Amity Park has a local superhero.
He's great. He works hard to protect his town. That said, Amity's local hero is a teenager. The people he relies on to help and support him are teenagers. The town's superhero defense is a handful of kids figuring things out on their own.
They do good, but sometimes the people of Amity have to be prepared to lend a hand or hold their own for a bit. That's just how life is under these ceach other. Communities come together and support each other. It's fine. People adapt. Life goes on. They're really doing quite well.
A class from Amity Park visits a museum in Gotham on a field trip. They get caught in an unfortunately timed Scarecrow attack.
Scarecrow should have known better than to activate the fight or flight responses of a group of Amity Parkers.
The gas canister drops and discharges. The field trip group explodes into action.
A pair of Football players quickly overturns a table and use it as a shield as they charge the goons with the most firepower. Cheerleaders toss each other into the air for aerial attacks. Nerds turn objects from a nearby Janitor closet into a surprisingly effective trebuchet with astounding speed. One girl utilizes impressive martial arts skills.
A boy with Black hair and blue eyes flits about the battlefield pilfering and disassembling weapons with a shocking degree of efficiency as a Goth girl follows him around and bludgeon anyone who attempts to make a grab for him with a stand that had been holding up a rope barrier, and a boy in a beret lays down cover fire by launching pencils out of a makeshift bow formed from a binder and rubber bands with a startling degree of accuracy.
The teacher flits around pulling kids out of the path of attacks they hadn't seen, stowing any injured behind cover, and giving foes solid thwack on the noggin when the opportunity arises. He actually ends up knocking out Scarecrow himself.
The statement "We're not trapped in here with you. You're trapped in here with us," is repeated several times by different people.
When the Bats or police arrive, they have to carefully pull the feildtrip group off of the unfortunate rogues.
It takes a while to get the antidotes administered, but they do eventually manage. The class remains in defensive formation the whole time.
When the kids finally calm down enough to give statements, they mostly just say that Scarecrow gets what he gets for deliberately activating Amity Parkers' fight or flight responses. After the antidotes take effect, the class seems unfazed and goes about their business as soon as the authorities allow.
Some other visitors to the museum upload videos of the event online with titles like "the one class that was prepared for a field trip to Gotham" and "What kind of place is Amity Park, and why haven't I heard of it before?"
It doesn't take long for people to edit the videos to set the fight to music. Popular song choices include Ballroom Blitz, Bring 'em Out by Hawk Nelson, and the "we like to party" song from the six flags commercial.
Now the Bats are investigating Amity Park (and why they haven't heard of it before).
Before trying to shift make sure to remind yourself that what you're doing is a real attempt. It's easy to fall into going though the motions. Every. Single. Attempt. Poses are real feasible shot at shifting. There is a genuine possibility of you shifting every single time.
No one in Amity Park respects or trusts the GIW.
Civilians hate the GIW because they’re expensive, destructive and believe that they’re above the law and more qualified than anyone else.
For example, when it comes to payment and property damage.
Phantom and the Red Huntress work for free and don’t usually cause much property damage and what does get damaged can easily be covered by Amity Park exclusive “ghost insurance”.
The Fentons are loud and can be destructive sometimes, but they’re efficient, work at a very low price and are fully willing to pay for any damage not covered by ghost insurance. Plus they sell anti-ghost equipment at a low price and are more than willing to give tips on what to do if you’re the victim of an attack.
Ghost hunters from out of town are a mixed bag, because most aren’t equipped with actual equipment, instead bringing things made to communicate with the ghost and/or ward it off for some time (Spirit boxes to translate ghost speech, incenses and rituals to interact with them). Plus most out of town “ghost hunters” don’t even believe in ghosts and are usually just using the job as a way of conning money out of superstitious people. Prices can also range wildly. But those that take the job seriously can still be useful if an area is currently being haunted because they can still identify what exactly is haunting it and what you should do.
if your house contains a spirit the out of town ghost hunter could get it to identify itself or leave if it’s a weaker ghost, otherwise call the Fentons.
If it’s a ghost animal, treat it differently than a sentient ghost. Ghost animals are usually less dangerous than a sentient ghost but it’s still a wild animal. They can be dealt with easily and cheaply using incenses and Fenton gadgets that’ll make it leave the area or return to the zone. If it’s a large and/or dangerous creature, call the Fentons and tell them it’s a animalistic ghost.
If it’s a natural portal don’t bother calling the Fentons because natural portals cannot be closed or contained, don’t worry about it being that dangerous though, because natural portals are one way trips from the ghost zone to earth and can’t be seen or crossed from the human side unless you’re a full ghost. Just set up some incenses and charms so any ghosts that come though leave your house quickly or at least act respectfully while they’re here.
