brothers, not to say goodbye.
But one of her sons does. Rhian, he says softly when Professor Dovey asks. He looks very much like Professor Sader did; maybe that's why the adults can't bear to look at him, at the Sader who still has his whole life ahead of him. He never knew his uncle. January sent them the invitation anyway. His twin brother Japeth hadn't seen the need to go; but Rhian had always wanted a family.
The Sader brothers are kind to him. But they don't look at him. He goes to stand next to Agatha instead, like some odd pair of cousins. She doesn't object.
Who else? Not even the faculty attend. Most of them made no secret that they thought him insane. There's Professor Dovey, of course, and Lady Lesso by her side, for once silent. They each burn little paper models of houses: Professor Dovey's is a model of his rooms in the School, and Lady Lesso's is a replica of the Library of Virtue.
Then there's Callis. Agatha hadn't even known they knew each other. But she received an invitation from January, along with Agatha's, and their whole twisting story had come out. Their mutual respect, as researchers, as academics. Their friendship. The way Professor Sader had saved Callis' life, given her a way out of the Woods, just as he'd saved Agatha's. Just as he'd saved the School. Callis burns him paper clovers, the smoke reflecting in her gaze, curling up into the distant sky.
And Agatha rounds it off. She hadn't known Professor Sader, not really. But he'd known her. He'd cared.
He might have been something like a father to her, in some other life.
Just not this one.
She burns her copy of The Tale of Sophie and Agatha for him. She'd transcribed it, with Callis' help, into those patterns of raised dots. Professor Sader had never gotten to read it. He'd given his life for it. She thinks he's owed at least this much.
Thank you, she says quietly to him, as the smoke rises. She hopes that he can hear. She'll make sure people remember that it's his story, too.
What if the switch in the bridge was successful?
I'm sobbing "any remaining fans"
Stay strong guys 😭😭
uuueeeueuue i miss sge,,, uuuuueeeueuue book never!agatha brainrot
OH THIS IS BANGERRRRRR WOWOWOWOWOWWWW
...the only way out is through a fairy tale.
please do not repost on other sites!!!
i wonder how many times the school for good has had "survival dates" at the snow ball where the boy and girl involved have zero romantic interest in each other, maybe even barely know each other's names, but she's desperate to not be failed out of her life for either being a social outcast or just not being interested in romance and as such would accept an invitation from anyone by this point, meanwhile he also either can't find a ball date or doesn't care about romance, but either can't afford to take half credit without being turned into an animal which he doesn't want, or he's too good a person to let her be failed even though he's not actually interested in her and would do this for just about any girl, so they agree to go to the ball together and then go their separate ways afterwards
For me personally, i just lost energy to participate, but i didnt expect everyone to disappear as well 😭😭😭
Some things comes to mind why it became inactive:
- book 6 and the movie. I genuinely thought that sge ended in book 3, surprise surprise theres more books. The release of book 6 felt like an end to an era. The conclusion to everything in sge. Fans can now rest easy now that the story is officially finished.
Then the movie came out, more content for us to rave over! A sense of nostalgia and excitement for the adaptation. Our favourite characters came to life!! Wow!!
The official ending of the series and a live action adaptation of it basically fulfilled what the fans could ever want. Its done, what else could we want?
- rise and fall of sge (i spoke too soon). Ill admit that i havent read it nor plan to read it, but for me personally it felt like milking the series till its dry. And with soman's track record with tcy, surely u can guess why others(me) wont read rfsge. I'm content with how sge ended and perfectly fine not knowing what happened in the prequel (this also applies to other sge related stuff that soman plans to release, like bro, enough, start a new one or smth let sge go/JJJ)
- the saddest but most realistic reason,, the fans grew up. Most of us read sge when we were younger, probably middle school or high school. Years has passed, we're mostly in college or graduated. We're either too busy to participate in the fandom, or simply moved on.
School for Good and Evil has been with me growing up and is very dear to me. But now that I'm older, there are more stories for me to enjoy. It's a chapter in my life that I'm ready to close but will look back fondly on.
I still had fun while it lasted, and i do miss it sometimes. I hope everyone also had fun or continue to enjoy the series! Yippee!!!
This month was the month....I joined a dead fandom...😞😞
Where is the school for good and evil (BOOK) fandom??
