Chapter 24: Troubled Family
"Harper!" Timonthy and I shouted as we took in the full view of the person who had walked through the door. The red-haired boy wearing his favorite cap with green ink tattoos and the typical red suit. And obviously, he came in drunk, as expected.
"I honestly wasn't going to come but I said to myself: Roy, you haven't visited your nephews in like 2 weeks. And now I'm here. Is your father here?" he said, as he sat down in one of the dining room chairs, or at least tried to sit in a chair. God brings them up and they get together.
"Actually it was almost a month, days more, days less. But now, kind gentlemen, I must go to sleep because I have classes in a few hours. I don't want to fall asleep in history or math class so..." I said while I was trying to arrange the couch for Roy to sleep, when I finished talking, I pointed out the exit to Timonthy, not through the door, but through the window.
I didn't want him to sleepover, it was one thing to ask him for help because my brother wasn't around and another to want him to sleep here. We still hadn't fixed our problems, and I still refused to talk to him.
After I got Roy settled and finished cleaning up the mess, I went to sleep, two hours was something. I put away my suit and settled down to sleep, with the moonlight bathing my room and a mountain of homework that I didn't feel like doing right then and there.
When my alarm went off, I could smell food, Jason was a pretty good cook and rarely had anything raw or burnt. Unlike me, the most I could make was instant soup.
I got up and put on my school uniform, I had to admit I hated that uniform, but it was better than wearing casual clothes. I decided to comb my hair for once in my life, putting on a tiny braid and leaving the rest loose.
When I got to the kitchen I noticed Roy and Jason having a pleasant conversation, laughing from time to time, with Roy throwing bread crumbs at my father's head.
"How did my favorite niece wake up?" Roy said, trying to hug me. And when he did, he squeezed me in his arms.
"Fine, but could you let go of me?" I asked, trying to get out of that bear hug.
"Not until you call me uncle" The smile on his face became huge, and the food on the table only made me want to get out of it as fast as possible.
"Uncle Roy, now let go of me," he finally let go, but the smile was still on his face. It wasn't very often that I called him that, but he loved it. "My brother is not here yet?" I asked as I poured coffee and took some food on a plate.
"I thought he was the one who took me to my room," Jason said, walking over to the table to put down another plate of food.
"Actually... I called Jackson to help me. And now I'm running late, would either of you like to give me a ride? or give me the keys so I can drive?" I asked, trying to avoid the subject. I took the keys to my father's motorcycle, making them jingle so they could see that I was serious about going on my own without a driver's license.
In the end, Roy offered to give me a ride, he wasn't a bad driver, but it wasn't like I enjoyed the ride much either. When he dropped me off at school I warned him to keep Jason away from the phones in case the school called him about something, I had a bad feeling and didn't want to get the classic hour-long scolding.
As I walked in I started to look for my brother or a classmate of his to let him know about my brother's absence, but someone got in my way.
"Look at you, you almost look like a normal girl. Without those painted hairs and those chains on your skirt or those excessive extra sweaters, and obviously without your classic bodyguard," said the girl in front of me, as if we had known each other all our lives.
"Do I know you?" I asked, sweeping her with my eyes.
"Don't play stupid with me?" she replied, moving closer to me.
"If I may, I have to look for my brother," I tried to avoid her so as not to get into more trouble.
"Why? To hide behind him?" Her tone of voice was getting more and more irritating.
"Angella, leave her alone" Marcel Cleary was the guy everyone feared because he could ruin your family's financial situation in seconds, and that was worse than a blow. Advantages of being the son of a multimillionaire family. When the girl finally walked away, he spoke again. "So, what's Bruce Wayne's granddaughter doing alone?"
"I'm looking for my brother, have you by any chance seen him," I asked, starting to walk along with him.
"No, but we have a lot of classes together, I'll let them know he's not here. Don't worry," he said kindly, we said goodbye and went our separate ways.
When I entered the classroom corresponding to my class, I looked for my seat next to my cousin, and to my surprise, the new boy's seat was empty.
"What about the new boy?" I asked, arranging my things on the table before the annoying literature teacher arrived.
"I don't know, I didn't see him in the courtyard," Olive answered, playing with a pencil in her hand, then tossing it at someone's head, "Hey, did you talk to Damian? When I got to the Manor he was saying something about leaving Bruce in the kitchen and then he wasn't there," she recounted, starting to take her things out of her backpack.
"I didn't talk to him, but Jason was saying something similar, I didn't take it seriously because he was drunk, but Tim also said Damian told him about that weird adventure. At this point I don't know what to expect from those guys" I said, copying her actions.
The first two classes went on forever, with one teacher literally ignoring me and another not explaining what the Punnett square was and expecting us to guess how to do it.
When recess came, I was more annoyed than anything, at least I hoped the next few classes would be a little lighter or I would start using the shade to distract myself.