If it’s a collapsed portal, call the Fentons immediately and inform them of the situation. Natural portals that have collapsed may not be able to bring ghosts to the human realm, but for about a week after the full collapse, the area the portal occupied will produce high energy ectoplasm (H.E.E) that is extremely toxic and gives off an an astronomical amount of ectoplasmic radiation. Being in close proximity for too long can cause lasting health effects including ecto-acne. H.E.E such a powerful material that it’s used to power the Fenton portal. The Fentons are the most qualified people in Amity when it comes to dealing with the stuff. The GIW isn’t even allowed to do anything in this situation by both Amity Park and federal law. Just let the Fentons and possibly a hazardous material removal team deal with the stuff and stay with a friend or in a hotel for a day or two until they declare your house safe.
The GIW don’t care about public or private property and are loud, destructive and once again, believe that they are above the law and common decency. They also preform “mandatory sweeps” around the entire block of wherever they’re called in, raiding houses that they believe to have ghosts inside, ripping up lawns and damaging roads with their massive trucks and destroying public property either by accident or because a ghost was spotted nearby. They will also refuse to pay for any damages done and will secretly charge whoever called them with prices in the hundreds despite the fact that the propaganda posters advertising the GIW never mention a price.
Law enforcement in Amity hates the GIW because they get in the way of them trying to do their jobs, especially if someone has died. Multiple reports detail the GIW stepping in during cases involving sudden disappearances or murders and informing officers that the case is government business before removing all traces of said case’s existence. Multiple high ranking members of the GIW have been asked about this sort of thing and every single one of them claims that these cases “involved or resulted in the creation of an ecto-entity” making the case GIW business. It’s very obvious that the GIW uses these cases to locate and identify recently formed ghosts, but so far, no ghost related to a recent disappearance or murder has appeared and the GIWs meddling makes it impossible for actual law enforcement to figure out the causes of these crimes, meaning that murders and unexplained disappearances go unsolved.
The GIW also gives itself the authority to imprison and interrogate anyone that is believed to be involved with ghosts. In fact, for a while, the GIW made multiple attempts to arrest the Fentons and other ghost hunters because they fit this description. Some amendments were added to the anti-ecto law to exclude ghost hunters and ectobiologists (someone who studies ghosts for scientific purposes) to prevent this. This doesn’t mean they won’t try to push the Fentons and other ghost hunters around however.
The Fentons hate the GIW for of many, many reasons included but not limited to direct plagiarism of their scientific essays, multiple attempts to arrest them over tiny things that the GIW do not regulate and mass plagiarism of their gadgets and weapons.
The Fentons also hate how the GIW treats scientific research and the ghost zone itself.
The Fentons keep all of their research in the ops center and are more than happy to provide it if asked and actively want more people to be educated about ghosts. Their research is always kept up to date, and everything is meticulously covered. The Fentons want ectobiology to eventually be a subject that could be taught in a high school or college, mostly since when they were in college, their research was the first of its kind, often with nothing to go off of in terms of where to start or what to do and they ended up almost killing Vlad as a result.
Also, despite the “all ghosts are ectoplasmic copies of dead people and therefore are not and were never real people” stance, the Fentons are extremely against the idea of weaponizing ghosts and ectoplasm. You can’t control a ghost to do your bidding (freakshow is an exception, his staff was literally built by the ghost king and is therefore an outlier), You can’t create an ectoplasmic atom bomb (they tested if this was possible when they built the portal, you genuinely can’t) and any weapon that uses ectoplasm and works on human beings would be classified as either chemical warfare or biological warfare. They absolutely hate the idea of people using their research to wage wars.
The GIW on the other hand, keep all research a heavily kept secret and anything that is released or leaked is either outdated, details failed attempts at weaponization or is redacted to the point of absurdity.
The Fentons also disapprove of attempts to wage wars against, colonize, or damage large parts of the ghost zone. They understand that once the ghost enters the zone it has entered its natural habitat and home. Expeditions into the zone should not be used to capture or harm ghosts unless absolutely necessary. In the human realm they are entering our world with an actual motive (most ghosts need to be in the human realm to fulfill their obsessions), in the ghost zone you are invading their territory with no reason whatsoever, and due to the territorial nature of ghosts, showing too much hostility could trigger another Walker or even Pariah Dark level invasion. The Fenton’s may hate ghosts with every fibre of their being and want them destroyed, but they’re not idiots and they view what the GIW does as “swinging blindfolded at a hornet nest”.
