(side note: I actually sketched out a short comic explaining this illustration, but didn’t manage to finish it;;; I might go back to it eventually, though maybe not? Anyway, if I do it’ll be posted on my blog. )

okay, so i'm the type of person who will buy anything that involves my special interest, and funds will allow, so when i saw captain america gummies, i bought captain america gummies.

AND THEN! i came to the realization that the blue raspberry shield gummies are totally just the stealth shield from CA:TWS and i'm a yapper so i obviously had to inform my family of this breaking discovery and i just don't think they were as excited as they should've been😔✋️ so now i yap into the void of tumblr bcs i gotta get this discovery off my chest. thank you for coming to my ted talk. captain america: the winter soldier is about how fascists can be anywhere, and we have to stop them, even if it means going against what feels like the whole world.

captain america: civil war is about how even when there are fewer fascists, regular people can still be wrong and the government can't be trusted to keep the best interest of minorities in mind.

captain america: brave new world (and, to an extent, TFATWS) is about how when people in power keep secrets, miscommunicate, and spread lies, everyone suffers.

thinking about how Bucky probably rationalizes how fucked up his brain is by thinking it's his fault - he thinks he was broken before the war and the serum just made it even worse. he doesn't even argue when Zemo says only Steve was uncorrupted by the serum. when in reality, the serum amplifying Bucky's caring, resilient nature is probably why it took HYDRA twenty years to break him. the serum didn't corrupt Bucky, HYDRA did. but of course, Bucky can't see it that way.