At some point, Timonthy approached my table, carrying a cute white thermos with an adorable polar bear drawn on it.
"Wow Wayne, I didn't know you liked bears," Jared teased, tossing him a piece of lettuce.
"Just so you know, they're fierce hunters, and the thermos is not for me." When he finished speaking, he brought the glass close to my face.
"For me?" I asked incredulously. Tim wasn't much of a gift-giver, and this was really adorable.
"Yes, and it's full. I asked Alfred to make the coffee since he knows how you like it," this was definitely adorable, at least to me.
Before recess ended, I went to the bathroom, asking Olive to put the thermos in my place if I didn't make it to the cafeteria before the bell rang.
Usually, in those places, the most horrific acts are witnessed. Clearly, I did my basic needs and washed my hands (as anyone not addicted to pictures in the bathroom mirror would do) and before leaving I ran into Angella.
"Wow, it's a small world," she said, pushing me into the stinky place.
"And it sure is." I tried to dodge her to get out since the bell had rung a few seconds ago.
"I'm told you don't even live in your grandfather's manor. Who does your father have to suck his dick to have money to eat?"
"I would ask you the same question Wilson."
"Tell me, Jane, how does it feel to be Bruce Wayne's forgotten granddaughter? Oh, that's right, you don't know."
"So that's what this is all about? Ha," I said, straightening up to look taller.
"You missed me so much, you had to find a replacement." And so much for my patience.
My fist went straight to her nose, she didn't even have a chance to avoid it. As she tried to block the gush of blood, I grabbed her by the hair and slammed her head against the sink. Then I pulled her into a cubicle and whipped her again against the toilet bowl knocking her unconscious.
Blood was flowing from her nose and from a cut on her forehead. This would be a big problem if they found me here.
I took out the shadow and had it destroy the camera in the hallway while I washed my hands, arranged my hair and uniform skirt. I left Angella lying on the floor, bleeding.
As I walked out into the hallway, I picked up the shadow and headed to my last classes of the day.

Chapter 1: Eclipse
Gotham, the city of crime. Where you could be assaulted at every corner. You live in fear of death to more than one psychopath.
Among the shadows of those alleys lit only by the moon and the streets little-traveled wandered with total tranquility, or at least disguised fear.
I did not bother anyone, but everyone bothered me, even the huge sign in the sky for the bat, for the savior of this city.
I stopped as soon as I spotted a motorcycle, and not just any motorcycle, looking for the owner. And, knowing that it had a burglar alarm, I took the shadow and moved it a little, so that in a few seconds, he came out of the fifth-floor bar on the other side of the street.
A tall, black-haired man, quite tall and quite drunk, ran out as soon as he heard that annoying noise coming from his motorcycle. And as soon as he realized who was responsible for interrupting his peace of mind, he relaxed his muscles and put an adorable smile on his face.
-If you wanted to talk to me you would have called, texted, or sent a postcard, you didn't have to cause me to go into cardiac arrest on a Friday night.- said Jason Todd, as he pulled the keys out of the bike and turned off the alarm.
-It's good to see you too, Father.- I replied. I sat down on the sidewalk, making room for the man who had adopted me years ago to join me, in a silence that was not at all uncomfortable, just admiring the street lights.
-When did you arrive?- I asked him, restraining my desire to hug him. It had been a long time since I had seen him. One day he took his things and left, leaving me alone. And as soon as I found out he was in town, I couldn't help looking for him in the places he frequented most.
-About two hours ago, I didn't know if you were at Wayne Manor, at the apartment, or with Major Arcana*.- he replied as he took a pack of cigarettes out of his leather jacket and then threw it on the floor.
After a few years of taking care of me, Todd started to give up some habits that were harmful to him, because they also affected me. But some things are hard to give up.
His little Jane Todd. The biological daughter of Oscar Hart, a not so well-known but very dangerous criminal. That cruel man had left me in an orphanage after my mother was murdered in front of us when I was just 6 years old.
I spent many years in that place, with little food, not sleeping well, getting sick every month, running away at night, and stealing from convenience stores so my friends wouldn't suffer from hunger, 6 years passed until a strange man arrived at the orphanage, greeting the owner of that place as if they had known each other for years.
An attack on that place by an enemy of Red Hood, almost ended my life, being wounded by that guy. From that day on Jason decided to give me his last name and gave me all the protection that the second son of Bruce Wayne could have.
-What are you thinking about?- Jason asked, pulling me out of my thoughts. It's not like I don't dive into my mind very often, but he more than anyone else knew what inner demons were.