The anti-ecto act details an ecto-entity as “An organism that relies on and/or creates ectoplasm and/or ectoplasmic radiation.” While ghosts, half-ghosts and plants native to the ghost zone fall under this jurisdiction, ghost portals, ectocontaminated objects, and devices powered by or made of ectoplasm don’t fit these requirements (mostly the “organism” part) and thus the GIW isn’t allowed to step in if it involves those things (For example, The GIW are not allowed to kick you out of your home and declare it a contaminated area if it contains a natural portal). The GIW likes to try and find loopholes around this.
Ectocontaminated creatures like Vlad and Danny in human form and anyone that’s been in an ectoplasm related accident do have ectoplasm as a permanent part of their bodies due to ectoplasm fusing with the cells in their bodies, but are actively excluded from the anti-ecto act because they’re still human beings, they’ve just got a tiny bit of ectoplasm in their bodies that cannot be removed. The GIW still treats ectocontaminated people like human beings because they’re forced to, but if a ghost is reported near where a person that’s been ectocontaminated lives, there’s a good chance they’ll bring that person into custody for “possible association with ecto-entities”. They do a similar thing to homeless people that are spotted near reported ghost locations.
Bringing people into custody for “possible association with ecto-entities” is basically the GIWs calling card, because “possible association with ecto-entities” is such a vague and difficult to disprove statement that just about anyone in all of Amity Park can fit that description and the GIW knows this. Anyone can and will be taken in from people that have witnessed a ghost fight to people that were briefly overshadowed to amateur ghost hunters and even to random people that have nothing to do with ghosts. Being taken in for “possible association with ecto-entities” is a popular meme around Amity Park, usually as a counterpart for sending someone to the gulag or Brazil.
The GIW may be partially government funded, but it has basically no governmental supervision and a good chunk of the GIW is self funded. They are extremely corrupt, breaking the anti-ecto laws amendments, several federal laws and most of the boundaries placed by the higher parts of the government whenever they deem appropriate. They aren’t even allowed to do half the things they do in Amity Park but get away with it because no one in Amity has the balls to stand up against them and even if they do, the government basically doesn’t care what some small government agency is doing in one tiny town in Illinois as long as they’re doing what they were sent there to do (research ghosts).
The GIW technically aren’t even supposed to be fighting ghosts. They were founded with the intention of RESEARCHING ghosts as nonviolently as possible. It’s the Ghost INVESTIGATION Ward, not the Ghost DESTRUCTION Ward. Both the federal government and the GIW themselves ignore this.
The extremely wealthy are usually able to bribe the GIW into leaving them or certain areas of Amity Park alone and/or make them turn a blind eye to ghostly activity. People that do this include (in descending order):
Vlad and all of his companies.
Axion Labs.
A small family in the extremely high class area of Amity known as the Mclains.
Most large companies that just want the GIW out of their way.
The Mansons on rare occasions.
Freakshow and circus gothica. Not anymore.
Some others.
For the first few months of the GIW being in Amity Park, they were completely unregulated with a massive budget and literally did whatever they wanted just by saying it was “government business”. They didn’t even need to play the “possible association with ecto-entities” card, because they’d just take anyone in for no reason other than “government business”.
That was, until they got sued.
To make a very long story short, the Fentons sued the GIW for plagiarizing their research, plagiarizing their weapons and selling them as their own and the multiple attempts the GIW made at arresting them over “direct association with ecto-entities” (ie: all of their research) “direct summoning of ecto-entities” (ie: the portal) and “harbouring ecto-entities” (ie: having an ectocontaminated person (ie: Danny) living with them). Most of the GIWs unregulated actions in Amity were brought up and the GIW were found guilty of scientific misconduct, plagiarism, abuse of power, dozens of accounts of unlawful arrest, embezzlement, discrimination of all kinds and many other crimes.
In the end the GIW was completely restructured, received several massive cuts to its budget and had multiple restrictions put on to try and regulate them, the anti-ecto law had multiple amendments added to make sure that it only effects ghosts and the GIW was banned from ever using Fenton research, gadgets, weaponry and basically everything with the word Fenton on it. This ban includes the creation of ghost portals.
Eventually the GIW was mostly unregulated again but even now, they mostly won’t mess with the Fentons or their research, because the Fentons are some of the only people with the courage needed to stand up to them and the evidence needed to put the GIW in hot water, and if the GIW end up with another incident like the “Fenton vs Ghost Investigation Ward lawsuit” they could all be in serious trouble.
