This is a piece I did for an art class a few years ago using pastels, and I’m still really proud of it!

Two brothers; Marigold and Hydrangea.

They share a body. It is unclear when or how this happened; it just *is*. At first, they aren't even aware of each other's existence. This is why I eat honey as a vegan: not because I don’t value insects as animals, but because it is generally not produced through cruelty. In general, the bees can leave if they’re being mistreated. I have no problem enjoying the fruits of their labor, because they’re getting something out of it (a sheltered hive, defense and support from human beekeepers, et cetera) and they can leave. It’s not “eating/using something that comes from an animal” that’s the problem, it’s harming or mistreating the animal to get it that I take issue with.
