gouache sketch of the 1943 phantom :0 I loooove his mask, it has a lot of character, and I think masks with a personality of their own help to sell the idea that the person wearing it is not only disguising themselves, but creating a whole new self on top of that. In one episode of the Scooby Doo Show, Velma mentioned that she knew Morse code beacuse she was in girl scouts.... when I tell you I SCREAMED because I was ALSO in girl scouts (though I never learned morse code :/ ) and because two of my special interests are scooby doo and vintage fashion, but one of my, like, sub categories of special interests lol under vintage fashion is the history of girl scouts and vintage gs uniforms!! They were sososososoo cute and they changed with the fashion of the times <33 I own a 1939 junior uniform too! ANYWAYS this had to be created. The gang's ages aren't really specified and obviously they haven't aged over the years but since SD started 1969/1970, lets suppose Velma was a girl scout in the early to mid 60s. I put her in a senior uniform and tried to be as accurate as possible. yeah that's it!!!!

Here's a drawing I did last year!! this was the first of a bunch of redesigns I did of Batman villains, I wanted to make them more vintage and add some of the l original inspirations in there. As well as more old horror movie tie ins because I'm a nerd lol. Here goes

I based Two-Face off of the 1931 Dr. Jeykll and Mr. Hyde, as well as the purple and orange suit he originally wears in the comics. I gave him pinstripes and a hat because they would do that to all the goons in old movies and I think it's really funny lol.

Catwoman was based sort of on a lady from The Cat People (1942), she's kinda cool, I would def redo her now but it is what it is!

Last one is Clayface!! This one was actually my favorite, he's got a looooot of old movie inspo, I based him off of the villain in Dr. X (1932), who was a guy who slapped "synthetic flesh" on his face and molded it to look grotesque. That was basically the premise of the original comic Clayface! I put him in the clothes that Lon Chaney wears as the Phantom because Clayface was inspired by the man the myth the legend himself, the man of a thousand faces. Two Phantom posts in a row yeesh you guys are getting it all. No idea what he's doing with his hand lmao. Also not saying I predicted Caped Crusader's Clayface buuuuut.....