The GIW has a list of “high value targets” that are either extremely dangerous, have evaded capture for a very long time or both. The list (in descending order of importance) includes:
Spectra (extremely dangerous and impossible to capture, ATTACK ON SIGHT)
Technus (messes with all of their equipment, has managed to delete thousands of documents of research and has released a large amount of ghosts from their facilities)
Phantom (difficult to capture, plus most of the GIW is still salty about not being able to collect that bounty)
Johnny 13 (a whole bunch of factors make him extremely difficult to capture)
Youngblood (impossible for anyone except children to see him and his guardian is extremely protective and dangerous)
Ember Mclain (can appear extremely human and is therefore extremely difficult to spot, along with having the ability to hypnotize agents into letting her go. Also constant requests and a couple million dollars from the living Mclains state that if captured, she is to be brought to them instead of to a GIW facility)
All ghosts have some level of respect for Phantom. Weaker ghosts view the Red Huntress as a genuine threat that should be taken seriously, while stronger ghosts view her as a ghost hunter thats far out of her league but still shouldn’t be underestimated. All ghosts view the Fentons as serious threats that are not to be messed with, but also won’t hesitate to fight them if it means saving another ghost that’s been captured. Every single ghost, with exceptions made for ghosts like Spectra, Aragon, The Fright Knight and the ancients, shit themselves at the mere mention of the GIW. If you get captured by them, it’s over. No hope of destabilizing and reforming in your lair because the GIW will use devices to keep you stable as they experiment on you. And they WILL experiment on you. Dissections, Vivisections (it counts as a vivisection if the ghost is conscious during the process), imprisonment in cells that Walker would consider crimes against humanity and just straight up, cold blooded torture of all kinds. The few things anyone, human or ghost, knows about what goes on behind the closed doors of a GIW facility mostly comes from ghosts that managed to destabilize themselves and reform in their lairs, and most of the ghosts that come back from a GIW facility come back with massive changes to their forms that they can’t remove and will often refuse to enter the human realm ever again, obsession be dammed.
I don't have all the words for it now but. The way booktok is so hyper-consumerist. The way the "badass feminist" protagonists are more often than not white self-inserts for the audience to project onto rather than actual characters. The same repackaged "golden" male love interest with dark hair. The obligatory racism. The way 90% of the booktok girlies are white women and the few woc are used as tokens to shield the current mess that is YA/NA books from any discussions of the rampant racism. It's all connected, it all goes back to the largely white audience, somehow, but I don't have the words for it yet.
when ur just a funky little skater punk hedgehog
(idk if u can tell but only his bangs are straightened, he has braids)
hi! i'm bad with introductions so here's a quick guide on how to elevate your reality shifting experience if you feel like yours is boring or you don't really know what to do once you successfully shift + tips, examples, and disclaimers if needed.
should i really explain this one? script that you have everything you want. script unusual quests. unheard of music, new colors to see for the first time. no matter how crazy or otherworldy it seems. it's your reality, your rules (as long as you're not doing anything immoral)
- a warning disguised as a disclaimer:
if you intend on scripting crazy scenarios and 'unimaginable' stories, please remember that they're real, and that they will feel real, because they ARE real. i feel like that's something that always slips away from shifters' minds.
and sure, you may script that these situations won't affect you as much or that having your cc/s by your side will make it better (which is true) but don't hurt yourself or others in the process of it all. be smart about every decision you make. and remember there is consequences. (i'm aware that infinite realities exist, and there are realities where there are no consequences. still, choosing that path is not excusable and is morally wrong IF you intend on doing awful things)
do you want to be the main character in your favorite show? do you want to create a silly world for your oc/s and live amongst them? do you want to be in your favorite games? do want to be unfathomably overpowered in your dr? do you want to have the knowledge and wisdom of a 10000+ year old being?
whatever you can possibly imagine // want, give it a go! (again, as long as you're not doing anything immoral)
do not limit yourself to your cr's laws of physics or how life generally is in your cr "like the amount of money you get per hour working at a certain cafe in singapore" and stuff like that.
there are no limits but the ones YOU set yourself!
setting yourself goals can motivate you to shift when you feel like you're at the lowest of lows, even when you feel like reality shifting isn't real (it is)
what do you wish to achieve by this shift? is it fun? is it to learn a dead language or is it to learn how to swing a katana? is it to reminisce about your past? is it to gain balance? is it simply just to say 'oh yeah i've experienced this'?
what do you wish to achieve by your shifting experience as a whole? healing your trauma? having a family and finding a place you can call home? or maybe finding someone that'll lasso the moon, stars and every celestial being for you?
by setting goals and achieving them, no matter how big or small, you will gradually build confidence and find purpose, which i find to be one of the most important things anyone, and in this case shifters, can strive for.
no like really imagine finiding your purpose alongside your cc/s, isn't that just the dream-come-true type of life? :')
be willing to try things outside of your script. some shifters seem to have an obsession with control that it sometimes feels unnatural (i'm talking about ones that make you feel like there's no way anything can go SLIGHTLY different), which is not wrong! i do it sometimes too, but doing that to every part of your script and in every dr feels exhausting and robotic almost (it's not though, because infinite realities exist, but you get what i'm trying to say)
be open to try to shift without a script, IK it is scary but try it out at least once in your journey. it'll shock you with how fun and crazy it is, you might even learn about things you'd never dreamed of knowing.
