I just wanted to give everyone a heads up that 30+ brands of nutrition drinks including but not limited to Ensure, Pediasure, Glucerna, Oatly, and Premier Protein just got recalled for possible contamination with the bacteria that causes botulism, a paralytic toxin with a lethal dose of 1.3 nanograms. If you've purchased one of the affected lot numbers please return it to the store to be properly disposed of as a biohazard but do not accept any compensatory gift cards because that can be counted as a settlement if you need to file a lawsuit for any potential damages caused by this later on. If you have any questions regarding the recall there's a phone number listed in the article above that you can call, but if you believe you may have ingested toxins then please call your local poison control hotline. Stay safe
Just remembering the times I’ve actively been falling asleep in front of a doctor due to my chronic fatigue but then they still don’t do anything but tell me I need more sleep
Which isn’t unreasonable but I am a student. An AP GT student who falls asleep during class as well so I don’t get the notes or miss the lesson so I have to come in after school to get notes (or dig around the online classroom for the teachers that actually post their notes) and then have to teach myself the lesson.
Then I have to do the homework which is difficult for me to focus on (we think it’s undiagnosed adhd given other symptoms) and trying to complete the assignment takes a minimum of an hour. Give or take given exhaustion and falling asleep reading the questions, pain in my wrist, fingers, hands, etc, or having to do other things.
Then multiple by the four educational classes I’m in (thank god French doesn’t have homework)
I get as much sleep as I can
All this to say, I’m glad it’s summer and I’m glad I was finally diagnosed (maybe collegeboard will finally consider accommodating me)
Yo I also have over pronated ankles and wear insoles and hypermobile eds, but I have been wearing these insoles for a decade and I was only diagnosed with eds earlier this year. And they’re custom insoles from like a military doctor because of how messed up my ankles are cause they normally only do those for veterans and not dependents.
How did it take this long for me to be diagnosed?!?!?
I’ve been unable to get the insoles I have been using for years and went with a “recommended brand”.
Of course I spent a whole month trying to keep my knee in place before it occured to me that the new insoles were not doing their job.
Anyway, I now recommend PCSsole Heavy Duty Arch supports for over pronation, because I can walk again.
the next person who tries to tell me “you just need to do X to cure your chronic illness!” is going to get beaten to death with a binder of my entire compiled medical history
• being disabled should not be expensive •
• being mentally i’ll should not be expensive •
If you are going to give medical advice regarding high heat, please make sure that it is sound. It is dangerous to tell people to avoid certain liquids, especially liquids that are more likely to be sipped often throughout the day, especially because people in temperate climates who are getting tropical summer temperatures right now are not used to the fact that electrolyte loss from excessive sweating can be dangerous too. Water alone does not hydrate you. If you are drinking tons of plain water without eating anything with it, that is a recipe for electrolyte imbalances that can fuck you up big time. Guess what has water and sodium in it? Soda. Guess what has carbohydrates and proteins and calcium? Iced lattes. If you like water, that’s great! A lot of people do not like and will not drink water, or will chug water a few times a day while sodas and lattes and teas that could save their lives sit abandoned in the fridge because they’ve been convinced that it’s plain water or nothing. Don’t die for diet culture and debunked science. Drink your sodas, teas, coffees, milkshakes, slushies–whatever gets liquid into your body in sippable form, because your body can only process so much liquid at a time–chugging a bunch of water in the morning won’t help you by the afternoon, you’ve got to keep drinking. Also heat stroke can kill you. Heat stroke is a medical emergency. It’s not you being a baby or a wimp, it’s your internal body temperature getting high enough to cook enzymes in your body to the point that they melt out of shape and stop functioning. Heat stroke can kill you quickly, so don’t wait to call an ambulance if you think you or someone else have it. If you suspect heat stroke and you hesitate, you may watch someone die. I know people who have watched a young, healthy relative die of heatstroke while waiting for the ambulance to come, despite everyone involved being accustomed to the heat and having access to air conditioning. When you start to feel like the heat is getting to you, listen to your body and do not push yourself. Pushing yourself is how you die waiting for the ambulance to come.
Something I’m proud of.
When I was in my freshman year of high school, there was a competition that you could submit an original play to be put in by our school.
I wrote a lay about a lady coming out as asexual to her childhood best friend.
I worked hard on it and submitted it on time and waited for a response.
And it absolutely made my day when I got the notification that my play had been selected!
My play was put on as a fully student run production and is on YouTube in a compilation of the winning plays from that year.
That is something I’m proud of.
Phineas: I don't know who needs to hear this right now, but you can eat lasagna in the shower if you want to. It's not illegal. They can't arrest you. Go and be free.
For the ask game 💯
1. who is/are your comfort character(s)?
29. how do you like your shower water?
Thank you for asking!!!
1. Logan and Janus from Sander sides, Wybie Lovat from Coraline, Adrien Agreste from Miraculous Ladybug, most of the cast of Ducktales, Draco Malfoy, Reggie Peters from Julie and the Phantoms…. Probably more but those are the ones I’m actively thinking of
29. I enjoy hot water, not boiling hot but pretty warm. I have issues with cold temperatures
What song would be playing on my pride float?
I...
I don’t know how to explain why other than I live this song and Robin is LGBTQ+.
This rings true in so many ways
I love all things frog, mushroom, rainbow high… I have Ehlers danlos syndrome and use both a rollator and a cane. Enby that is bad at making friends but likes to have them. I adore many cartoons but haven’t seen even more.