-I thought about what my life would be like if you hadn't adopted me four years ago.- I replied. -I was just checking to see if you had arrived and if you were okay.- I stood up and shook out my pants. I put a hand in the pocket of my sweatshirt, reaching for the copy of the keys he had forgotten, and gave them to him. -Olive invited me to the Mansion, apparently, they are having a little sleepover, tomorrow morning I will go to the apartment.
-I'll take you there. I need some documents I forgot in my room and I need to talk to Bruce.- Jason said as he got up and took the keys out of the motorcycle.
-But I'm driving.
-No
-You're a bad driver.
-No
-If I fall off in the middle of the road it's your fault.

Chapter 2: Wayne Manor
Wayne Manor. Although it looked cold, empty, and mysterious, if you looked closely you could see that most of the lights were on, and it was still cold, empty, and mysterious.
And with all that, you could make two assumptions. The first was that Bruce would have to pay a lot for the light, but that didn't matter, he's rich or he'd ask his kids to pay for it. And the second was that almost the whole family was gathered there and let's emphasize the almost.
When we got to the gates, I got off the bike rang the bell and we were immediately ushered to the front door. We both greeted Alfred and entered the mansion.
"Young master, young lady. Welcome. Bruce is in his office, the boys are in the living room and Master Grayson is in his room. And there are biscuits in the kitchen." Said that kind butler, leading us upstairs, where most of the rooms he had mentioned were located.
"Cookies!" Shouted someone in one of the rooms, the next thing we heard were the footsteps of someone running.
"I'm just coming to get a few things and then I'll leave. I don't want to spend the night here." Jason said to Alfred once we were in the living room. I couldn't help but be a little sad about it, but I knew it wouldn't do any good to ask him to stay.
A huge room that connected the entire upstairs, used to gather that beautiful and sometimes troubled family. Spread out on the floor were Olive Grayson, Damian Wayne playing some video game from the huge collection that Richard Grayson's adopted daughter had. And the couches were occupied by Assana Jernigan and Rai Hayashi, two kids staying temporarily, and Tim Drake, with a book in his hands and a sleepy look on his face.
The latter was the first to notice his brother's presence. He got up as fast as he could, almost falling in the attempt and tripping over the carpet, and stood in front of us.
"Hello." He greeted, with noticeable nervousness. I wanted to greet him as I used to, hugging him and throwing myself on his back so he could carry me, but my pride was stronger.
"Hello," I replied, as dryly and curtly as I could. "Little devil, can you convince my father to stay? He's drunk and it's already 1 a.m." I asked, turning to Damian and ignoring Tim.
"Stay or I'll kill you," Damian shouted, still not taking his eyes off the TV. "I tried Jane. Ha, I beat you, now pay up." He said to Olive, holding out his hand.
Little Grayson pulled out a $50 bill and handed it to the little ball of hate, then got up and ran to hug me.
Olive Caristeas, a long and complex story. That girl with the pale complexion and long jet hair was actually a biological weapon, stolen by Lex Luthor and, unfortunately, Oscar Hart. Created from a mother box and what at one time would have been the new Pandora's box.
Richard Grayson saved her from becoming an assassin and decided not only to make her his assistant, but also his daughter. She came into the family a few years after me.
"All right, I'll stay. But only tonight. I have to go back to the Outlaws." Jason said reluctantly, then went to his room. When my cousin finished hugging me, she invited me to sit with the others. Assana was the next to throw herself at me.
"How did you find him?" She asked as soon as she let me go.
"You know, wandering around. Rai was the one who told me he saw him coming." I replied, pointing to the boy who was already snoring next to us.
It was a long and complicated story for both of us. Our relationship wasn't always the best, but we both know it wasn't our fault. She never knew her parents. Olive and I offered to let her stay with us for a while until we had rooms in our hideout or until she could find an apartment that suited her needs.
Rai Hayashi was a boy from a well-to-do family until his metagene activated and he accidentally killed his father, aunt, and brother, causing his mother to leave him abandoned on the street. Although Bruce didn't adopt him, he let him stay at the mansion for as long as he wanted.
"Jane, pass me a glass of soda" Damian ordered, not taking his eyes off the screen. Assana pointed to the table next to the couch, where there were soft drinks, chips, popcorn, and cookies.
"At least ask nicely," Tim commented, followed by a loud laugh from Olive. "I'll do it." he got up from his seat and went to pour a glass of soda for his little brother. "Do you guys want some?" He asked Assana and me. We both nodded, and I still didn't look at him.
The rest of the night was spent between blows from the brothers, bad jokes from Olive, and scoldings from Rai for not waking him up. Anyway, the six of us were used to sleeping late into the morning, or at least most of us were. And I definitely enjoyed my nights off, and even more if it was with the family.

I mean, for me it's a yes.
But I think in canon Remus had the potion (really don't remember the name) that kept him conscious during his transformation, so he should have remembered that. Maybe he did remember and just kept silent.

Please say yes