- disclaimer more like warning:
AS FOR SAFETY, please always script yourself safety measures no matter where you're going, idc if your dr is sunshine, rainbows, and happiness infuesd air. always script safety.
- tip:
you can always have a theme for your dr "to enhance the journey and better your chances of going somewhere fun". just have the key elements for the story.
- for ex.
"in a cyberpunk city in the year 3766, just beyond its borders lies a city abandoned due to radioactive fallout from a forgotten war. its secrets remain unknown, hidden within the silent remnants of a bygone era."
this way, you only know what the story is about, but you don't know how it ends, who will accompany you, what will happen.. etc.
- another tip:
for extra fun, you can script in characters that you already know from other dr/s, like the blue blazes from bubble!
taking your time to reflect is important because it allows you to understand what happened, how you felt, what you learned, where you slipped up.. etc. therefore grow and make better decisions. it's like looking in a mirror for your mind, helping you see yourself more clearly and make positive changes.
you may reflect by asking yourself questions like; what did you learn from your recent shift? how do you intend to improve? what were your weak points, and how can you strengthen them? was it something external or internal? and whatever other questions you resonate with.
- for ex.
let's say you shifted to BNHA/MHA, and you were assigned to have a training session with one of your classmates, tokoyami, for instance. and he happened to dominate that fight and ultimately win it (despite what you may have scripted)
now, ask yourself; what are some things you wanted // needed to improve on during the fight?
as for when to reflect, you may do it in so many different ways and to give you a few examples, you may instantly reflect which'll happen in your dr, either right after you finish the fight or during the fight if possible. or you may go to a wr where you watch an analysis of the fight by one of the heros or just a general analysis. or you may go back to your cr and try to remember what happened and note it down.. etc.
these are just a few i've tried and they've all worked wonderfully, (especially the second one)
- disclaimer:
as for the last one, i don't recommend it as much as the others, and it's coming from experience. i remember my memory betrayed me one time when i was analyzing a villain's quirk and i ended up with an injury due to it. yes, the injury was small and i ended up recovering in 3 days but it could've been avoided yk?
now, i must say that i realize we will have our own unique experiences, and my memory may not match yours. and i acknowledge there were things i could have done differently, but you live and you learn! ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ
nothing brings me more peace than knowing that katniss everdeen spends the rest of her life eating warm cheese buns and being held every night by a man who loves her more than life itself. she deserves everything
Amity Park is probably the only city you’ll ever find where haunted houses are a requirement for many aspiring homeowners and with real estate agents who heavily encourage you to get insurance for your house against ghosts.
sigh i had an epiphany
book 4 is just a whole ass scooby doo episode huh
me scripting be like
"my personality is the same as in my cr, but without my social anxiety and shyness and awkwardness and autism and"
I love those ideas where Casper High kids are like one bad day away from completely feral. I also love the idea that pretty much all of Casper High, including the teachers, know that Fenton is Phantom but because his existence is illegal they don’t say shit about it and pretend they don’t know anything. I especially love it in combo with DPxDCU xovers.
Like even Mikey will fist fight Riddler in the parking lot of a Denny’s at 3am. That’s one of my favorite ideas. I also love the idea that they’re like that because they all secretly know that if the Phantom Trio are forced to step up then whatever rogue this is, isn’t making it out alive. Their violence is a mercy towards these squishy outsiders because Phantom is not only overprotective but is used to fighting extradimensional beings and not squishy mortals. They need to be able to take out the mortal threat the mortal way first or Phantom/Fenton’s instinctive protectiveness will not only out him but likely kill every asshole that’s looked at them since they got there.
Sure the GIW and the Fenton parents are constantly trying to fight and capture him but he never actually humors them. He always leaves them almost immediately. They have no idea if he might accidentally just smear a human across the pavement because he’s never fought a human as far as they know, even when Dash was still fucking with him.
The idea that these kids would all just assign themselves a rogue and just annihilate them to prevent Danny or his friends from stepping in is so hilarious to me. Their teachers just sighing and looking away like they ain’t seen shit because they’re all some form of liminal due to exposure at this point and the teachers all just have to accept that and pretend they don’t see.
