to opt out on desktop, click your blog ➡️ blog settings ➡️ scroll til you see visibility options and it’ll be the last option to toggle.

to opt out on mobile, click your blog ➡️ scroll then click visibility ➡️ toggle opt out option.

if you’ve already opted out of showing up in google searches, it’s preselected for you. if you don’t have the option available, update your app or close your browser/refresh a few times. important to note you also have to opt out for each blog you own separately, so if you’d like to prevent AI scraping your blog i’d really recommend taking the time to opt out. The Ides of March (March 15th) is basically a Tumblr holiday. Get ready for Ceasar references around that time of year.

Folks on Tumblr absolutely love dragging and joking about this guy called Ea-Nasir. He’s a guy from 3,800 years ago who was basically a con man and is the subject of the world’s oldest-known customer service complaint letter. 

Always tag your posts for heavy topics that might trigger someone

Don’t use euphemisms for heavy topics when tagging your posts – this makes it hard for people to avoid the topics that trigger them.

You can blacklist topics that trigger or bother you.

You can block people you don’t want to interact with. You don’t need to feel bad about it or have a deep reason for it. You get to curate your experience on here and you don’t owe anybody an explanation.

Go to your settings and change it so that you can see the date a post was blogged. This comes in really useful for when you see news articles.

You can have as many blogs as you want! Some people have a mixed-topic blog that they consider their personal blog and then have themed blogs for their interests while others just have the one blog. Do whatever feels comfortable for you.

Just found the german (my first language) translation of Hamilton on Spotify. My first impression was that it's well translated but the choice of words are odd.

Then I got to "Die Schuyler Schwestern" (Schuyler Sisters) and ran into this line:

Literal translation: "You're a babe, I would drink your bathwater."

This line is a replacement for the line "I'm a trust fund, Baby, you can trust me"

Now I can see why it was so unsuccessful.

I just reada really good fic but halfway through I realized "oh shit this is really familiar.... didn't I write something like this once?" And as I kept reading I kept predicting what happened next and the further I went the more convinced I was that they'd ripped off my story-

like, copied the ENTIRE plot and re-written it, just better than I had? The characters were more fleshed-out than mine were, and the POV was more interesting, and the pace made more sense- but it was MY STORY?

So close to the end I was like "holy shit.. do I message them? Ask if my story inspired theirs? Should I be angry? Flattered?" Cause their tags and description didn't mention me AT ALL, which, sure, it's fanfiction to begin with, but if you're using my work than at least credit me as inspo, right? Just to be courteous?

But I get to the end of the final chapter, and it's not finished, and I'm kind of disappointed cause I never finished my story and I was really immersed in their version now and had been looking forwards to seeing how they tied up my loose ends- so I scroll to the bottom to leave a comment, and.
