Here's a drawing I did last year!! this was the first of a bunch of redesigns I did of Batman villains, I wanted to make them more vintage and add some of the l original inspirations in there. As well as more old horror movie tie ins because I'm a nerd lol. Here goes
I based Two-Face off of the 1931 Dr. Jeykll and Mr. Hyde, as well as the purple and orange suit he originally wears in the comics. I gave him pinstripes and a hat because they would do that to all the goons in old movies and I think it's really funny lol.
Catwoman was based sort of on a lady from The Cat People (1942), she's kinda cool, I would def redo her now but it is what it is!
Last one is Clayface!! This one was actually my favorite, he's got a looooot of old movie inspo, I based him off of the villain in Dr. X (1932), who was a guy who slapped "synthetic flesh" on his face and molded it to look grotesque. That was basically the premise of the original comic Clayface! I put him in the clothes that Lon Chaney wears as the Phantom because Clayface was inspired by the man the myth the legend himself, the man of a thousand faces. Two Phantom posts in a row yeesh you guys are getting it all. No idea what he's doing with his hand lmao. Also not saying I predicted Caped Crusader's Clayface buuuuut.....
Have a great day everybody go watch an old horror movie~
YAYY HE DIDNT DIE IN BATTLE!! HE CAME BACK!!!
A couple of years ago I had the experience of watching When Knighthood Was In Flower (1922) in theaters and soon after I came down with a serious disease of I Love 1920s Medieval Fantasy Stuff, of which I have never recovered. I have no idea what the story is behind these people but they've been around since then, I painted them last month for a school project.
@another-art-studentt you're the only one who kind of knows who they are lol
I am this 🤏 close to starting a perry mason related side blog. Dangerously close. I'm warning y'all 🫵
I lied, I did draw something yesterday lol. Take this 🫴 I love btas mad hatter I feel like he was such an interesting character!! This drawing also looks a bit like gene wilders' willy wonka I can't stop seeing it HELP
I think fear of being perceived is such a mental roadblock to posting art because whenever I do all I can think of is like. nothing but crickets. eep eep. It's like I'm getting up on a podium in front of a really big silent crowd and I'm SWEATING like you would not BELIEVE. It would be so much easier to just Not post it and be able to sleep at night. But then. well. It will never be seen. shower thoughts for y'all :)
Nosferatu. Does this word not sound like the midnight call of the Bird of Death? Do not utter it, or the images of life will fade - into pale shadows and ghostly dreams will rise from your heart and feed your Blood.
Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror (1922) dir. F.W. Murnau

I love how we're all going to be blind without our glasses lol
I don't have anyone to tag I just love me a good picrew!!!
I found this picrew with really pretty Regency/Napoleonic era designs, I thought it would be cute if we make ourselves as ladies of the Napoleonic court! (sadly there isn't a male version so it's just for fem-presenting folks I'm afraid)
Above is my attempt at making myself, I need the outfit so bad (yes I am going for a historically accurate hairstyle because I am no coward!!!)
tagging (no pressure of course): @apurpledust, @mandatorycommunistbrunchhour, @auguste-marmonts-only-fan, @hanciiii, @bryla-kobaltu, @dinapiss, @6jozefa, @jel-randombooth, and anyone else who wants to join :3
My friend came up with the cutest idea of not just drawing OOTD's, but drawing -- mousefits! So of course I had to make some, featuring two Pyne and Smith dresses I've been living in lately. 💛
Hey are you actually interested in the history of Girl Scout uniforms because man oh man do I have some resources for you.
Yes. Yes I am. I dug through three whole boxes of girl scout stuff in my historical society's attic. I'm planning on doing an exhibit of the uniforms they have at some point. I haunt their attic for free.
Seriously though any resources would be helpful!! When looking online I found pretty much just summarized short versions of the history of GS uniforms from 1920-1960, nowhere near enough. However in my historical society's attic they had a book meant for collectors, and it had every badge and uniform and rank, and they were organized precisely by year which was quite a relief when putting together my 1939 GS outfit. But! That's the most I've found. One thing I haven't been able to find out is why some scouts had red kerchiefs, and some scouts had yellow ones. Doesn't seem to be because of rank, is it just troops' choice like the crest???? Idk if anyone can help me answer that one it'd be much appreciated lol
she/her ⟡ 21 ⟡ artist, always sfw!! currently stuck in a spider-man phase :/