"I'm far from home, I've lost my only friend, everyone here hates me, and all I want is a way to find some kind of a happy ending... But you can't even tell me the truth. My ending is not about what Good I do or what's inside me. It's about how I look.
I never even had a chance."
To Woods Beyond AU
Where only Sophie got taken on the day of the kidnapping. Agatha is determined to find her and bring her back home.
Agatha on her way to SGE with her cat and a new found friend. Wowow
Im so normal about this au frfr
YOOOOOO THIS LOOKS SO COOL!! Let's goooo separation au !!!
@pumpkinpaperweight had a dream and @bnanmonte gave me brain rot which led to lots of ideas and excess creative energy
what I like to call Separation Au or the universe where Agatha is ready to break bones at all times only Sophie makes it to the school. It's a lot of fun to consider when you realize without Agatha, Sophie can't do more than psychological torment and emotional manipulation - and that's something the schools' inhabitants excel at!
I mean. I don't think this is an unpopular opinion, but I did want to have a chat about the two 'endings' of the franchise, bc I find it fascinating. I haven't done one of these bad boys in a while... this is basically a big batshit ramble but it does touch on some interesting things so I'll post it anyway. This is mostly about Sophie.
Putting aside the immortal evergreen can of worms marked 'AGATHA SOPHIE TWINS' for a moment (or forever, bc I'm sick of talking about it and my opinion on it is TL;DR: bad stupid twist esp bc it meant nowt in later books, BUT Agaphie always had zero appeal for me so I have the questionable advantage of apathy on the entire thing), the ending of TLEA was... objectively better.
I, hag wot I am, remember the release of the The Last Ever After and a little bit of the fan spaces as they were at that time. I remember it patchily, but to vaguely set the scene: it is 2015 and you are VERY sure this is the last book in the series, since the tagline is The End Of Ends and it's being billed as such. The two major ships are Tophie and Tagatha, feat. Agaphie (but like, only really on fanfic.net, not the website as much to my memory?). Hophie is like... not taken that seriously. Most other ships barely exist. The fanbase is majority young teenagers, and mostly when you're young you take stuff at face value, and therefore most fans only considered the ships they were very explicitly presented with... unless you're a bit cleverer or a bit more in tune with the world/yourself than the average 12 year old, and remember that gay people exist. So, with this being the Last Book, the main question was: who's getting Tedros? (#feminism #trophyhusband #sexylamptrope #reversebechdelFAILED).
Like, a lot of people hoped it was Agatha, and were fairly sure it would be, but if Sophie didn't become Queen of Camelot, what would she do? Could they live in a weird polycule? (No. it's 2015 and this is a major publishing house). Would Agatha and Sophie become Deans? Twin School Masters like the School Master and the Good Brother? (as we then knew them, bc they only got names in TLEA. Do not say anything to me about Fall of SGE. I know.) Would Sophie become Rafal's Queen to match Agatha, permanently? (Everyone should have known this was not feasible the second rafal's face started falling off in book 1 bc soman has done many things but he never dropped the ball on making it clear rafal was a creep. in the main series idk about the prequels I didn't read em.)
Because it was a middle grade book and middle grade books cannot upset their readership too much (plus this was when one direction was big and teenage girls were hacking airport security and crap, no one was taking chances), it has a fairly conventional ending. Agaphie is put down like an elderly dog via a Sader Ex Machina, which was a bit harsh really. Arguably Soman could have just ignored it and left Agaphie shippers the sandbox of arguing with Tagatha shippers and fanfic, but no. Fly high. What else... Tedros finally stops dithering, pulls a fast one on Sophie, and reclaims agency and self-determination for Token Boy Characters everywhere. He goes back to his happy existence of clinging to Agatha's leg and getting dragged along behind her as she walks. Agatha is a little bit worried about being Queen but she has gained Self Worth and Agency this book so she'll be fine right! And fuck, at least she has something nice that isn't going to get blown to smithereens. (quests for glory (2017) is taken out the back and you hear a gunshot but pumpkinpaperweight says it's unrelated). Tedros has found his mother again and it was a reasonably miserable struggle to square himself with it, that was actually done pretty well. Merlin... Was There and he was funny comic relief for the kiddies. Hort got hashtag rejected, teaching men everywhere that there Is Only One Tedros, And Copycats Don't Get Shit. *paper is passed to the front* oh sorry haha it's about not chasing an impossible toxic beauty standard, because it won't make you happy in the long run, or solve your problems. my bad guys. Everyone has a nice crisp completed character arc, and they're actually good ones too. Lesso is dead and so are a few other people, but no one too major, bc again, middle grade. (I note here that although people were sad Lady Lesso had died, in general the atmosphere around Lesso in 2015 was not the same as it is now and therefore it wasn't like, that big a deal at the time, it was just like "damn :(" more than anything). Callis suffers the fate of important OP mothers to protagonists everywhere, and also dies. At least she can beat Rafal to the afterlife and be there with a hammer when he wakes up.
