Note: This post can be very triggering for some people. Please take care of yourself and don’t read this if you are sensitive to the topic of eating disorders.

To start, let’s lay out one ground rule. We know that population statistics respectively affect the nations’ behaviours, habits, and personalities. When something is common in the population, the personification adopts it too.

For example, America’s people strongly believe in aliens and conspiracy theories.

As such, America also believes in aliens and conspiracy theories.

It would follow, then, that given how big the fast food and dieting industries are in America –what a massive contradiction that is – he would also be affected by this.

Well, he is.

While I can’t attest to how accurate this statistic is, Hima cites that 60% of Americans are overweight. What matters here is that this statistic explains why America is also ‘overweight’. He’s not actually. I’ll get back to that in a minute.

Point is, America has been struggling with weight and dieting issues from some of the earliest strips. Of course, this is because the fast-food industry really took off after WW2. The dieting industry came a bit afterward when people began realizing how much weight they were gaining by eating so much processed food.

The same thing happens to America. Initially, he doesn’t realize the effect that constantly eating burgers has on his metabolism.

This then leads him to inquire about the eating habits of other nations as well as how they maintain their thin figures.

The problem with America is that this obsession with dieting becomes unhealthy, exactly as it is with the American population. Eating disorders and crash diets are chronic in North America. It’s a major problem that isn’t really talked about. Hima, on the other hand, characterizes America to accurately reflect this.

In his introductory chapter of World Stars (chapter 23), the topic of his dieting session is immediately brought up. I don’t think this would be done unless it was something pivotal to his characterization.

The character note claims that America’s gotten over his dieting craze and has accepted that he’s not actually fat but rather muscular and big-boned.

That’s the mental illness aspect of eating disorders. You claim that you’re better despite the fact that you keep relapsing into unhealthy habits. This thought process can be very convincing, as some people with eating disorders truly believe that they’re healthy and that there’s nothing wrong with what they’re doing.

Expectedly, later chapters contradict this.

Not even that, literally the next chapter depicts him struggling with his weight. When he measures himself on the scale and a large number turns up, he convinces himself that it’s broken. If that wasn’t enough, he also calls Germany to fix the scale.

How I interpret this is that America is in denial and is stubbornly fighting with himself over the number on the scale.

In the same chapter, he falls back to his old dieting tactics and asks Italy about his eating habits.

This isn’t the first time the insecurity over his weight is shown either.

Ex: In the strips depicting what each country is known for, America is shown to be painting over the American stereotype of being “fat.” As someone who seems to be struggling with his body image, it makes sense that he wouldn’t want to be known as an obese country.

The problem with America is that he overeats, sets unrealistic body goals, and then doesn’t follow through with these goals. This, in turn, leads to a rigorous cycle of dieting and feeling poor about himself.

Ex: One of his New Year’s Resolution to “take better care of his health” is to have a body fat percentage of 3%. Obviously, this isn’t a realistic goal. It’s far from healthy.

Notice how being slimmer has been his resolution for the past 30 years. It’s not something that’s gone away, as it’s a problem that’s persistently affected Americans over the years.

The cycle continues when, in the same strip, he treats himself to a hamburger and milkshake.

The last that we see of this problem is when he trains China to help him lose weight. [Chinese obesity rates have been on the rise lately.]

Regardless of the fact that America possesses super strength and possesses more physical endurance than normal, a 10,000 corkscrew punch workout is not normal. If anything, this is indicative of another unhealthy dieting tactic.

In sum, America’s dieting/ workout habits and overconsumption of junk food are owed to the prevalence of the fast food and dieting industries of his country. Given the evidence I just presented, it’s not a stretch to claim that he suffers from body issues and has an eating disorder.

Quick thing I make to show the differences between each kingdom’s fashion taste, i think.

Club is a military based Kingdom with a harsh cold environment so their clothes often lean to be more practical, layered, and coat with fur. Rather having some pin or precious gems shaped with their insignia, they prefer to have the club’s insignia embroidered to their clothes since it’s saver and not going to fall or stolen when they’re moving around.

Spade clothes prefer a straight cut and straight A silhouette. Like clubs, they prefer some practical and easy to wear clothes. That’s because they hate wasting precious time that they can have for study and experimenting instead. They’re not interested in having their clothes covered with their kingdom insignia either as they think the colour of blue is already enough to represent to which they belong. Spades are people who would cut anything unnecessary from their schedule so they can do whatever their greedy heart desires, and most of it is about studies and making new inventions.

Hearts however, not like the other three. Their fashion can be seen pretty outlandish with layers upon layers and pretty fluttery. This is because as their Kingdom really loves festivals and parties, those kinds of clothes really look great for dancing at the event. The fuller their clothes look, usually it signifies they’re well off as making these types of clothes can be expensive from how much fabric they need. Thus often, Heart buys fabric from other Kingdom, one of them is Diamond who loves their sheer fabric. Though these kinds of fabric for hearts are used for just the bottom layers of their skirt that in a way for Diamonds who really think highly of their own bodies and love to show their skins, found it quite a waste and ridiculous. Hearts and Diamonds often fight for which kingdom has the better sense of fashion in which Spade and Club have no intention to join in.

So hey, I got bored and turned a desk scribble into a Cardverse map. I have no idea what I’m doing, but I’ve made some theories about the different kingdoms off this map. Spades(Blue)- With the spades being the largest Kingdom land wise, they have a wide ranging culture and resources. While they are the most powerful kingdom, they are forced to work with their neighboring kingdoms in order to thrive.

Cloves(Green)- Cloves, being almost completely made up of islands, are heavily based around trading, boating, and seafood. The islands in the north and the mainland of the Cloves are great trading ports and are places meant for cultural fusion. Because both the Spades and the Hearts reply on them for trade, the Clove Kingdom is a peace keeper between the 2 kingdoms.

