If I had a nickle for every time I got an idea for a post and then see a comic cover doing the exact same and forcing me to scrap it,
I would have multiple nickles. Not many but proud of myself it happened more then once. And I don't even have any real artistic education!
I guess I think about the afterlife a lot. And it just hit me that why do we assume it’s just a skeleton in a robe? Does it have to look human just to make sure we can perceive it?
Vigilante OC 2019 v. 2024
Late upload, lost the internet-connection yesterday
Another school-project revisited! Got to create my own superhero, probably got ready with another task early so did this to spend the rest of the class.
The original was traced over a Batman-promo and I did a full body suit cause I find that kind of suit and mask fun, like Spider-Man and Deadpool. Simpler the mask, the better the body language.
Wanted him to be some vigilante so dark colours to smelt in and with his own toned down utility belt. I ignored a logo for the same reasons, if you don’t want to stick out, you have no need for a brand.
I liked the name of Nightcrawler but didn’t have much of a personality figured out yet. Reworking on this, I kind of felt a joking relaxed personality could work, it would be fun that the one in any scene with the worst experiences and jobs would have the coolest attitude.
A talk at Comic Con Nordics reminded me of the importance of the silhouette. A body tight suit doesn’t have many unique elements so instead of drastically changing the costume, I made the ropes loose and fly in the wind, drawing more attention to a potential martial arts or boxing-background.
So, last year I drew characters on the spectrum in coordination with me telling stories how aspects of my diagnosis have affected me in periods of my life. But I just have so many meaningful stories so this year’s Autism Awareness Month, I will talk more about the characters themselves and the parts of their characteristics that I enjoy. So starting is Max Caulfield from Life is Strange, who I fell in love with from scene one. From her awkward posture to the need to put on music walking from the classroom to the bathroom, she was just a character I enjoyed in another light than literally any character I ever came across before. (Other than you, Newt. You will always be my nr. 1) As well as her interest in photography and classes matching my own interest in the subject and the history of art and so on, born from the need to capture the moment as my senses are usually just so overstimulated 24/7 leading to majority of memories either getting messy or just overwritten completely by newer memories, she really became a comfort character. So because I fell for Max so early on in the story, I felt it was fitting for her to represent the overstimulation of sound and the rest of the senses. I wanted the background to be crowded but you see glimpses of an empty hallway throughout the lyrics of the song that’s tuning it out, but the text ended up so small so it’s not as clear as I had hoped.
Started a file with a young Peter Parker reading Captain America-comics and like a timeline of him transforming to Spider-Man and teaming up with Cap but maybe it took to long to finish so lost either interest or confidence in it so will let the file collect dust and maybe return another date.
But still finished Spidey and Cap so here they are!
Love I was getting to know some of my new coworkers yesterday and we talked about Photoshop and he asked if I had a portfolio and I just
... NO ...
Mostly because I do fan art and it's hard to show off fan art with pride without feeling like a five year old but damn, feels like something is missing
Just got home from Comic Con where I listened to my favorite swedish artist, a DC comic-artist panel and got a free poster from the DC Editor-in-chief. And also bought a Steve Ditko-collection right after celebrating his birthday so that was fitting.
Two years today (I think) I have been drawing these two on a regular basis! Time sure flies by