But Sophie? Right up until the last few pages, it looked like she was going to go to Camelot. It really did. And Tedros was so right to think that was gonna be weird, bc it would be so weird. Sophie being somewhere where she has to be inferior to Agatha all her life?! Don't make me laugh. She needed her own individual ending... and Soman actually wrote her a really good one!!! It was a positive riff on the concept introduced in book 1, of Nevermore, Paradise Alone, in that Sophie could be happy without the conventional Ever romance she destroyed herself repeatedly in the pursuit of, but not be utterly alone, bc she still had Agatha and her friends, and now some students. She adopts the Deanship of the School for Evil, which works incredibly well considering she was reforming Evil with her Lunchtime Lectures even in book 1, and it gives her influence, power and purpose, without her having to ursurp Agatha and impose herself upon a man who has not loved her since halfway through book 1 and will not be made to pretend to. (#tedrosagencyarc #tedrosgirlbossera). Also, I think it was a very good move to make her and Agatha have a day's ride of physical distance between them, to crack that weird codependence they have going on, and force them to develop separate lives where Agatha is not constantly worrying about how to defer to Sophie, or what Sophie will think. (Say what you will about Tagatha but Agatha used up all her deferential spirit on Sophie and has never spared any on Tedros. She will exercise her Woman's Right To Tell Tedros To Shut The Fuck Up. *tedros voice* mine lady wife is passing incensed with me, prithee good lord that I may perish, etc etc etc. he does argue but you can see him getting worse and worse at it throughout the books as he slowly realises a) it's useless b) she's like nearly always right).
So, that's all good right! It's a good ending! Everyone has a completed character arc and a happy ending, even if it's not conventional. All three books closed off. Nice! It--
I'll only talk about OTK for brevity's sake. (I have never been brief in my life).
SGE has, for a while, had a Thing about needing to be smarter than readers. Not pinning this as a personal flaw on Soman's part, I actually think it's really just a product of the media environment that we're in right now. Creators get really really weird about fans guessing endings or plot twists. There is a preoccupation with being shocking and subversive. I don't think this is inherently really bad, since who DOESN'T want to impress their audience? But as it is these days it's a bit... extreme. Think Marvel not giving their actors entire scripts so they can't spoil things, or Sherlock and Westworld trying to outsmart their fanbases, or... Game of Thrones. Lol. All this to say, these books read like Soman desperately wanted to blindside readers with the Camelot Years, and especially the ending of One True King, but kind of couldn't, because it was a middle grade fairytale book and he can't kill off Tedros because the book says 8+ on the back, and it's not the done thing in mainstream middle grade. This meant that he had to resort to random bizarre plot points in order to make the path to the ending surprising, since the ending was pretty much predestined. That meant King Teapea, and the crystal ball, and the many, many deaths, and the Putsi bank, and the wizard wishes. And bc everyone was so stressed from the journey there, the ending seems nice and relieving, like an oasis. We got a wedding we expected to get two whole books ago! Yay!
...except we didn't, bc Tedros's freak magic grandpa DIED and stole the spotlight before the ceremony and then the book ends!
(as an actual ending scene it's fine and well written, I just have beef with merlin, and think the ending as a whole is. questionable. the ending ending is a perfectly servicable scene)
If you look too hard at the OTK ending as a whole, bits start falling off. Questions that have just not been answered are left. And it's not like TLEA, where it didn't really matter what Hester or Beatrix were gonna do, because we had no expectation of anything they should be doing. Here, the Coven started QFG looking for a School Master, as a key plot point in the new trilogy. It was sort of maybe implied it would be Nicola? At least I felt it was. But by the end, there is no School Master, the plot point is dropped, the Coven's quest is incomplete, and Nicola, despite QFG heavily insinuating she'd be important, is irrelevant. Sophie is now not Dean (it's... Manley?? Ok boring. and we don't even know who Good's is, it's probably Anemone) and is riding off into the sunset with Hort, whose wolf bit... died? Idk. Tedros is apparently a-ok with his dad sending him to be executed, and being executed in general. He's literally seen the abyss but he's chill w it. (Again; middle grade. Soman did a big scary concept, then couldn't make it scary, bc it was too scary for the kids. Fair is fair. Fanfic can fill the gap I guess.) Agatha's there, getting sidelined at her own wedding in a fairly OOC wedding dress, #storyofherlife. The Coven are doing the Sherrif's job or something, it's weird. Nicola has a kpop boyfriend. It's all weird.