Hearts(Red)- With their large landmass, the northern part of the kingdom is almost completely different from the southern part of the kingdom. Because of this, the south is a place for great arts and food, and influence from their Diamond neighbors and their Clubian friends across the pond, while the north is known for their architects and fruits.

Diamonds(Yellow)- Unlike their Heart neighbors, a lot of the Diamond culture is condensed into their small landmass. This includes good food, wine, weapons, and book making. The shared border of the Hearts and the Diamonds have caused many issues in the past, but after the incident of the Tangerine Islands, they have calmed down.

Tangerine Islands(Orange)-A territory that was commonly fought over because it was one of the best trade ports between the diamonds and hearts. Both kingdoms have tried to take it, but after many years of infighting, a former member of the high heart court declared it as independent and told both kingdoms to calm down before they close off ports completely.

???(Birb)- A very weird island with many cats. There are people living there, but they don’t classify as any part of any kingdom

Nyo!China: I see her quite short (156 cm or 5′1.4″), with a dainty figure. She’s slim and slight-boned, with a small breast and narrow hips, but she still has a feminine figure as her waist is thinner. Well-proportioned in general, with lean and toned muscles. Particularly slim and small feet.

Nyo!England: She’s quite short as well (160 cm or 5′3″) and skinny, but more on the scrawny side. She’s quite flat and with just a hint of hips/waistline (I see her as the kind of girl who gets perpetually mistaken for a 12-year-old). Her limbs are quite bony and lanky, she doesn’t easily put on muscle mass, no matter how much she exercises.

Nyo!France: Leaning on the tall side (170 cm or 5′6.9″) and slender but with an hourglass shape. Narrow waist, bigger hips, big breast, and slim (but not excessively so) arms and legs. She’s lean and toned, but without a great muscle mass. Very well-proportioned in general. I also picture her having very elegant hands, with long fingers and very strong, always perfectly manicured nails. (Oh, and she gives the impression of being taller because she constantly wears high heels. At least 10 cm.)

Nyo!Russia: Statuesque, very tall (185 cm or 6′0.8″) and imposing. I picture her having an hourglass body shape similar to Ukraine, with full hips and a very big breast, but she also has broader shoulders and more developed muscles, particularly visible in her arms and legs, that look quite buff. Her feet are a bit small for her height.

Like, it’s kinda implied that the NA Bros are Finland’s sons and you can speculate that they are also Sweden’s. They both have Finland’s face, Finland told America to think of him as a father, Sweden and Finland were trying to raise America but couldn’t. America has Sweden’s eyes and Finland’s cheerfulness while Canada has Finland’s eyes and Sweden’s quiet nature. But then they were raised by England and France.

Meanwhile, Sealand was built by both British and French forces. He has England’s face, France’s eyes, and a combination of their brows. But was adopted by Sweden.

Favorite rusame fanfics?

AAAAA here’s the question, okay. first of all forgive my english lol, second:  I have a lot of fics that I like, I really found a huge heaven of stuff searching for Rusame on Ao3, but Im going to make a list of some of the Long fics (which are my faves type of fics) that I enjoyed reading! :  Drawing Dead by Drewyth (AU, contains Nsfw)  This was an immediate first love, I love the characterization, the plot, the flow, certain scenes made me gasp loudly and the dialogue is so great , it’s still on going but the whole story until now it’s an amazing rollercoaster <3 (in all the good sense possible) Blue lips by IridulcentDays (BiverbalBuncombe) (Canonverse) This is discontinued I think? because it hasn’t been updated in years, still,I adore it, I love hurtcomfort and the rusame relationship in it it’s chefkiss.  The promise of sunflowers by PurplePatchwork (canonverse, contains Nsfw)  This one is adorable, like literally adorable, the whole growth of the relationship is so cute it makes me squeal and I adore the way Russia is portrayed here. Hades Pleads by ThatBritishBoy (AU) This one is an amazing Greek Mythology AU! I adore the way it’s written and where the plot is taking us readers, the scenes are majestically described it’s quite easy to imagine them in your head, it’s still on going and I’m honestly hyped for the new chapters!   Ivan Braginsky's Guide To Taking Care Of An Alien by Zero_Gravity (Au, Nsfw-ish)  In this one the relationship is quite peculiar and I love it, Ivan takes care of Alfred and Alfred is the most adorable thing ever, I also adore how the plot is bittersweet and there’s a lot of honey and domestic stuff (I’m so weak for that kind of things)  A change by Galactic_Ink (Au, nsfw)  I’ve read various fics from this author, all very valid and quite nice! This gotta be my favourite though, I’m a su**er for Apocalyptic/post-apocalyptic/dystopian Au or canonverses and this didn’t disappoint at all, the whole worldbuilding and action plot was an experience !  Fake It Until You Make It by Jupiterra (AU) I really enjoyed this one, it was very well written and hilarious at times, I also loved how the relationship evolved and the cute fluff in it!  Close the door by PurplePatchwork (NYORusame, AU, Nsfw-ish)  This is a nyotalia fic that I adore in every way, it’s discontinued but those seven chapters are a bliss. Both Amelia and Anya are written amazingly and the plot was becoming very cute and interesting!  Okay so , I have a ton of amazing Rusame fics I like so It would take an entire day to make a list for all of them! I have to say in every fandom Im in, I prefer canonverse( with canon divergences) fics, but with all the amazing AU I found with rusame, well I have to say that Ive been wrong all this time <3  The Rusame fandom really got amazing fanfictions writers and I can’t thank them enough for the things they create!
