So a little fun backstory on this image. the woman in the right side of the picture who looks absolutely miserable is one of the federal workers who got fired by Elon—she was a cancer researcher at NIH investigating treatments for childhood cancer and was in the mandated probationary period because she had gotten promoted to lead her team of doctorate level biologists. Congressman Jamie Raskin invited her as a guest to Trump’s address as a representative for all the fired federal workers. And they sat her literally a seat away from Elon to listen as the president of the United States praised the guy who eliminated her job while also talking about the importance of defeating childhood cancer

yes it’s scary at first but it gets easier and you gotta do it because helping that other person is way more important than your temporary discomfort and I promise you the person being a dick also feels uncomfortable receiving pushback. we will probably never eliminate this shit from society but we can do our damnedest to shame assholes and entitled people in public spaces until they behave better.