(Tedros and Agatha get a much more balanced ending in TLEA, too; while both endings have a bend towards Sophie and are from her POV- which is fine if you think Sophie is the main character, which Soman seemingly does- Agatha gets almost no narrative attention at the prep for her own damn wedding, and considering Tedros got his head hacked off not too long ago, everyone seems a damn sight more concerned about other things. They're much more present in the ending of the School Years compared to the Camelot Years, ironically, considering they practically are Camelot. Figure that out.)
If you remember the promotional material for Quests for Glory (oh! I know, eons ago), they did trailers for various characters who were implied to be important, in rising order of importance. (These were really good btw. We were losing our minds. It was so fun). Tedros was billed as most important, which was the biggest fucking lie in the world, because he is STILL a supporting character in the CAMELOT YEARS, which should have been called the Sophie Years. But Nicola, Kiko, Bogden, Willam, Beatrix, Reena, and Kei were all on there, and hardly any of them ended up being important in the slightest. Bodgen and Willam were there for nothing but foreshadowing; even Willam being the brother of Tristan/Yara had no bearing. Kei was just there to obsess over Rhian and then die. Reena, Kiko, and Beatrix and Nicola were shunted into the Knights of Eleven alongside the other sidelined female characters who didn't have a job (Guinevere, Dean Brunhilde, The Coven, Maid Marian, Queen Jacinda). There is a whole scarf's worth of loose threads in the end of OTK, where these characters are introduced for one minor purpose, or are hangovers from previous books, and are either hastily killed off, or just simply purposeless.
I understand that Soman was just... obliged to do a lot of stuff in the OTK ending, (imagine if the wedding hadn't happened at all, that would have been my final straw) but really it's less the fanservice and bizarre choices, and more that entire loose threads are left dangling, and Sophie's ending, that piss me off so bad.
and that tedros wore a white and gold suit to his wedding in magic medieval fantasy world. for all the movie's faults at least they had confidence that tedros could slay...
Ppl argue that Sophie's ending is a 'learning to love yourself before you can love anyone else' kinda thing (in which case soman needs to stop taking plot pointers from rupaul), and her learning to settle for a man who isn't a perfect image of Tedrosesque Princeliness, which is a fair enough interpretation, but it is just... nowhere near as interesting as the TLEA ending? Her endgame being Hort is so... naff. Hort should have had a chance to develop as a person beyond his obsession with Sophie. The end of TLEA WAS his chance! But it doesn't happen, and he falls into the spike-pit trope of like, slightly stalkerish guy gets framed as funny and harmless and therefore gets the girl. It's not even consistent; he improves a bit, then he gets trolleyed and suggests offing Agatha, and then Sophie calls him a sad soft boy and for some reason we're meant to like, believe that, even though he's been acting a bit of a dick for no real reason. Also, I didn't even think many people cared about Hophie like that?! I didn't think Soman cared about Hophie like that! And I do not understand why Sophie couldn't have had Hort and the Deanship? Couldn't they have gone back to school and had one of those funny unethical Teachers Dating relationships, at the very least? The Deanship was her perfect ending! To take that away and replace it with Hort just seems so... idk, flat. I was so dismayed when Sophie started dismissing the role and talking down about it / letting Rhian convince her it was a lower purpose in QFG and ACOT; should have seen it coming that she'd ditch it. It's disappointing that the Deanship and the (albeit dysfunctional) love of Agatha, the Coven, Tedros, etc weren't seen as enough for her; they should have been. Love, purpose, food made no sense to me; she already had the first two! It makes so much more narrative sense for Sophie to be alone, but alone and happy, because it bucks the trends of villain's ultimate loneliness being a punishment! That was the whole thing! She was offered companionship in Camelot, and love from Hort, and she said no to both, because she chose solitude herself, and rewarded herself with it. It makes the originally less-than-ideal Paradise Alone into something she can like, because that's what Sophie does; when classic Evil isn't fit for her purpose she changes it to make it work for her! That's why she has to be Dean! She is New Evil! She is the advent of Evil relevance and progression! And that's why it's ok that she's also doing dumb shit like building statues of herself and making kids do menial tasks for her; it's funny, and it's making a point of her triumph. She's not punished; she's rewarded, with power and purpose and friends that love her. Why wasn't that enough?!
(Not to mention that Manley undid everything, so her brief stint as Dean was literally completely erased. Ugh.)
This is a mad ramble, but the point is; the OTK ending is so messy, and I genuinely am a little bit surprised that Soman's editors let it get through with so many holes in it? Just on a narrative level; no School Master, no Deans, no relevance for Nicola, no follow-through on most quests. I know that Soman clearly thought he couldn't rehash the ending of TLEA in OTK, which to some degree I agree with, but the ways he chose to differ were not ways I liked, and he didn't even tie up the things he'd set up in earlier books. If we do ever get that 'adult' third trilogy Soman keeps going on about, (which I sincerely doubt we will, and also hope we won't), perhaps we'll have a final 'official' ending, again... but I sincerely doubt it'll be anywhere near as good as the original ending, and the one I still like to consider the 'One True' ending. ha ha. alright go away I'm done
Ur so right, callis would def not tell agatha but would be really vague about it. But i imagine a scene where agatha looks so determined to go after sophie, that callis would see that agatha may or may not be an ever. Maybe she will modify/add some things to the witch-in-training pack that will help agatha also survive school for good (Or maybe not, considering most ever stuff are mostly beauty products and i dont think callis would have that on hand)
Do you think callis will slip a map? Or better yet a potion book? Imagine agatha realizing that the weird stuff that callis cooks are real potions.
Wouldn't it also be really cool if agatha stops by another village, to see how different the fantasy world to gavaldon. From the buildings to the magical stuff going around. To meet these people and their lifestyles. It'll give agatha a wake up call that there is a whole different world out there, the fairytale world.
So when she reaches sge, she will be fully aware that fairytales exist and its time to find out how these fairytales came to be. Meets the descendants of legendary characters. Imagine how devastating the gallery of good scene would be, finding out about the mogrifs, Then the horrifying wishfish/gargoyle scene. She would definitely try to get away from that place as soon as possible.
But sophie, hahahaha hoo boi sophie
It would be so interesting to see how this affects the plot, and what will happen to the rest of the school year.
@pumpkinpaperweight had a dream and now im suffering with brainrot. The "only sophie got taken so agatha went after her" post, and im not ok, im not ok. I have this plot in my head now, ideas and dialouges, but will i actually do it? idk so here's a couple sketches i did, what i imagined what happens at the aftermath of the kidnapping
aaaarrghh i want this to be a full blown au so bad you have no idea i am not okkk aaaaaaaahh
You. You are enabling me, see i thought about it too >:00!!
I thought agatha will have time to pack stuff before leaving, which means callis has time to give agatha some advice or tips and tricks. Agatha will def kick ass at surviving fairytales class. And wouldnt it be really neat if reaper comes with agatha, agatha would freak out when she can understand her cat (but hey she has a companion now!!)
Agatha meeting friends along the way! I hab a person in mind but im still thinking about it, but either way ur so right, agatha getting exposed to creatures outside of sge would really make the mogrifs stuff even more devastating.
As for getting there! I thought agatha can either go to sge by bird, or by flowerground! And i thought oohh what if agatha finds the bird first, then fly to the flowerground, then the flowerground will take her straight to SGE.
Man im very normal about this au,, very normal,,,

I had a dream a couple of weeks ago that Sophie was the only one kidnapped, and Agatha literally broke out of Gavaldon and trekked through the Woods to go and rescue her, and she pulled up to the Good reception desk (my subconscious did not remember there was not such a thing) looking like absolute shit with mud and twigs and everything all over her like 'hi I think my friend's here I'm looking for her' and whoever it was behind the desk (possibly Anemone icr) was like
But then Dovey started trying to gaslight Agatha into believing she was meant to be there as a student (typical) and Tedros was there briefly but then I gained full consciousness rather than partial consciousness and thought 'well that's not the plot of 2013 hit novel The School For Good And Evil'
